@FrizanCongrats dude/ madam (strange pronouns I know). I like your idea of revamping the contest mod. Hope you success.

@Xanthinelullaby And yeah, most will be dealt with what @Frizanhad said above. The guild does have rules about this, but it is based on the person's will to do it. And maybe some of us are just too lazy or have no idea how to do it. So we would just leave them there. But don't worry, maybe the Mahz the Creator will do something or the mods like Ruby and others will discuss something. /shrug

Oh, and just another thing. Don't double post. Write all you have to say in one turn and then post it. I really don't want to read the introduction on page 3 while the body is somewhere around page 4.

Sorry I’m still getting use to this website and the posting style 😰

Nonono, don't change the subject. You always change the subject. This is why I want a divorce.

But I don’t want a divorce 😁

Just following your lead.

Is it weird that actually made me laugh? 😂
<Snipped quote by Xanthinelullaby>

Oh jeez, I'm so sorry for being rude. I never realised all artists in the world met together and appointed you their righteous spokesperson, so you could speak on behalf of all of them.

No artist likes their work being stolen, but most of them are a lot more reasonable about it. I suggest you act the same.

Wow just making yourself look like an even bigger ass
@Xanthinelullaby

I don't really want to dabble in this discussion, but just from skimming over this thread, you're coming across as the rude one here. I think people are just trying to view the situation from both sides and for the most part, they've been polite about the matter. You calling people hypocrites and morons isn't really helping your argument or image here, nor does it speed up the process of figuring out what to do regarding your art.

Pardon me, wasn’t trying to be rude. I’m just sick of people thinking it’s okay to do this. And I didn’t start the name calling.
@XanthinelullabyAnd you want us to write the links for the image source?

Yeah that would solve a lot of problems, Not giving proper credit is what really pisses artists off. A lot of us won’t care about you using it as long as you ask then credit it.
<Snipped quote by Xanthinelullaby>

A) There's a search function on the site that lets you search posts by specific users.
B) Changing your image is clearly an admission of guilt.
C) "I'm gonna change my image after being called out for being a hypocrite, but you're the hypocrite."

“Changing my image is an admission of guilt”

No moron changing my image is so I don’t have to listen to your hypocritical bullshit.

But I’m done arguing with people like you who think it’s okay to use someone else’s hard work. Pathetic
It’s amazing how many of just don’t get the real issue, You’re using someone else’s character design for you own OC.

Here's my question, do you own that picture you yourself already have on the site? Or have permission by the owner to use it? I have a feeling that's not yours.

If it is, you have about four hundred people (AT LEAST) using that exact same picture right now.

Because although I do understand and empathize with artists that create work, having others plagiarize or use their work without permission is unfortunate. It's an outright lie that people have never done it themselves before, with the vast amount of pictures on the internet, posted anywhere and everywhere. It's impossible to find the original creator, most times. The intention is so rarely to be used as theft. So when people are so full of ego to assume it will never be done, is quite laughable.

As long as it isn't taking away their profit and they aren't claiming it's their picture, the best thing you can do is directly contact the person using it. They'll likely not be that rude to you, if you're simply kind in return. I don't want to say, purposefully stealing art is okay because you post it on the internet. But have a little more faith in others and don't be a hypocrite and use art that doesn't belong to you.

My faith has dwindled over the hundreds of people, who are in fact RUDE about it and refuse to take it down. I’ve had this problem many times and I’m quite sick of it. As far as your insults go, they mean little to nothing, because you don’t know me and you haven’t been on our side of the spectrum. How would you feel if someone took from your role play posts and didn’t bother to give credit? And for your “problem” on finding the original artists, it’s called a reverse image search. Do enough research and you’ll the artist, if you don’t, then DONT USE IT.

and the image was sent to me by a friend who asked me to use it so she could always find my posts, but I’ll change it just to show that the only hypocrite is you.
I can see this.

The difference between Facebook/Pintrest/Instagram/Tumblr is that, when you share a post (reblog, repost, pin to a board, share the link on your profile, whatever) it usually directly links back to the artist. Saving a work of art and uploading it to some random forum isn't exactly proper exposure considering most people won't even check the artist's signature or research where it came from. You guys talk about it as if you're doing the artist a favor, but you're really not.

Some artists don't even like their artwork saved and uploaded to different Instagram accounts.

More than that, it may just be a matter of the artist feeling weird about their stuff on a roleplay forum. A quick browse through RPG will eventually lead to some poorly written roleplays or even the 1x1 section with 18+ tags and some people discussing sexual shit. Maybe they just don't want to be connected to a site that has content that makes them feel weird or uncomfortable.

What if that image was for a character they spent months to years creating, and they don't want someone else's shitty roleplay character attached to it?

Artists upload their artwork online mostly for proper exposure to land clients and jobs, not to be used by a random dude for his roleplay. What if the piece is a part of their online portfolio? I wouldn't want someone linking that important of artwork to a CS.

Maybe you think this is all selfish of them, but who cares? Respect their decision. Why are more than half the people here discussing whether it's right or wrong for artists to think that way, rather than just discussing what staff should do about it (which was the topic at hand, actually, not about why artists may have a problem with linking art to RP forums and what you think of it. Lol).

Just as YouTube removes videos with a copyrighted song at the artist's request, it's the staff's job to remove copyrighted material at the artist's request. Doesn't matter if you think it's unfair or stupid or that you can make it right by "linking it to their crappy blog." If they want it taken down, then just take it down. Respect for the art community, guys.

Just some two cents from the other side.

Thank you for bringing that into perspective.

NO ONE who uses another persons art has ANY right to get mad when they are asked by the original artist, to take it down.

YOU DID NOT MAKE IT, YOU DO NOT HAVE RIGHTS TO IT.
