I'm pretty sure when pokemon attacks collide anyway there's an explosion 99.9999999999999% of the time anyway

That's true when it comes to projectiles.

I'm more certain that his fireballs would slip right through the smoke and hit those behind it... for low damage as he split it up xD... its a hit at least.

Perhaps if he used like Gust or something he could have blown the gas away xD

Ember has always shot more than one projectile however in the anime hasn't it?

I wouldn't take the Anime as a good source, but whatever XD it makes more sense than a single fireball.

If we're gonna go into specifics, then every Pokemon move that the Gijinka's have except Quick Attack, Dig, Hidden Power, Tackle, and Zap Cannon are useless. They don't help at all in a fight.

Weak attack to begin with anyway, but depending on the level of the Grimers it might deal some decent damage. STAB with modest and decent special attack stat and what not

Indeed, the Grimers aren't that high level so I'd say it would at least deal 1/3 of the hp on the main target.

Should also perhaps point out that flanking the Muk's and Grimer is quite hard, as they quite literally have a house behind them... and to move around the entire house, into the woods and then back again behind it is one heck of a move to pull out in a single round of battle... especially doing so after tackling someone out of the way of an attack, and also avoid the attack as well.

Assuming everyone is just about at the front yard of the 'house' its at least the length of the entire building, and probably at least one house length more before the forest.

So yeah... xD... its very far to move like that. Sound more reasonable if he just ran to the side of the house and tackled the Gijinka girl downn there than doing so many things at once.
