I've had an idea cooking for years about a harem plot. Where a war hero (my character) is rewarded with land and a peerage and suddenly sees himself being pestered by other noble families looking to feel him out/tie him to their own political factions or respective families. The idea being because politics is politics, and nobles having multiple wives and/or one wife and multiple legal concubines isn't unusual. If anything the reverse is considered abnormal. Limiting oneself to single spouse makes little political sense, particularly when it comes to the idea of siring the next generation. So his concubines would be daughters of more established families. Promised to him willingly of their own accord or unwillingly thrown at him by their families in the hopes of seducing him, bearing his child and becoming his official wife. Which would be a coveted position more important than a mere concubine.

The bulk of the idea would be about politics more than sex, raising a new noble house from the ground up. Making alliances and enemies and the new lord relying on his new concubines from more established families to help him do all these things he's never had to do before. Possibly some rivalry and competition between the concubines as their all essentially trying to seduce him/become his official wife and secure his power for the sake of their own families.

Of course not all concubines need to be from nobility. There could be 'lesser' concubines and informal mistresses from more humble backgrounds. Other knightly families, military adjutants, or simply maids and servants that caught the lord's eye. How would these woman clash with their more highborn (and legally prioritized) 'sisters'?

I've never been sure how to write out that ideal effectively, without it just coming off as 'Looking for someone to play as my character's many lovers'. I'm also aware that this is often a tough sell for an idea. Asking a partner to play a harem. Which is why I am happy to take on the lions share of side characters and whatnot to balance things out. I'm also open to this being a small ground thing perhaps. Not just a 1x1 but a three way story perhaps to help split the character load out.

The setting itself would be freeform. Something we make up. The 'empire' could be entirely composed of a single race, human or otherwise. With only one species dominating and colonizing the stars, or be something more multi racial. I do see this as something sci-fi though i'm not necessarily bound to that. A good steampunk/fantasy/what-have-you pitch is welcome. But I've always love the idea of mixing high technology and spaceflight with neo-feudalism and aristocracy. It makes for such a fun and interesting combination. It's probably why I love Battletech so much :P

Anyway. I don't expect much nibbling on this as like I said, I know it's a tough sell at the best of times. Still. I recently had caused to be reminded of this old idea and figured it was time to try and pitch it. By all means hit me up if it interests you. Or you simply want to help me brainstorm and flesh out the concept without committing to the game.
How about an electro-priest? Or something like that? Always up for a 40k RP and an Adeptus Mechanicus theme no less? Please may I take part?

Certainly, however Electro-priests are one of those things that would also be limited to a larger player group, a smaller game would have everyone playing flavours of skitarii.

though it's a moot issue as it doesn't look like this game is going to happen. No one else seems interested.
We got one so far, any others feel like answering the call of the Omnissiah?

So I Recently replayed the video game 'Mechanicus' Where an explorator fleet of amdech and skitarii seek to plunder an awakening necron tombworld before the various lords, cryptek machines and other defenses fully come online. It's an excellent game and you should definetly buy and play it, it's alot of fun and has a truly banger OST.

I'm looking for any interested parties willing to try a game based specifically on the admech, similar to the idea of the video game Mechancius. Only in this the players aren't taking on the role of tech-priests but skitarii Alphas and primes leading their respective squads. Being part of an explorator fleet galavanting around the Imperium Nhilus trying to recover archeotech, kill xenos, and preferably not die in the process.

To that end any infantry squad is open to players. For reasons I hope are obvious, i'm not inclined to allow people things like onager operators or arial pilots, As those skitarii are almost always irrevocably hard-wired into their respective machines, much like a space marine dreadnought. They can't exit outside of them/cannot always interact with the rest of the players or the world around them.

So the options that are on the table for players range from skitarii Rangers and Vanguard, to Sicarians, Pteraxii, serberys riders, etc. I'm even open to the idea of a datasmith with a pair/trio of Kastelan robots, or a low level techpriest/enginseer directing a squad of kataphrons. But for those I would prefer a larger player pool as I would likely only allow one of each datasmith/kataphron squad. A smaller player pool would be limited more strictly to traditional 'troops & infantry' choices.

One's primary character would be their squad Alpha, but feel free to give as much or as little personality to other squad members. Kind of like shaping your own kill teams. Which is the vibe i'm going for here. As your squads earn battlefield achievements and honours they can earn equipment, cybernetic upgrades, i'm even toying with the idea of how to implement a battle honours/battle scars system like Kill team had. It'll be difficult for a freeform game, but not a system style game. So it's something i'm open to feedback on. Whether the game should be freeform or some kind of system/stat blocks/behind the scenes dice rolling going on

If the group ends up becoming large enough then I would welcome a co-gm.

