Description:
Jake stands at 6'0" high and has a slender appearance typical of someone his height who isn't used to strenuous labour. He has short black hair and green eyes. It's said that outlining his pupil is a reddish ring although it's very hard to notice without close inspection. A clear scar can be seen trailing down the left side of Jake's face, from eye level to just above his jaw line. Jake tends to wear rather basic attire of jeans and t-shirt with the occasional zip up hoodie. His preferred footwear is often boots, regardless of the situation.
Personality:(A brief outline of their demeanor.)
A quiet soul, but out of choice rather than lack of social ability. From his past Jake finds it difficult to trust both magic users and non-magic users unwilling to open up less what he says gets turned against him. However on the inside of the tough social exterior is a friendly, and sometimes chatty individual to those who had endured the initial hardship of getting to know them.
In combat Jake is typically strategical, often trying to outwit his opponent into making a desired movement allowing Jake the upper hand on the spell casting front. However this tends to take a drastic turn when Jake is close to or on the receiving end of physical harm, stirring up an initial panic followed by a self consumed rage.
Skills: (Magical or practical abilities.)
Flaming Grasp/Burning hands: A basic pyromancy spell where magic energy is channelled into the casters hand as an outward projection allowing for close range combat where necessary.
Flame conjuration: Often activated as a small flame levitated above the casters palm, not to be confused with the equally common fireball. The flame can act as either a light or heat source, but offers no use in combat, unless were stupid enough to try and grab hold of it.
Flame weapon: From envisaging a weapon such as a club or short-sword Jake can conjure the weapon from flames. The weapon offers no inherent ability over that of martial weapons with the exception of being able to burn that it makes contact with. With concentration the weapon can momentarily be increased in heat production to the point that it could cut through a martial weapon opposing it. Doing this however is not only draining on Jake but also leave its mark by burning the hand that wields it, though Jake will commonly hide this fact from observing eyes.
Fireball: Common pyromancy spell for fast, ranged combat. The fireball can either be conjured from one hand, or for larger, more damaging effects from both hands to form a single fireball. The fireball is launched in a outward trajectory with a two handed created orb having greater range potential then a single handed one.
Logical Mind: Inherited from the family bloodline, Jake's methodical way of thinking allows him to easier understand complex problems. This also aids in strategic composition when in combat.
Weaknesses: (Achilles' Heels that can be exploited by enemies.)
Over thinker: Sometimes when a direct approach is the better option Jake overthinks a combat situation missing out on opportunities to either attack, counter or evade leading him losing any upper hand he may have based on raw skill or power.
Blood Rage: Jake's fighting prowess and calm is limited by his advantage in combat. As his defeat becomes more apparent his fighting becomes more wild, putting both himself and his allies in more danger.
Aquamancy cancellation: As could be expected Aquamancy of equal or greater skill could be used to cancel out Jake's magical combat abilities.
No need for weapons: Though Jake would claim to not 'need' weapons in combat this comes from an inexperience in using martial weapons and firearms alike. Though he has some insight on how to potentially wield melee combat weapons to some effect he would find preference in his own magic.
Brief History:
Lucshen Family - Magical Cult appeasers, stripped of former name and honours.Aside from this small footnote not much is known about the Lucshen name, a name that had only come to be from the fallout of the war. The name had been passed to certain members of a particular family as a means of punishment for their involvement, or lack thereof. Only due to their efforts within the magical community prior to the war was such a light punishment provided.
The terms were simple, all those of the Firestrom family that had served the Magical Cult would inherit the name Lucshen along with any offspring of present or thereafter. All members of the Firestrom family that had not, would retain their names and honours but were not permitted to commune with the Lucshen's. If a member of the Lucshen family wished to re-inherit their former name a proving or offering would be required of sufficient appeasement to the Council of the Eight Powers.
This of course would be impossible to overturn to those who had fought in the war themselves. Though to the offspring of those that fought less harsh judgement would be passed. Though the judging should be unbiased the deep wounds of war will always cloud peoples judgement, were the foot soldiers so easily forgiven, the punishment would of likely been called into question. The Lucshen would be almost completely off the radar until Jake's enrolment at Marchand School of Sorcery, the expected effect of a name associated with traitor within the magical community.
Firestrom Family - May the flame of knowledge burn ever eternalThe Firestrom family are known for both their inherit skill in pyromancy and strategical mindedness. Given this it was not difficult to foresee that once war broke out their assistance was sought after by both sides. Initially the Firestrom family had refused to get involved, but as time dragged on it became more apparent that this was not a stance they'd be able to maintain. Both sides were growing impatient and involvement was becoming less sought out than it was demanded. Given the personal interests and ambitions of different family members it was inevitable the house hold would be split. Resulting in an almost clean fifty percent cut between those that would fight for the cult and those that would defend the world against them. Or so it was thought...
A plan that went horribly awry, leaving great numbers dead within the magical community. Serving to the longevity of the war a plan hatched by the family to lead the magical cult into a defection trap had failed. Resulting in the Firestrom members that fought for the magical cult to go into hiding and several of those who fought for the magical community dead.
Once the war had ended, the morality of the Firestrom family had been called into question, but judgement would only be passed on those that had sided with the magical cult. Given the testimony that a 'plan' to end the war had gone wrong, one that was explained in great detail to the council, the punishment delivered was lightened. Though the council did not see fit to punish though that had fought in defence against the cult, with their strategies during the war effort being praised and honoured.
Thus was the split of the Firestrom family and the creation of the Lucshen. Though for most the connection between these two families was not common knowledge and only on the council records.
