@Joytex can't wait! By the way, is the simple Vhaelle Targaryen an actual footnote in the history? I couldn't find her but I'm only asking cuz I'm to egg n between being her husband/retainer and their house or good ole Maelys and the Golden company
The Kautada race are diminutive in stature on their home world the omnivores are the closest thing to 'apex predators' as you get... but that description is perhaps misleading. Kautada are bipedal salamander like amphibian-humanoids and are known for their intelligence, not martial prowess. Their world simply never had any animal larger or more dangerous than the rather mild mannered salamander people, allowing their evolution and society to abandon thoughts of war quite quickly. Early on their innate intelligence was turned away from conquest and unification of their world to the communal pursuit of scientific enlightenment. Their brains are *exceedingly* complex and advanced when compared to other similar races, leading to your average Kautada having an average intelligence on level with human scientists, intellectuals and nearing their geniuses. Were they a more ambitious and aggressive race they would be a dangerous force. Luckily for the galaxy the 'Space newts', as they are nicknamed, have an almost universally helpful and friendly disposition thanks to long millennia without predators and relative peace among their own race.
Their society is largely without class restrictions as all Kautada could be considered intellectuals, and their governing body reflects this. Known as the 'Ethics Committee' rather than being voted in or owing to dynasties the Committee is completely voluntary. Their purpose is both to ensure fair treatment at all levels in their society as well as to monitor all scientific projects and research for breaches in their 'Moral codes'. These Moral Codes are the only law the Kautada have had for thousands of years now and are followed closely by all Kautada lead scientific endeavors. Often annotated, added to and edited, the Codes are more than flexible enough to allow for research to move forward but strict enough to let their inquisitive and often, dangerously curious minds from wandering to dark places.
Upon meeting the Holy Britannian Empire, per normal policy of the Ethics Committee they presented their races innate intelligence and offered their help on any research endeavors, allowing human firms and think tanks to recruit Kautada as they wished, since the amphibious humanoids were so very eager to help advance any and all scientific research. As with all such offers it of course came with the caveat that all projects in which a Kautada was involved that an ethics representative periodically check up to ensure the codes were not being violated.
Appearance: Kautada are a strange race of small, amphibious, salamander like creatures. The race has pale skin, slightly overlarge heads, small prehensile tails, webbed feet and fringe gills on the sides of their necks. Their eyes are solid red orbs and their skin is often moist and shiny, aand they have four arms. L'Azul is no exception, he stands at about 5'3, a bit tall for his race, with four arms and fringed gills. His hands are almost always moving, adjusting tools or jotting down notes in his messy hand writing or desperately trying to find what he needs among a mess of disorganized papers. He is hairless, like all of his race, and in his gills are small tube-like containers filled with a concoction of water and a slimy substance. His skin is coated in the substance which is not unlike slimy water, and his gills take in the rest. He has a small metal protrusion at the base of his neck which is his only outward cybernetic enhancement, being a reaction booster.
He most often wears a silver bomber jacket with several symbols along his shoulders, under which is a simple black shirt. For time in arid environments he has a special rig he hooks along his neck in order to breathe and remain moist. He does not often look the part of a scientist, to be quite frank, preferring a more casual appearance.
Role on ship: Doctor/Medic
Bio: L'Azul was once a promising micro-biologist, bio-mechanical engineer and brilliant researcher. While no genius, L'Azul is possessed of an intelligence beyond the average of his already intelligent race. After graduating from a prestigious university on the Kautada home world with more degrees than most humans could get in a lifetime, the brilliant scientist was excited to cut his teeth on something truly *groundbreaking*. He would receive that opportunity not long after, twenty years ago he was offered a position in a truly incredible program by the Triganavia corporation. He was offered a position on the 'Aylv' or 'New Man' project, creating a new race! It excited the Kautada to no end, and it was all that he had ever wanted... at first.
In the early stages of creating the chimeric creatures it was all he hoped, stimulating and truly ground breaking they were creating more than mere clones, but a truly new species! With his many qualified fields Laz was made a higher level researcher, working on multiple parts of the project. It was not until the race of 'Aylvs' was finished that Laz began to question some of the practices. He, like any scientist of course, understood that certain ethical boundaries often prevented the forward motion of science. However everyone has a limit... or at least that was what Laz had believed. After the birth of the Aylven race things changed quickly as stress testing began. At first it was just as he suspected, harsh environmental tests to see how far these creatures could go at great pain and loss too the test subjects. Uncomfortable but Laz, with his races great curiosity, stomached it. Rapidly however things grew worse, the first straw for Laz being the... 'tasting' tests for the sentient races usefulness as rations. This horrified the doctor and he certainly considered leaving... but it was so very complicated.
If Laz sought to leave, thanks to the horrid breaches in morality he could reveal, would be dissavowed by the powerful Triganavia corporation and end any hope he'd ever have at furthering his career... so he swallowed his qualms. It only got worse from there. Unspeakable things were done to the Aylvs, and Laz could not help but be involved in some. Breaking bones to test strength, worsening living conditions and further cruel treatment. Needless interrogations just to test how well they held up and even forcing Aylvs to watch their fellows beign subjected to such treatment to test mental strain. Any time Laz was not spending taking part in these horrific experiments he was in his office, alone. He lost a large amount of weight, had issues eating and keeping down food and generally his health deteriorated. Kautada handle stress poorly with their complex brains and the shame of it all overwhelmed the doctor often, causing him to break down when alone. He spent long hours writing in the margins of his notes awful, horrible things about himself and Triganavia.
Salvation came... of a truly terrible sort. The Aylvs broke free and in an orgy of hate filled, and to L'Azul justified, violence and brutality swept through the facility. Laz escaped mostly due to luck along with only 20% or so of the staff. After that he went into hiding, knowing once the Ethics Committee discovered all that had happened and that Laz had reported none of it he'd not only lose all credibility, but no doubt be arrested as well. For Twenty years he has stewed on all that happened and spent his days as a doctor for the downtrodden and criminal elements of the galaxy under the pseudonym of Holiday. Now perhaps he has found a way out of his wretched existence amongst the stars once more... or so he must hope.
Abilities: While Laz's specialty is micro biology and other more esoteric studies he is also a certified medical doctor, surgeon and xeno biologist. He earned his degrees in these early on, more as a gateway to the more specialized fields he would eventually focus on. He fell back on these studies during his twenty years in hiding as a sort of criminal and black market doctor to get by. As such they have been sharpened dramatically. He picked up a smattering of 'street smarts' as well in order to survive, but he is by no means a fighter.
Weapon(s) : Personal heavy caliber, bio-capsule side arm.
Family/Relationship: None he has maintained contact with.

I apologize profusely, but I will have to be canceling this RP. A lack of interest at the posting of the OOC, and the fact we've yet to have anyone show interest in anything more than single characters. That mixed with a loss of motivation for me has sealed the RPS fate.