Alright. maybe my OP didn't leave enough of a hook for people. I can progress the plot to planetfall if that makes it easier for people
You have not been brief for your specific role yet. that will come in the next post. As for wargear, ya shotguns are cool but I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you really want one you can adjust your CS now and it's no big deal, but boltguns are standard issue for a reason, They work in nearly any scenario and environment. I always think of space marine shotguns as clearing cramped space hulks & underground tunnel crawling but you do you.
ya
@GingerBoi123 character looks good,

As for everyone else. the first post is up, getyourselves into that drop pod. and/or submit your character sheets if you haven't already done so

“You are sons of Nocturne! Warriors born of fire and rock, forged by Nocturne's volcanic wrath and Vul'kan's adamantine will. You must strike with the molten fury of the Firedrakes who dwell within mount deathfire, face your foes with courage in your hearts & the Emperor's name on your lips....”

In the assault bay of the vanguard cruiser 'Khalkeus', Chaplain Kar'dem intoned the familiar sermon through both his helmet's speakers. Many, if not all of the force's veteran brethren had already heard this pre-battle speech before or a variation of it, and so they merely half-listened while performing final checks on their wargear and armour seals.

But not all the brethren of this strike force were centuries old battle brothers, And the Chaplain's pre-war sermon was not meant for the ears of brothers who had heard it's like scores of times before. But for the new 'little brothers' amongst their ranks who would not have heard it's ilk nor ever been subject to the organized havoc of an astartes strike force preparing for drop assault.

“Know these words, and know that this is what it means to be a Salamander! By your strength we will prevail, by your strength will the citizens of this world be made safe again.”

A squad of new recruits joined the strike force for this campaign. A squad of fresh faced warriors without a single honour-brand between them would now be tempered in the fires of battle for the first time. These un-blooded warriors knelt in a circle around the skull faced chaplain while the more veteran brothers waited patiently for the tech priests and lay-serfs to finish the rituals that would calm the drop pod's machine spirits. The stench of the oils and incense temporarily overpowered the stale odour of recycled oxygen while they performed their rites.

Chaplain Kar'dem waved his crozius over the head of each kneeling neophyte in turn as if to invoke a blessing or appeal for the safety of each in the name of the chapter's ancestors and the Emperor's watchful gaze.

“Do not pity the creatures we are about to kill for they are nothing. Mere tumors that infect the Emperor's realm like a cancer. They are deserving of neither respect nor mercy. They terrorize the Emperor's subjects, they defile the soil of a world claimed in his name! The citizens of this planet live in anguish, Their sons and daughters have died by the thousand to hold back the green tide. Though they are but men their sacrifice is great and their courage commendable, but now they have called out for their Emperor to protect them as is their right!” The chaplain's voice deepened into a harsh intimidating growl as he spoke on mankind's enemy, like the sound of volcanic rocks grinding and colliding. “And in the name of Vul'kan we will answer!”

Chaplain Kar'dem lifted his skull-faced helm from his young charges towards the waiting drop pods. Techmarine Agasus who had been overseeing the rituals of preparation had now deemed the machine spirits sufficiently appeased & given his blessings for the armoured warriors to board. Scout sergeant T'phor was also waiting patiently, or impatiently (it was hard for even a chaplain to read him) for the sermon to finish and to take back control of his charges again.

“The time has come to prove yourselves. Remember these words, remember your training and remember that you are scions of the XVIIIth primarch, the blood of the Emperor's own son beats through your veins. The honour of the chapter and the lives of millions depend on you. We will not fail because we cannot fail.” Kar'dem swept his crozius towards an empty drop pod that scout sergeant T'phor was climbing into.

“Now go, let yourselves be shaped by the anvil of war! And may the xenos break against our fury!”
Synposis:

A Salamanders Strike force of nearly forty brethren has been assembled in response to a plea for aid from the world of Ontium. Beset by Greenskin invasion following the unexpected emergence of a Space hulk translating into the system's orbit. The planetary defense force was quickly overwhelmed and barely maintains control of the planet's largest spaceport. General mobilization of traditional military assets was calculated to take too long and Ontium (and it's vital agricultural supplies) would fall before the Imperial guard could arrive in sufficient force.

As the astropathic plea reached the Salamander's fortress Monestary on Prometheus, a strike force was immediately authorized to assemble & respond. Seeing an opportunity for much needed experience a handful of newly released warriors from the 7th company were seconded to this strike force.

The Vanguard strike cruiser 'Khalkeus' was quickly fitted and its escorts assembled. It now sails through the Immaterium hoping to reach Ontium in time before the planetary defense force falls entirely.

People of Import:

Chaplain Kar'dem - Salamanders chaplain and the Ontium strike force commander

Forge-brother Agasus - Senior techmarine assigned to the Khalkeus. Overseeing the strike force's limited vehicular and technical assets.

Honoured Ancient Su'Matr - Once a storied veteran of the 1st company, now what little remains of his physical form is interred within a dreadnought sarcophagus.

Apothecary Dac'taro Grek - Salamanders Apothecary assigned to the Ontium Strike force.

Scout sergeant T'phor Esos - a veteran battle brother & Scout instructor directly overseeing & evaluating the neophytes performances.
