Alias:

Secret ID: Aida Atwood

Nickname(s): 'A', Sticky, Butterfingers

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Nationality: Canadian

Physical Description:
Aida is a sporty young woman, tall and muscular by most teenage girls' standards. She sees eye to eye with most men her age, standing 5'11" tall. Her hobbies have given her body good definition and kept her lean. Her northern European descent has given her a pale complexion, honey-gold hair, and ice blue eyes. She keeps her hair shoulder-length, and usually curled. Aida's casual attire is usually jeans, tanks or halters, and turtleneck sweaters if the weather calls for them. Workout wear is usually compression pants and a sports bra.

Aida's "Stiction" costume is a custom zentai suit. The primary color is dark green, with a black stripe running up the outer side of each leg up to the armpit. The collar area of the suit is also black, meeting with where the stripes end. Even though the suit has a full face mask, the material over the eyes is black in a 'domino mask' shape. The chest features a downward pointed pentagon in light green, with each of the sides slightly concaved. The pentagon is outlined thinly in black.

General Personality:
Aida gets bored easily, and pens up a lot of anxious energy when she has nothing to do. Quietly relaxing isn't really something that appeals to her, so she spends almost all of her free time split between passtimes. Since she was in elementary school she's played hockey and softball, done track and field, practiced judo and aikido, and fiddled with the machines in her dad's garage. More than a dozen other hobbies have come and gone, but those few mentioned above remained constant. She's a no-nonsense sort of person that doesn't like it when people beat around the bush or jerk her around. She trucks along at her own pace, usually pretty content with things.

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Powers and Abilities:
Frictional Alteration ~ Aida can alter the frictional forces exerted between two surfaces. She can both increase and decrease the friction present there. She can use this to skate around on concrete as though it were an ice rink, increase or decrease the static friction between a villain's feet and the ground to stick them in place or make them slip and slide, increase the air resistance surrounding a bullet to slow it down, climb up a perfectly smooth vertical surface with ease by increasing the static friction between her hands and feet and the wall, decrease the friction between a screw or bolt and its housing so that it comes loose at the slightest touch, etc. The possibilities are numerous, and a creative mind can eke a lot of use out of her power.

Mundane Talents ~ Aida has a number of skills that, while 'normal', might prove useful to a crime fighter. She has a solid understanding of mechanics, and can drive and repair most common vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles, atvs, motor boats). She has basic survival training. Her cardio and overall fitness are good. She is trained in first aid. She knows how to scuba dive and sky dive.

Weaknesses:
The range of Aida's ability is limited to a 30' radius around her, and she needs to concentrate to maintain large changes in frictional forces.
She has all the vulnerabilities of a regular human.
Other than evasion, she doesn't really have any defence against non-kinetic attacks (I.E. Fire, electricity, lasers, 'beams', etc.)

Fighting Style: Judo and Aikido

Voice Actor: Vanessa Marshall

Theme Song: "Don't Stop" by Foster the People (The Fat Rat Remix)
Very interested. I'll put together an application for consideration shortly.
Right. So I'd been holding off on this for a while because I figured I could deal with it, but I'm having a hell of a time seeing this as fun. Sorry to do this after taking up time to apply as Caster and all, but I'm out. The degree of fluentness you want with the canon and the pickyness on each and every subject just doesn't jive with me. I can understand that it's what you enjoy and how you want to run your RP, but it's not for me. I hope my dropping out doesn't significantly hamper the RP and that the spot gets filled soon; there were certainly a number of people that seemed disappointed about the roster being filled, so here's hoping one of them can step up.

Peace Out.
So I suppose it's out of the question that she contacted Kiritsugu at some point? (I'm not trying to be facetious, this is a serious question. Just want to make that clear because the internet can make regular questions seem like assholish rhetoric).
GuyYouWishYouDidntKnow said They were called in after the Second War because everyone was like "WHOO NO RULES NO PARENTS". Third War became a battle over the Lesser Grail with the Nazis and whatnot, but I don't recall it ever being said to have been destroyed.

Granted, I got my muddled here. 3rd war and onward the Church was involved.

GuyYouWishYouDidntKnow said That wasn't really public knowledge. Even the mathematicians aren't going to know something like that.

But wouldn't the supervising Church keep records of who participate/who won/the general goings on of the war? Like I mentioned in Yulia's biography, her whole investigation started with snooping through 8th Sacrament records. Since the Church is in charge of controlling information and cover-ups for the war, I'd think that covering up Bluebeard's Tentacle monster's appearance in the middle of the river would have been a big thing.

See above.

Again, wouldn't the 8th Sacrament keep records of the happenings of the war?

Nani?

I've seen that Q&A before, but nonetheless the Third Lesser Grail was destroyed and the fourth war didn't come any sooner, so it seems inconsistent.

Can you give me a source on the Third War's Lesser Grail getting destroyed? It was a fight over the Grail, but like I said, I don't recall it being said to have gotten destroyed.

