There has never been, in the history of animated media, a single good anime.

He's the 'everyman' on a ship full of strange and exotic aliens, which makes him stand out more than the aliens do, to me. He doesn't bullshit Shepard with Cerberus propaganda like Miranda does, even though she has a turn of heart eventually too, so he's more or less straight with you. When I was you know, roleplaying, I liked him because (I felt) he was in the same boat as my Shepard, working with Cerberus because the Council won't pull their head of their cloacas and listen.

EDIT: so you are objectively or subjectively saying that the reapers arent particularly intruging?

Subjectively, of course. I don't particular care for things being 'unknowable or indescribable'. it's lazy. I don't like Lovecraft.

but I love Garrus.

Some of ME2 characters are good, some are meh, some are quite bad. Regardless, the game doesnt really give you enough time for them to develop. 1 recruitment and 1 loyalty mission each spreads it all a bit too thin. Can you really tell me what we learned about Jacob in his loyalty mission? Does anyone even care?

>'Some of ME2 characters are good, some are meh, some are quite bad'
Are we talking objectively or subjectively here? A lot of 'gamers' confuse these two concepts. I like Jacob. I like his loyalty mission, too.

I'd call it more two quests and their conversations, but character development arcs are tied up in 3, not 2.

I like the characters and characterization in ME2, and I don't believe that focusing on the crew of the Normandy over crazy robot cthulhu beasts that aren't even particularly intriguing because they're so unknowable in their unknownness counts as filler, is all. but i'm not crowbcat or superbunnyhop so I don't know.

The whole collectors plot really doesn't mean much of anything in the grand scheme of things, they are just another baddie faction being controlled by the reapers. Apart from the human colony abductions to build that ridiculous terminator they weren't posing any sort of threat to the universe that the was some how more pressing than the reapers.

Mass Effect 2 has a Dark and funny script with a some cool characters, but the whole game is essentially a glorified side quest.

Just like New Vegas.

I always felt like the characters were the main focus of Mass Effect 2, not exactly the Reaper part. and it's not just 'some cool characters', most of the quests you have are recruitment and loyalty missions. ME2 isn't filler, it just doesn't focus on the Reaper conflict as much as it does Shepard and their crew.
What exactly about ME2 makes it 'filler'?
Yeah, can we stop posting Youtube Game Memesters and Twitter posts as if it's some end all be all commentary on the state of games in general?

Oh, boy.

"It's a good game, just not a good mass effect game."

I've so far felt it's been a worthy send up. I expected it to not "FEEEEEEL" like a Mass Effect game because we're outside of the Milky Way and thus outside of the greater established Mass Effect mythos.

That isn't a problem.

I dont think the reviews are awful I think the general consensus is that its an above average game but ultimately a disappointment to the franchise.
Most of the reviews seem to put it somewhere around 7/10

I don't know how the consensus of 7/10 measures as "pretty disappointing." 5/10 is an average, mediocre game. by that metric, 7/10 is quite above average.

As far as I've played, the Bioware Standard Plot of "Hey, I need help/find a guy, but I have to help/investigate these 3-4 other groups/people/plants before they can help me" doesn't seem to be that apparent so far, but I've only just recruited Jaal. Combat is pretty fun. Which is important, no matter what babbies cry about. If a game isn't fun, if the mechanics are shit, I'm not sticking around for the gr8 stooree.

As for the story, I like it. I like that, as far as I've played, there's no galaxy shattering problems to worry about, just finding the arks/planets and dealing with the kett/anagara conflict along with investigation the Remnant. It's all localized and personal.

But these are first impressions. I see the animation problems but they don't bother me, specifically. I find bad voice acting more egregious than bad animations, and so far bad VA is few and far between.

8/10 not enough turian babes.

The black guy got far less shit, but the woman (cora harper) was definately a huge problem for the Freezepeach warriors. Complaining they made her too butch and ugly to appease feminists etc.

Yeah, heaven forbid Bioware don't have making a gamer's pindick hard a priority. Unlike the Witcher 3, of course.
Golly.

Anyway, Buffy might not happen, unless by popular demand. I'm planning stuff, Lori. Thangs.
