To be honest I'm not even sure where to begin or what plot we could do but honestly I'm itching to roleplay some RWBY after the latest season. Let's discuss what we could do!

So we want this to be a small group diddly or a large group diddly? Because we've got enough right now for a single team with the GM as leader. Could keep things nice and simple.

I'm more for a small group than a big one in all honesty. A smaller group allows for more relations to be built up and makes the central team really feel like protagonists. Although, if someone drops out that could prove to be problematic. The problem with bigger groups is making a plot of fit them all, and the early drop out stuff is still there but just on a larger scale.

Sorry if there are any typos by the way! On my phone so autocorrect might have gotten me

Agreed.

As for plot, what if the characters are all transfer students from the various schools being thrown together into a slapdash team around the time the Vytal festival takes place (and all that entails...). Since there's really no good way to get them placed into teams the usual way halfway through the semester, they have to learn to work together in time to participate in the tournament and aide in the upcoming crisis.

Well, I suppose we have a few options:

Start a new school year at the main school and find each other during the first challenge and then go on to classrooms and arena battles until a disaster opens

Start after the main story line disaster and start our story at one of the other schools mentioned in the canon as a preformed team/transfers

Not care about the main story and create our own thing with the main/alternative schools

Anyways, theres a lot of different places we can begin. Now, as for the nomination for being team leader since I'm GM, I'm very flattered. That being said, I feel that anyone could be team leader if they so choose and it really depend on the character types AND player personality types that would make that decision. I don't want to be the kind of gm that just leads you guys by the nose everywhere, rp's like that tend to get a little boring and you wind up HAVING to follow every little step. I mean, yeah I make the stuff and the plots but the central conflict doesn't always have to revolve around the GM, does that make sense? ^^'

I'd like to leave it to you guys in that case: Someone may propose a villain idea, I can make the villain myself (not to brag, but I love making asshole characters) or we can use a canonical villain if not just some cameos. Once we build a villain, I feel I could start piecing a plot together.

Oh, almost forgot. We can start small and build more later so that we have variety in teams. I hope we all make characters with names that can form a coherent word (i.e. Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, Ren = JNPR/Juniper)

oh, we could also make our own school too if we wanted. that would mean i'd have to make new staff and whatnot but that'd be fun i think.

let's all do our best on this ^.^

I also like the idea of a new academy, if we want to go that route. We could start with a freshly-built school, based in Atlas maybe. Could be reasoned that not everyone who wants to be a Huntsman would want to join the military, like I assume the people of Atlas have to if they go to Atlas Academy.

I would prefer if we leave out the canons as much as possible (Aside from a few cameos) so we avoid fanfiction mode or whatever.

Otherwise, I prefer to take a back seat in things, since I'm pretty good with all presented options (I'm more likely to bring up something I don't like).

We also don't want to distance ourselves too much from canon though, otherwise it's equally fanfiction. Just wanted to say that.

What about setting the RP before the main canon timeline? Like have the characters be the previous graduating class of one of the schools (preferably Beacon if only because it's the school we know most about). That way we can effectively distance ourselves from any huge catastrophes.

Alternatively, just set it at any point in the recent or distant past, either before or after the War. The schools and the technology to build weapons seems to have existed for at least a hundred years or so.

Mr. Allen no XD

@ TS, You may have an excellent idea there. That way we can use some of the old staff and integrate 'new ones' that would just be old teachers or staff as we please. Not to mention it gives us more flexibility since it's not near the more major catastrophes. THAT BEING SAID, it comes with certain hold backs. If this rp were to occur in the past Beacon, that would mean no major conflicts could occur on campus; ie. the school falling out of the sky, no military on campus etc because those were major ordeals in the show.... er, not the school falling out of the sky but i kinda wanted that to happen for drama's sake tbh ^^; anyway, the reason this is is because otherwise it would be a point in the show they mention it like "HEY remember that time the school totally fell out of the sky and caused that major political drama in the staff? Me Neither!"

/or/ we COULD do that and just say they went over that in history class with literally no presentable discussion. ;3 It was just a point to bring up, as ya'll mentioned not wanted to deviate too far. Since the seasons have just been brought up in the show too, it means it shouldn't even be mentioned if this is a past issue.

I love the idea of working with past Beacon WITH the idea it would go into the history books of the actual show but having no relevance in the future (other than the existence of the same characters later) Anyway, I'm rambling and probably sound mega confusing.

I vote relatively near past, at least sometime if not directly after the war. I want to know what YOU guys want though too and the majority will win the vote of where the story takes place.

@Mr Allen J I think that is the best idea so far. I'll start working on a CS ASAP.

But for real, I like the idea of Beacon's past. If we want to do directly post-war, we probably wouldn't have any of the current staff (Unless you all think that Ozpin doesn't age, like I do), since the war was nearly 80 years before the events in RWBY.

I also vote for relatively near past, like maybe 20-40 years before RWBY. We could get some cameos of STRQ as like a fourth-year team, if we go with 20-ish years before. That might be too close to the current timeline, though.

Hmmm... Just thought of this, but wouldn't anti-Faunus sentimemts be particularly bad after the War on account of Faunus being used as human weapons? Not that "RACISM!" (insert Spongebob rainbow hand gestures here) isn't going to be a central topic with Faunus no matter when or where you are in the RWBY universe, but we may want to put just a bit of distance between this RP and the immediate end of the War.

Then again, I think I might be crossing a few mental wires with Blazblue's beastkin here, so there's a good chance I may just be misremembering a few details.