Fate Complete Material III: World Material, in the timeline on page 7
1930s
Third Grail War
Held on the eve of WWII. There were battles over the Lesser Grail with the Imperial Army and the Nazis as well, and the fighting unfolded in the Imperial Capital, but the Lesser Grail was destroyed and the ritual failed. The evocation site of the Grail was at Fuyuki Church. Angra Mainyu was taken in and the Greater Grail was contaminated.
That's also why the Einzberns started using Homunculi as the vessels for the lesser grail, so that it could protect itself.

See the Kiritsugu thing above.

I'm not sure where you're going with this 'see above'. I'm not suggesting information on Kiritsugu is common knowledge, I'm suggesting that an exhaustive investigation conducted over 6 years by an inhuman intellect might turn up a pattern. I guess if you want to flat out say there are no leads and no one knows anything about it, that's your call as a GM.

Like I said, the suspicion that something's "wrong" with the Grail System is fine, but it'd pretty largely have to be vague. The level of information you want just isn't available.
Saying the information isn't out there feels a bit weak-sauce to me. Atlas' first director took information and extrapolated all the way to the end of the world; I'm not suggesting Yulia's anywhere near as good, but Nasu's alchemists can make some pretty ass-pull predictions and conclusions, and I still don't think I've gotten into ass-pull territory with what I'm asking for.

Yulia is complete, btw
Team Abe-no-ReiRei :P

Edit: I'm fine with 14 angry men too, though some of the Shikigami are probably going to be gals.''

Edit2: Or I could have all 12 Shikigami be gals, and have a kemonomimi harem... Nah...
Name: Yulia Vi Mitzenhoff
Gender: Female
Age: 27
Birthday: 04/01/1978

Personality: Focused, serious, and calculating. She tries to keep her thinking composed and rational, but she's quite prideful and takes offense easily; once her pride's been hurt she can become very childish and petty, and hold a grudge for a long time. Like many students of the Atlas Academy, she doesn't get along well with most magi of the Clocktower.

Biography and Family History: The Mitzenhoff family have studied alchemy since the 17th century, when the family founder Deitrich Von Mitzenhoff was drawn into the practice upon acquiring a collection of rare books. The books themselves held little practical knowledge, but where enough to instill in Deitrich a powerful curiousity. Curiousity became obsession, and he eventually brokered a connection with the Prague Association. Dietrich spent his life refining an understanding of modern alchemy in Prague. As the family's proficiency grew they also became more worldly, becoming acquainted with the other branches of the Mage's Association. These two factors led to a gulf in ideology between Dietrich and the family's second head, Gunther, which ended in Gunther leaving Prague to join the Atlas Academy two hundred and forty years ago.

Since then, the Mitzenhoff family has maintained their ties to the Atlas Academy, producing alchemists of varying quality. Yulia will be the family's fifth head, and is considered the most promising talent the family has yet produced. Still, the bloodline is weak by most magus' standards and Yulia possesses sub-par circuits in both quality and quantity. At Atlas, where lineage and magical circuits hold comparatively less weight, Yulia has earned recognition and praise for her quick, thorough, and inventive mind. Much of Yulia's professional life has consisted in and out of having her service lent under Atlas' contracts.

In 1999, one such period of contracted work had her assisting the Assembly of the Eighth Sacrament in analyzing questionable relics. It was at that time that she gained access to certain records detailing the Fuyuki Holy Grail, which piqued her scholarly interest. Throughout the next six years Yulia collected extensive data on the past Holy Grail Wars and the Grail War system, and through deductive reasoning understands the current state of the grail's corruption to a certain extent. Despite knowing of the Grail's flawed wish granting, Yulia has an interest in the Corrupted Grail's content: the 'mud'.

With the war approaching, Yulia made her way to Japan with the intent of participating. In truth she would have been satisfied even if she were only able to observe throughout the Grail War, but the proof of her being a master appeared shortly after when the command seals manifested on her hand. Despite not truly wanting a wish on the Grail, her goal requires the War to reach its climax without issue. To that end she intends to 'win' the war.

Lion's Cradle
The Lion's Cradle began as a proof of concept about using prana during the smelting, alloying, and working of metals to manipulate ductility and rigidity. Necessity had Yulia refine the Cradle into a practical weapon instead. The Cradle is a two-part assembly of gloves and wires. The wires are an alloy of adamantine and titanium that's been drawn to a diameter of 2 microns, but have retained an incredible tensile and shear strength. More importantly, the wires react to certain electrical signals. A certain frequency causes the wire's cross section to deform and flatten, changing it from a 'wire' to a 'ribbon'. The width of the ribbon's flattened surface is about 6 microns wide, but the cutting edges are flattened to a small fraction of a micron wide. Similarly to how the cross section can be manipulated, the rigidity of different segments of the wire can be modulated by combinations of electrical signals. This allows the wires' user a greater degree of control, though gross movements still have to be controlled manually. The key to the Lion's Cradle are the gloves, sewn from mithril thread, which have contacts made from thunderbolt iron embedded in them. Passing prana through the contact generates a low-level electrical current, which in turn passes down filliments in the glove and into the wires. The electrical current is not enough to use for direct attack, but is plenty to create the signals needed to manipulate the wires.
