I'll be editing it...I was thinking that if a sword would even be enough to kill the thing, surely brutalising one wouldn't be so difficult, before sticking it in the side. Ah, well, this is why I put up the whole 24-48hour post time...'cause I usually have to think up questions to ask before posting, just in case. Ah, well, a posts a post. It may take quite a bit longer to edit, since I need to reflect on my mistake and misjudgements, then make the edits, before posting again.

Also, at the moment, I'm jacked up on sugar and caffeine. I can't trust myself to just edit and post in the next few hours.
Also...here is a song from one of my favorite PS2 horrors...

Also, I'm addicted to tragic characters, storylines, settings...

Edit: Forgot to ask the real question, though. So, mechanics of shapeshifting with/without clothing. What's the difference? Is it not 'talons of eagle form is the sword in human form' or 'feather into clothing' thing...? Would shapeshifting with clothing not be true shapeshifting?

Shapeshifting yourself and only yourself would mean that in human form, you'd be nekkid.

Shapeshifting the items around you would make thing seriously complicated. Like what if you didn´t have a sword? Does that mean you have to use some clothing or need some items to shapeshiting to compensate?

Most beings have nails and teeth, if they need claw/fangs/talons/beaks/horns in shapeshifting...ish? I think a sword would add to sharpness of the talons, shapeshifting your talons dull would be the equivalent of sheathing ones sword...?

I will accept one of two shapeshifting possibilities.

1) Only body shapeshift. No clothes

2) Clothes change too but no added properties. Something similar to putting the clothes away in a pocket dimension or some other crap

I dislike magic that completely and utterly disregards physics. To an extent I tolerate it.

I always thought skendar's clothes and weapons were made frome his essence, meaning that if he lost his sword his maximum size would decrease.

Then what's stopping him from making a sword out of the best crimsonite? That will just not do.

Nearly all magic does something akin to that, Witch. It can be explained with scientific concepts, but ultimately if magic is linked to logic it doesn't really become magic as much as it does became a little understood science with a lot of mysticism. Clarkes third law and all that. Though I do agree, perhaps shapeshifting does have a lot of potential with becoming overly powerful with a creative mind and no restraints. But than again so can a lot of things, with a creative mind and no restraint.

When I say that I dislike magic that completely disregards physics, I am saying creating something out of literally nothing or say being in a vaccum and flinging fire. Sure, there is the fact that a person has created is palm basically into flamethrowers but the flame will still need the oxygen. Otherwise all magic is overpowered.

And I do agree that we may need to discuss the actual limits of Skender's shapeshifting abilities.

The idea behind magic in general, no matter what it looks like, Isn't turning "Nothing" into "Something". The idea is turning "Energy" into "Matter" or into a different form of energy. All concepts of magic work on this principle. When someone throws a lightning bolt, they turn "Life" energy or "Mana" into Plasma. When someone uses "Creation" magic, they turn that energy into "solid" matter.

When you're creating a magic system, or even just a single spell, your question shouldn't be "Is this allowed" it should be "How much energy does this take?" "Where does that energy come from?" and "What happens if you use too much?"

you've already answered the "Where" and the "What", now you just have to answer "How much?"

Also...this is pretty much the last time Skender will do any extensive shapeshifting...from here on out, he'll be in his human form. This was just intro stuffs, so I made it a lil crazy...

Hey, what are the guidelines on learning new magic? I suddenly realized that Alteral, while having a very combat oriented personality, is pretty much useless in combat. Hell, LUNA is a better fighter, and she doesn't fight.

The most he'll do is utilise shapeshifting to alter parts of his body in order to increase healing...and, like mentioned in his CS, he'd only do that if no human is present. Skender originally learned shapeshifting to hide...then, at present, to pretend to be human. The rest of the time, Skender is 99-100% finesse swordsman.

Learning magic is mostly done under the guidance of official teachers. Collages to temper the talents. Though you can learn by yourself which is lack luster compared to official training. You can train under a master of any kind though. Rogue wizard or the such. Thalen learned from his elders.

Learning new magic can go through reading old tomes of magic which explain the fundamentals of the spell or, through trial and error mostly, come up with a new spell yourself.

Edit: Learning a spell that is very different from the sort of magic you know is difficult. Haklo will have a hard time to learn a fireball spell due to his use of mental magics

The sword is important to him...though he kind of forgot why...

The presence of humans, due to his complex about being 'human' in human presence...even if they know he ain't one of them...

What about shifting Alteral's sun magic to Fire magic, making it effective on almost everything instead of specifically vampires and other creatures of the night?
