Piper stood there with her wide eyes. She heard the brilliant chimes of a strange noise. It filled the room with waves of vibrant colors with each movement it made. Following the noise, the young blonde four-year-old decided to investigate on her own. Now nearly arriving upon the peculiar sound, something caught her attention. Her older brother Lainer, a 5 foot 11, 17-year-old. His hair was just as light as his sister.
"There's my little troll, So what are you up to? Are you getting into trouble?" He said with a charming smile.
"I not a troll?"
Lainer let out a slight chuckle. "Of course not you're a princess."
Then there it was again that the harmonic rapturous tone. Following the almost visual waves of the colorful tinkles. It led her vision to a little trinket just above her bother's shoulder. Chandelier filtered down from above them, reflecting fragmented light like glitter.
"Lainer! What that?"
"This bell? Oh this is special"
"I wanna see it- PLEASE!"
With a chuckle, he said "Alright okay"
Lainer scooped her up in his arms. Piper peered at it intensely, poking it with her finger. On the bottom, a black feather was attached snugly.
"What is it?"
"Actually Piper, It's what I came to talk to you about."
"Huh?"
"I made some new friends an-"
"Fluffy!" Piper said while brushing her finger on the feather.
"Yes, yes I know it's soft. But listen I have something important to tell you."
"Okay? Tell me the important then."
"Well, I am going to be going away f-"
Piper's eyes started to swell up into big heaps of tears.
"NO! Stay with me Lainer."
"This is the important I had to tell you, Piper."
"I don't like this important."
"I made a promise that I can't break."
With snot running her face she said: "Promise?"
He sighed deeply "Hey this earring here. Anytime you hear or see it, it means I am watching out for you."
"You come back later?"
"Of course! Big brother Lainer will always come back. That is my promise to you my little troll.
"I not a troll!"
Piper and Lainer played for a while. He gave her his undivided attention.
Later that evening Lainer had said his good nights to Piper and he was off on his way to bed.
"Young Master Lainer!" Someone called out just as he was about the enter his room.
"What is it?
"The Manor is under attack! They are looking for the newly recruited Vixlic."
"What!?! Where is my Father?!?"
His face went cold and grim.
"He's been killed in combat, Sire I apolo-."
"PIPER!"
Lainer took off down the hall as fast as his legs could move. By the time he reached her room his lungs felt like they were on fire. Outside the door, he could hear sobs from his precious sister Unsheathing his sword he slowly opened her door. What he found was his sister being held at sword point.
"Who do you think you are!?!" Lainer sneered
The vile man had long silver hair. Despite the color, he was quite young maybe in his late 20's.
"Me? Well, I have many names but you can address me as Kyoko." It was almost as if he was taking pleasure in this situation.
"Let, Her, Go!"
"Now now no need for such rudeness. I don't really want to hurt her but you are making me chose some tough choices."
"What do you want with her?"
"It's not her I want. We want you Lainer, if you come with us I won't lay a finger on her. If you come quietly I'll let her go."
"Fine then" Lainer gritted his teeth.
"I'm glad you see it my way. All you have to do is drink this."
Right after Kyoko made a hand motion two men entered the room. One of them was holding a glass bottle. He handed it to Lainer urgingly. Lainer took the whole bottle with one gulp without hesitation.
"Good boy!"
"Yeah yeah no- I feel dizzy" with that lainer collapsed on the floor passed out.
"LAINER!!" Piper screeched on the top of her lungs.
"Take her to the millhouse." Kyoko calmly said.
"Night night."
"Lai-"
One of Kyoko minions knocked Piper out with some sort of sedative through a white powder her sprinkled on her face.
But that was 14 years ago...
She felt the sun hitting her face as my eyes begin to flicker open. Piper shook her head trying to brush off the strange, but an almost familiar dream.
"I can't remember anything from my childhood. Everything seems to be a blur. I know I was supposed to remember something but I can't seem to find it."She thought to herself "Well I guess I can't lie around in bed all day."
Piper had gotten ready for the day then headed towards the market in town. She knew she was getting close when the smelled the aroma of fresh bread hit her nostrals. At last, the colorful handmade kiosks where in sight. People filled the city square from every corner. The smells, the laughter, the bight colors everwhere she looked. It was like ecstosy to her senses. Piper wanted to hold on to this memory, to hold on so tight till her hand had got stiffened. "OH wow!" A particular flower stand had caught her attention.
