Bio

Thanks for taking the time to read this. So, internet alias being Alarieth. I'm a 21-year old male with several years experience in roleplaying. That being said, I'm not a native English speaker, so bear that in mind please. Even so, I don't think my roleplaying suffers from it.

Well, with OP nowhere to be found, do we want to undertake something regardless?
King reporting in. o7

Name: Valorian Lionfury.

Age: 52.

Gender: Male.

Race: Human.

Side: Lawful/neutral Good. His Royal Majesty King Lionsfury, Stalwart Protector of the Realm, The Lion's Fury, The Bright Lion, ...

Weapon(s):

  • Heartseeker: A large ancestral great sword, said to have been passed down the line of Lionsfury. The blade itself is a dull red color, stained according to legends by the blood many foes, although the truth might be less romantic. The blade is nearly as important to the line of kings as the crown itself, said to have been bestowed with multiple enchantments over the course of history.
  • Amulet of Kings: Another royal heirloom, a priceless artifact that should only be worn by the king himself, guaranteeing his safety on the field of battle and in the safety of his own chambers alike.

  • Righteous fury: Valorian engulfs himself in a cloak of bright flames, increasing his overall strength, endurance, stamina and reflexes tenfold for a set period of time, as well as causing a searing heat to burn his enemies within range.
  • Healing touch: The ability to heal light to mild wounds.

Talent(s):

  • Veteran commander: At his age, he has been in multiple battles and has sufficient experience to fill a book of his own. He knows how to maneuver troops and is aware of strategical necessities.
  • Skilled warrior: He has fought personally in battle, no stranger to combat.
  • Diplomat: He has long been able to placate the nobles and keep himself on the throne.
  • Wisdom/Intelligence: Valorian attempts to maintain on top of matters, knowing about the world and those in it.
  • Linguistics: He has enough knowledge to be able to understand fragments of most languages.
  • Rider: Most often, Valorian is seated on horseback rather than on foot while travelling and in battle, able to command his horse accordingly.

Personality:
Stern and stoic are among two of the best words to describe Valorian, which is quick and efficient: two more concepts Valorian holds great value to. His rule is direct and firm, leaving little to no room for doubt or disobedience. To him, making the wrong choice is not quite as terrible as remaining indecisive towards a decision. Many would consider this rash or even unwise at times.
He has a rigid discipline, expecting immediate loyalty when demanded and utter devotion to the crown and the cause. No stranger to combat or battle, Valorian is a firm believer in achieving results, even when it might mean sacrificing certain things.

To many of his loyal subjects and supporters, Valorian is an inspiration of determination, willpower, holiness and righteousness. To his enemies and the opposition however, he resembles little else than a narrow minded, ruthless tyrant. To a King, the good and the bad qualities would always be exaggerated depending on their own views.

He is willing to shoulder all the burdens of Kingship on his own, never looking back on decisions even if they proved to be the wrong ones in the end, his unwavering personality a beacon of vigilance and single minded determination. In his heart however, he harbors plenty of doubts, though these will never pass out of his inner circle of people whom he trusts, well aware of the power of his public image.

Biography:
No matter if he wanted to or not, Valorian had always been meant to be king from the very day he was born. As first son of the previous king, nearly every day of his life was spent grooming him for the day of his coronation. This meant lessons from the best tutors from across the land in subjects such as math, history, geography and linguistics. In addition to that, he was also subjected to arduous training in combat, command, diplomacy and logistics.

The day where he was to succeed his father came all too soon however. At the mere age of sixteen, Valorian's father and predecessor was slain on the field of battle by dark magics. Rather than to allow the nobles to form a regency, Valorian instantly took up the mantle of protector of the realm, riding into battle and making up for the suffered defeat beforehand that had cost his father's life. After that, there was little to no doubt about his legitimacy and ability to rule, as well as command on the field of battle.

Through his many years of leadership, Valorian has been confronted with more than a few threats to both himself, the throne and his kingdom. One of the most prominent occasions was when his younger brother succumbed to the powers of darkness, attempting to overthrow his brother and his realm from within. However, through his vigilance, Valorian was able to quell the rebellion and betrayal while it was still young. He personally ended it by publicly severing his brother's head from his traitorous shoulders, showing his cold detachment and the determination that was needed to win this war to the crowd.

However, his rule has not at all been flawless. Due to his near fanatical contempt for the forces of darkness, he would tolerate no corruption in his realm. When word broke out of heresy and people turning to darkness in the town of Rung, Valorian showed some of his true colors. Without mercy or hesitation, nearly the entire population of Rung was put to the sword and torch as an example. Rather than leaving it as a pile of rubble, Valorian ordered all remnants of the town to be erased. Where were once buildings an people, now a vacant field remains, Valorian's attempt to deny darkness any and all footholds within his realm. Much of what happened at Rung remains a mystery however, as many disagree to the extent of darkness that had encroached on it. Was it the site of a massacre or a glorious battle?

Even more so perhaps than the rest of his subjects, Valorian wishes an end to this conflict, eager to bring battle with a decisive blow in order to scatter the enemy and succeed where his forefathers had not. He disagrees with the notion that there will never be true peace, his ambitious eyes set on victory.

