Premise

The story starts from the premise that Kayaba Akihiko was obsessed with magic and Norse Mythology rather than swords and pure melee. As a result, he created the Death Game of Alfheim Online rather than the floating castle of Aincrad—a world in which player-killing is not a crime, and the nine player races are in competition with each other to reach the top of the World Tree. This is an alternate universe which may or may not follow canon rules from either SAO or the original Alfheim Online. Key differences from typical SAO roleplays would be the removal of levels, inclusion of magic, races and double the inital playerbase (20,000 players). Similar to SAO, the goal is to aim for the top. Only by completing the Grand Quest can players unlock limitless flight; the sole way to reach the top of Yggdrasil and escape back into the real world.

Information

Obviously this doesn't encapsulate every single thing about the world but it contains most of the key points. Feel free to ask me anything you have doubts about. I also greatly encourage people to contribute with worldbuilding in any way whatsoever.

Character Template

Appearance: Picture (anime only) and/or description.
Height: In centimeters.
Weight: In kilograms.
RLN: Real life name.
IGN: In game name.
Age: Your character's real age.
Race: What race did you select?
History: What to to put here is up to you but keep it brief.
Personality: You can use personality traits and/or give a description.
Character Build: Describe your playstyle and key masteries. You don't have to specify exact values as long as they're feasible. Kirito took 2+ years as a frontliner and most of his skills were only around 90% mastery. We are only one month into the game.
Other: Whatever doesn't fit above goes here.

Rules

  • Acceptable grammar.
  • Quality over quantity.
  • Respect other players (but don't be afraid to kill them).
  • No godmodding/powerplaying.
  • No metagaming.
  • No speedposting. Especially when you're in a group. Don't leave people out.
  • Please don't just vanish. If you want to go on hiatus, I will allow it so you can return at a later time.
  • Post character in OOC and await approval before creating it in the character bucket.
  • Be considerate and realistic in battle posts. E.g. no autohits, no asspulls and no ignoring relevant battle posts.
So we've got 5 including me, we just need a little bit more before we can get started.
@Damiann47@Izaka Sazaka I'll shoot for the moon with this.
I'll give several less mainstream but good quality anime. They will unlikely fulfil the male fantasies 14 year olds and possess little ecchi.

Arslan Senki has good pacing, animation and interesting characters. The main character might start off frustrating to watch but his development is handled wonderfully AND realistically. You can really see him grow.

Mushishi has been hailed as a masterpiece even though it never achieved mainstream success. It has a relaxing and episodic nature. It won't give you crazy hype or make you thirst for the next episode but it's the kind of show that you watch and just go "that was really good..."

Ping Pong totally put me off with it's art style at first. I would have never given it a chance if not for the amazing reviews it got. Give it a shot, you'll ignore the unique or what some people consider to be ugly art in no time. God damn is it amazing.

In short, it's an AU which we'll be roleplaying in. Key differences from typical SAO roleplays would be the inclusion of magic, races and double the playerbase. Instead of striving for the top of Aincrad, we'll be competing to become the first race to unlock unlimited flight and escape via the top of Yggdrasil.

What To Expect

As to what we'll actually be doing in the RP, it is completely up to you guys; we could adventure the world or dabble in politics, be peacemakers or pkers. I greatly encourage creating multiple characters especially those taking important roles such as a race leader. If this ever takes off, we'll begin two months into the game so we can skip the pointless level 1 introductions of all SAO roleplays >_>".

It will be story-driven so theres no need for exact stats and etc. It is more than enough to describe character level and the build you're based around; e.g. a healing based undine or a tanky spear wielding gnome.

There will be no cap on the amount of people joining this because the setting will allow it. Not everyone has to group together, people can divide themselves up into interrelated but separate adventures. Do not fret though, I will regulate against speedposters and I will control the characters of deserters so they can fade away without impeding the plot.

Credits

Based off the fanfiction of the same name.
Sometimes because some people have really interesting characters or ideas. However, it's hard to keep it up for long because it usually turns boring lol. It's the type of thing that isn't as much fun to watch as to actually participate in.
I'll get mine up 2moroz.

Just finished exam period.
Well, I'm interested if there is room. What classes have been taken?

Edit: There you are @Animus!!! Lion is going to eat you soon!!! XD

*cough*
I vote for dice rolls.

With values depending on the circumstances. E.g. if Archer takes a pot shot from a super far distance then it's a 10% chance hitting sort of thing and you roll that.

Because even if you moderate it but don't use a rolling system, it means people will refuse to get hit unless it's very decisive or convincing. Any strategic low success rate low reward kind of move will never work.
I believe the reason noone has showed interest is because of the misspelled title. Tragedy.
