This is a trans-Apocalyptic RP. A short while before the Apocalypse strikes Earth, gods from the Prehistoric eras of the world will return from death/dormancy/sealing/whatever and start to be believed in again. Prehistory is filled with eras of the world similar to the Hyborian Era from Robert E Howard, Tolkien and even Dungeons and Dragons. However, there is little to no archaeological proof of these times, except for recent discoveries around the world and Antarctica.
Characters start out with what's called a "Domain" which is kind of an element of a god's power, plus an "Area of Influence", which is a refinement of the domain. For example, Zeus'es would be "Sky" as a Domain, and an "Area of Influence". PCs start out with only one even if they were a god of many things in their era. In terms of power level, characters might be compared to high level Urban heroes. They can destroy/withstand attacks from city block/multiple city block levels of power, and have some reality warping power.
Gods need some way of keeping a low profile at first, or at least someway of compensating for being out in the open. The world is somewhat like the real world, but there are real witches/vampires/werewolves and even a few folklore creatures/cryptids around, and some scientific wonders that the real world doesn't have. Not to mention some divine beings that are much higher on the food chain than the PCs at the moment, but the absolute worst problem are the demons, and more specifically The Devil himself is looking for the PC gods to induct them into his service, in an offer they can't refuse.
In this world, there is an Abrahamic like figure, but he's more like The Presence from DC than Jesus/YHWH. "God works in mysterious ways" is a big understatement. There are some classical and ancient deities such as Zeus and Odin running around in disguise too. The setting is currently in the year future, 2035. However, technology experienced a big boom, reaching what would have been 2057 levels of science, due to covert alien influences. Life isn't quite Cyberpunk levels of bad, but there are many new problems, solutions and differences from our own world.

There are ways of growing more powerful. For one thing there is a baseline of power each PC has. They will slowly grow into this power level regardless of game play, but there other ways of growing power, faster to.
Worship/belief/loyalty of mortals, sacrifices (of many different kinds), fighting/defeating others, discovering artifacts, sponsoring mortal spell casters/mystics, creating powerful artifacts , etcetera, are all common ways that gods can grow in power.