@White Feather

I'd say someone with truly evil intent in their heart.

The key word here is "intent". If someone has something evil in mind and wishes to do soon, the amulet will shake. It doesn't matter if he himself thinks of it of evil or not (doing the evil thing for good reasons still counts as evil, and doing evil even when forced counts). As long as he intends to do something evil, it'll shake no matter his personal beliefs since they wouldn't stop him from doing evil.

@Alarieth
I actually really like this King; he's a huge improvement from the last one lolz.

Awesome!
@Alarieth

Truly a hardy foe! One question: how evil is obviously evil? Are we talking 'steals for the fun of it' evil or ' addicted to whorehouses and decadence' evil or only really 'rapes child slaves on a regular basis' evil?

God, what a horrible analogy...

I'd say someone with truly evil intent in their heart. Now, I know that sounds pretty vague so allow me to elaborate. It'd be someone who is well aware that whatever he or she is doing is truly evil. However, petty sins wouldn't be counted, otherwise the damned thing would never stop vibrating. At any rate, it would detect the first and third one of your examples.
What about Dreamworks worlds? Like Kung-fu Panda?
Here we go! Hope he's appropriate and not too powerful (even though he is the king). I might make another/more character(s) later.

I'll take the role of king, I'll have a character up later today!
Name: Azakiel Gawoth.

Age: 28.

Race: Human.

Appearance:

Description: Azakiel has always been a fair man, handsome of face and features, tall, athletic and charming to boot. Many might even consider him to be close to the idea of what a human noble ought to look like. His skin is paler than common, indicating his nobility, having spent less time out in the field and in the sun than common folk. His chestnut brown hair is straight and well tended, reaching down his shoulders in the form of a slight wave.

His eyes have a cunning edge to them, while at the same time being observant and vigilant, trying ever their best not to miss any details. The rest of his facial features are somewhat sharp, with pronounced cheekbones said to be the mark of his family. With rigid discipline, he maintains a clean-shaven appearance, as much else of his appearance always remains well groomed and taken care of even in the most dire of situations.

Clad in some of the finest/fanciest armor money can buy Azakiel is a sight to behold on his equally as fancily outfitted horse. His gilded armor however seems to have left significant room for mobility, considering he prefers lightning fast attacks on the field of battle, utilizing his cavalry where they are strongest. His helmet is decorated with a large plume of red feathers which could almost only be described as pompous, his presence upon the field of battle obvious.

Bio: The Gawoth family has always been a prominent one in Alsinu, bearing its ancestral home in Almasa itself. As such, they have often been advisers and seconds in command to the king himself, the recent High King was no different. There have often been whispers of Gawoth's jealousy towards the land's rulers, discontent with only being the second most powerful individuals in the land. Such whispers are only to be expected from ignorant peasants however, as the idea that it were they who were responsible for the death of he last High King has also been uttered. Rumors with no foundations.

As one of the most principal and oldest families, it's no surprise that the Gawoth family has earned its richest on the backs of many non-human slaves and laborers, as well as having its hand in some of the most important trade monopolies feeding the economy.

Azakiel was born as first and only son to the late Lord Uriel. From a young age, he has always been groomed to be the lord he was meant to be, showing promise for commanding and tactics. However, it son became clear that while the military and diplomatic lessons proved to be of little difficulty for the young lord, economics and trade were above is grasp. Indeed, once he came of age, he already started to spend more money than was proper. Over the years, his loose antics with coin have not improved. Up until today, his family had riches to spare. So far, he has not yet been proven wrong. As promising as he was however, several less desirable personality traits soon developed. Arrogance, vanity, self-righteousness, depravity and disregard for life being only a few of them.

Being so high ranked in politics, it wasn't unsurprising that Azakiel was quickly given a prominent position in the army, commanding men efficiently as he proved to have a talent for such. He has been involved in several minor conflicts along the borders, his methods often however proving to be ruthless and brutal.

Only a few years prior to the High King's demise, Azakiel rose to his position of head of his family, managing to further his interests in court and out in he field. Now, with the seat of the High King open, he feels that this is the right moment for him to step up and claim it for his own. With no true legitimate claim however, there was no telling how much support he needed to pull this off. To this end, Azakiel has left the capital, willing to form alliances with the orcs, elves or even the barbaric humans in order to help him claim the throne in exchange for concessions.

Role: Current head of the Gawoth noble family, commander, adviser, contender for the throne of High King.

Skills: Azakiel is a skilled warrior, years of training with some of the finest tutors in the capital certainly proved their worth. He has been able to apply his skills in battle directly, not simply a backseat commander, he fancies being in the midst of the fighting, enabling him to inspire his troops close by and issue orders directly.

He is no stranger to politics, having stood close to the High King himself, he knows how to manipulate people, form alliances and pacts. His charm can often succeed where his ruthless tactics in the field can not.

Weapons: Lance, spear, shield, sword, (armored horse if that counts).
@SiliconColt One question though, is anyone supposed to have a keyblade or something?
