I want to tell everyone something, and listen well, its simple to remember yet no one bothers: STOP

the internet is a breeding ground for malice, hatred and scorn, it seems like no matter where I go these days I find SOMEONE getting harassed no matter what, be it someones race, sexuality or religion, SOMEONE has to speak up and break someone else down just so they can get higher, a good friend of mine has been on the verge of suicide on numerous occasions because someone berates her, and millions of other people have gone beyond that because someone out there thought they were high and mighty until they took it to far, hell, I bet some of you would even tell the person to kill themselves, I know that not everyone out there is like this, I'm not directing this at you if so, but the people who are like this need to get off their high horse and learn some humility, someone might be different than you, someone might not believe in the same thing as you, someone might not be of the same sex or sexuality as you, and there is nothing wrong with this, its okay to let it go, and the next time you try to be the dick in a conversation, ask yourself this "does this person deserve it?"

Mmm, I agree with you. However, when one goes on any online forums, they themselves should be prepared for abuse. It sucks, but here on the internet, we are all anonymous. And when people are anonymous, their true self leaks out. They either don't think about or don't care about the person they are talking to. But you have to remember that the opinions of random strangers on the internet about oneself does not matter in the slightest. If one is unable to handle the abuse, then, I hate to say it but they should not be on the internet. Here on RPG the mods generally do a good job keeping the flaming at bay, but most places on the internet are not like that(places such as reddit, 4chan/8chan, youtube).

I agree, yet, this very thread will achieve absolutely nothing whatsoever in the scheme of the internet. Nice people will be nice, morons will be morons, trolls will keep trolling and all folks can really do is thicken their skins because it is human nature, and human nature I've found doesn't go away. Even more so on the internet.

Sometimes I wonder if there isn't a more serious problem when it comes to internet harassment. The world has nasty people in it, and the Internet has given them a means to be nasty to whoever they want, whenever they want, as much as they want, anonymously. Sometimes they do it just to be nasty, but usually it's to get feedback. That is something no amount of administrator police work or perma-banning will fix. The only real way to deal with them is to ignore them or get away from them, and I get really annoyed concerned when someone takes it to heart, to the point that they actually want to commit suicide, because that's a bullcrap reason to kill yourself letting someone anonymous take control of your life.

Look, good-friend-who-almost-committed-suicide-on-numerous-occasions: You do not HAVE to be here on the Internet. Get off the website that you're getting the trash talk from. If you have to, get off the Internet. I'm not dissing you for being sensitive; some people just easily take things to heart. I'm dissing you for being stupid enough to want to kill yourself over an anon not being able to just log off. Some people get bullied IRL. They get picked on and harmed physically and a lot of the time it's at school where they can't escape it. This is the freakin' Internet. All you have to do to get away from the bullying is turn off your phone/laptop/PC/WHATEVER.

Here, let me explain it just a little more clearly.

All you have to do to not get bullied on the Internet:

Get. Off. The. Internet.
