why am I still awake at 2 am

I enjoy a good story! Even more so if it's intriguing enough to suck me right into it, as though I were there alongside the characters. I've been through a wide range of characters over the years and often if I am joining a story I'll ask around as to what the others feel they are missing in the story character wise and develop one to fill in any gaps.
OOC chatter is good too if people aren't in the mood to be in character, right? Writing is based off a lot of things and how people are feeling at a particular time can impact their IC writing drastically. Some people prefer planning certain things out OOC and I'm ok with that also.
I guess I'd say I'm very opened minded. Always encouraging newer writers to just start writing. Details or the etiquette of their writing doesn't really matter much to me! only that they are getting it out.
I'm open to writing for a wide range of genres, but I will specify this though! I live in reality, so I do not enjoy writing about it. Mostly fantasy and anything that does not feel too real.
I'm a fantasy writer at heart though, and I enjoy planning out worlds to base novels and stories in ahead of time, so that when I am ready, I can just focus on the story writing while not having to worry about how anything in particular will fit into the world or worlds the story is set in. Probably one of the downsides to this preference is that world building can take a long time!

the town on the outskirts of Wel'Chi's territory, Solomon, had felt different as of late. More so than what was usually expected of any settlement really. Towns expanded as the population demanded in this new world, and it was all the elder could do but try his best to adapt to the frequent changes. The death of the towns lawman had invited a feeling of lawlessness, people going around doing as they pleased with no resistance and he could only hope order would be restored soon before it became necessary for him to intervene.
With all the uneasiness the spirits had been demonstrating the shifter's attentions had been elsewhere lately. Hell, even the wildlife and vegetation had be acting differently as of late. He had been granting Solomon a wide berth, avoiding the town, only drifting trough when his supplies began to dwindle. It just so happened that this morning a drifter had arrived. From the moment Wel'Chi laid eyes on the man he knew something was different about this one and his interest had be peaked as he was tending to his horse. Packing the saddlebags with supplies in preparation for the journey back to his dwelling half a days ride from down.
Naturally the stranger had wandered into the saloon and Wel'Chi had left town before seeing this man again but the shape shifter had no doubts that their paths would cross again soon when the time was right. Just a short distance out of town he heard the gunshot echo and smiled to himself. Maybe change would be coming sooner than anticipated.

Personality: Long existence has taught him well. Slow to anger and very patient. When one exists for so long, anger, hatred, greed all become mostly irrelevant. Seeks to share his wisdom with others, very approachable and curteous.
History: Wel’Chi has known these lands for it seems an eternity, eyes witness to rivers run dry and the death of entire forests. the up routing of native tribes forcing them to relocate or worse. Shamans speak of him in stories and he is known by many names both modern and ancient.
He saw with those same eyes.the annihilation of his tribe because of their refusal to leave their territories in order to make way for the frontier. But yet he remains, tribeless, forced into solitude barely escaping with his life. It would have been a fine death at that, he would have been cut down standing against their foes, but fate had other plans.
Weapons: A repeater rifle
Skills:
Wel'Chi has the ability to change forms whenever as long as he has the strength and stamina to undergo such transformations. After years of studying nature, his hand to hand combat is quite formidable, flowing from one strike to the next as water flows through a stream.
Firearms: Since the frontier began its expansion he has carried a repeater rifle with him and possesses acute marksmanship skills.
Magic:
Using his affinity to nature, he can use magic to heal. There are also destructive spells in his arsenal. all Magic is accessed through invoking certain spirits to carry out the magic.

hmmm nothing too hardcore. Mayhap a human form, wolf form (not werewolf) and bird form, maybe an eagle or something I'd like for him to have more forms at his disposal, but we'll see. Also With some magical experience and a mean shot with a rifle?
