It's completely apparent this tournament was a sham. Enjoy fighting your wife in the final. I'm just sad that we still have not had anybody real to fight here. Just some wannabe who's trying to artificially inflate his own ego.

Please refer to my picture with the cup. Say whatever you need to to live with the fact that you are leaving a tournament because something didn't go your friend's way. Lol its too soon to even say that since no judge made a ruling. But that's fine. Have fun, wherever you're off to where people bow to you and you are always right :).

@Gun: are you certain you want to throw Starfall out? The tournament has already been something of a comedy of no-shows, with precisely one fight going to something resembling a conclusion. Perhaps you should ask Blunderbuss if she'd like to continue her bout before you throw four of your remaining competitors out the door?

Make no mistake - while I'm trying to be calm and civil about this, I agree with the vast majority of what Starfall has said. I wouldn't have posted what I posted if I didn't think I had a solid case for making it stuck with it inevitably went to judgment. Part of the reason I want to let this die down and wait for judgment is that I'm confident a neutral read of the fight will back up my actions sufficiently to allow the fight to continue largely as written. While I will certainly be told to ask Divinity more questions in the future, I will state that Starfall is, in fact, correct here - I should not be required to ask Divinity a dozen different "so what did this actually mean?" questions after every post and in the doing make myself look like an incompetent idiot, simply because he prefers a writing style which leaves critical details to the reader's imagination.

Did I know the lances/javelins were made of controlled and crystallized sand? Yes, of course. That much was plain, but it was not sufficient. Never once was the formation, disposition, or capabilities of those lancelins so much as hinted at - the assumption seemed to be that I was supposed to sabotage my own offense by assuming NQCorban's capabilities to be drastically greater than Meteor's own, for no earthly reason. That is not only bad conduct, it is in fact patently unfair. This is a competition - the rules for every other single combat competition I have ever been a part of claims that if something is left vague and ambiguous, it is the fault of the writer, not the opponent. Mostly for exactly this reason - Divinity is now permitted to tell us all what his defense was supposed to be after I launched an attack around it, and can with the benefit of hindsight reconfigure that defense however he likes to nullify what I've written.

Am I accusing him of deliberately doing so? No. But that's the point. At this juncture no one can truly know if Divinity meant the skewers to be landlocked, as he claimed, or if he's backpedaling because otherwise he's in for a hurt parade. For what it's worth, I believe that yes, he meant the spears to be landlocked - but that was never once mentioned or made clear in the post, and again, I'm not one to ask a hundred questions, sabotage my own actions, and ensure everyone reading the fight considers me a complete neophyte nitwit because my opponent prefers to utilize a writing style not conducive to clarity of action.

Clarity. Is. Crucial. I should not have to work for it, beg for it, or ask my opponent nicely if he will please explain what it was he did after every post he makes because he wants to write a certain way. It should be my right as his opponent for this match, just as it is his right as my opponent to demand clarity from me.

I wish Starfall had been less antagonistic in making her points - but I understand exactly why she made them. Throwing her from the tournament, without consulting her current opponent at all, because she is more aggressive than I am in seeking correction for a miscarriage of gameplay is not cool.

@Gun: let Blunderbuss and Starfall decide for themselves if they'd like to continue their bout. Divinity and I will sort this out with judge's assistance, one way or another - but do not mistake my willingness to work within the system for a willingness to lay down and die because RPGuild told me I've been a naughty girl. This tournament has had enough trouble as it is. Let's let the combatants have their fun, eh?

Yeah, elitists suck; it's almost like those Neo Shin-Ra guys hosted, judged, joined, and rigged their own tournament using mule accounts. What a buncha mooks.

@DLLIf you want to continue that's fine, but starfall can kick rocks. She has all but jettisoned herself from this tournament. I didn't want it to go here, but it did. I will make no case for or against Div because again I am not the judge. You can believe you are as right as you wish, but only a judge may interpret that.

However, I will say that both of you had some very clearly established issues. You have fine points, and Div has fine counterpoints in my personal opinion. You'll just have to wait on shawdus if you want to continue. Either way I can't imagine that this will go off without a hitch after the judge call regardless of which way that pendulum swings.

Let it be known that Starfall went way out of line. She was consistently told that she should eject herself from the argument, and Gun gave her a final warning saying basically "If you don't stop I'll DQ you" And she continued on her rant--either you listen to the GM and stay, or you don't and get kicked. Have you not listened to a GM before?

Also let it be known that just because Starfall got kicked doesn't mean that Enki had to jump in here and continue the insults being hailed at Gun for seemingly no reason at all considering he literally took no side. DLL was honestly the only one out of the trio that acted with any sort of respect, and I'm happy that he decided to remain civil even toward the conclusion of this little shitstorm.

I asked questions to Divinity, big or small, and he answered all of them. I got his posts clarified rather well because, like you DLL, I didn't understand some of his wording either. But he was willing to tell me because what he says in his posts is 99% of the time in the text (Except for the javelin thing, which I'm not even 100% about because I never got to reading the IC posts).

I just don't get it. Why is everyone throwing so much shade at Gun? For what, exactly? He said he used Divinity for a time and then handed it off to the person who has it now. I just can't understand why you would jump on him. It obviously wasn't fixed. All he wanted to do was come here, start a tournament, and generate some fights. Before you go around accusing him of rigging the tournament, tell me this. What reason would he have?

No. Seriously. What would he gain from fighting his wife in the championship and winning/losing? What would he get from the win? Why don't you ask yourself that, question his motivation before you start throwing accusations.

With that being said, considering the tournament is officially disbanded, I guess I nevr got the chance to pass my judgement. I apologize to DLL and Divinity for having to sit through this shitstorm while I dealt with real life responsibilities--I feel like if I had been able to make swift judgement, this wouldn't have devolved so out of control. Hats off to both of you for keeping your cool.

@Shawdus: Don't sweat it. There were circumstances beyond what was made apparent in this thread driving the shitstorm; it was probably inevitable at some point. Nobody blames you for handling shit that actually matters first.

@Gun@Divinity I may be with Shin Ra but I'm not here to throw shade at anyone. I'm kind of late to this party. But the conversation about being vague is something I'd like to ask about. Why'd I have to put examples in my profile of what certain parts of Sky's abilities could do when others can get away with being vague in the posts that they make? I can understand tactical deception and the art of writing. But it really is each persons job to fully explain what they're doing to one another. Otherwise you get a bunch of hands flicking away attacks with no reason behind it.

It sucks that the tournament was disbanded, pretty sure there were awesome fights to be had. I plan to stick around and get to know the community more and engage in more Rp, fighting or otherwise. So feel free to shoot me a message. The tournament was a solid attempt in my book. Sorry things went south.

I'm incredibly used to things going this route, but I like to believe I am an amiable person. I'm still willing to fight any of you. I'll just learn from this hickup what kind of writing your group prefers and stick to that. Adaptation is key, after all!
