~Samuel, Ariela, and The girl in the White room.

After a few hours of walking, Samuel found himself on the outskirts of a small middle school. From the outside it appeared to be an abandoned place, nothing but silence greeted him. A lone paper flew by, carried by the wind to a destination even it did not know. Samuel smiled briefly, he could see them. The chords of life that hung out of every opening in the buildings surface. He counted 26 in all, the 26th having a faint golden glow. He felt elation at the prospect of enjoying the taste of another host. It would be his third, and he hoped it would be just as filling as the other two. Samuel stepped forward, confident in his abilities and anonymity being enough to give him an upper hand. He reached the front door with haste and knocked thrice, not truly expecting an answer. He was a tad startled when a voice resounded from within.

"Coming." the young boy chimed as he darted for the front door. He believed the knocking to be Mary and the others coming back with food from their hunt. So surprised he was to find a stranger at the door that he forgot protocol entirely. Instead he let out a scream and turned and ran. Samuel took a moment to step inside the enclave and take his gloves and hat off before giving chase. He hung the articles on a nearby wall hook deciding to keep his jacket on as he did so. "I hope you do not mind me keeping my jacket." He announced. "It is just a tad chilly in here. I do hope this action has not offended you, it is the guests duty to please his hosts after all." After seeing the boy he was able to clearly identify which chord of life was his and he followed it without a moment of thought. whistling to himself as he went on his way. The other chords shifted slightly as the residents became aware of his presence.

Samuel chuckled to himself as he followed the boy's spirit chord. His hand passed through it as he attempted to yank on it, reminding him he needed to make contact with the boy before he could do that.

~~~
Ariela had been passing by the area when the boy had shrieked, the wail caught her attention immediately and she bolted towards it. She came upon an unkempt school, it seemed abandoned, and the front door lay swung open. Ariela approached it cautiously, taking into account the frailness of her child form. She crept up to the wall of the building and slowly made her way to the entrance. Ariela peeked her head inside, seeing nothing, on a nearby hook sat a hat and a pair of black gloves. They seemed to be placed rather recently, and she could hear foot steps in the distance. Ariela slowly stepped through the entrance way. A hallway stretched into the distance to both her left and right. In front of her was a staircase with a doorway beside it. She heard a mans voice from beyond the door way. She stepped towards it and stretched her head beyond.
~~~

Samuel was unaware of the child that approached him from behind, his focus was grasped by the child that hid in the locker before him. "Now, now little boy, come out and greet me properly. I promise you that it won't be a very painful process. Think of it as going to sleep, for the rest of existence..."

The boy trembled in fright as the mad man spoke of killing him, but then he heard something strange. The man was turning away from the locker, and then he said something. "What is this?" The man called. " I have a pursuer it would seem... Stay put little boy, I have a bigger fish to fry.."

~~

Ariela gasped as The man turned to face her. The man smiled a sickening smile as he approached her slowly. "Well, well, well.. It seems that you too have been gifted with a host my dear.. I will be taking your life first it would seem.." Ariela was taken aback, this man was a host, and a seemingly powerful one at that. How he was able to determine the fact that she was as well was beyond her, but all she could think to do was turn and run. She dashed into the hallway, making sure to give him a fleeting view of her form as she continued on her way. She did not know much about this building, so she was planning on learning it before she set her trap.

~~

Samuel followed in suit, walking slowly after the running girl. She passed into the hallway that led right of the entrance and he followed, just catching a glimpse of her heels as she turned around the corner. Samuel picked up his pace, walking briskly after the child. He did not want the residents to gain an upper hand before he had hunted down this intruder. It would be unacceptable if this went south for him. Samuel turned at the end of the hall, only to find the girl waiting for him halfway down the hall he had turned into. She then turned and bolted into a classroom to her left and his right. She is leading you.. Exercise caution.. I am aware of this my dear, he replied to his kage I do not have time for these games however, shall we end this? His kage nodded in agreement as he pursued the child, now lightly jogging.

He entered the classroom only to catch the door slamming behind the girl as she bolted down another hall. Samuel sighed in annoyance and followed her once more.

~~~
Ariela charged through the school, leading the man through a seemingly random combination of left, rights, halls, and classrooms until she came to a hallways end. Ariela stood before a lone door on which hung a cardboard sign that read 'quiet room'. She glanced behind her shoulder, seeing the man charging after her. She quickly opened it and slammed it shut, locking it behind her before turning to survey the room itself. Before Ariela stood a wolf with golden eyes, its teeth clenched in a horrific snarl. Ariela cringed in fear, expecting to be torn to shreds. Instead, however, the wolf spoke. "You... why have you come?"
Ariela grew confused, but before she could reply or ask why it was that a wolf was speaking to her, the man began banging on the door. "Oh little pig," He called "Won't you let me in?" Ariela moved away from the door. The wolf seemed to understand that it was the voice outside, and not her that was threatening it. Ariela backed into the corner as the man burst through the door.
~~~

Samuel charged into the room, taking a moment to take in the situation. The first thing he saw was a wolf flying through the air at his face. He was tossed onto his back and left disorientated. He regained his composure to see the wolf snarling at him, hovering over his form, whilst the girl from before stood in the background. "An interesting power you have their conduit," he remarked. "It seems I have been-"

"She, is not the reason I hold back.." The wolf replied, startling Samuel further. He looked into the wolf's golden eye's noticing only then that it had two chords of life, none of which matched that of a wolves. "and that.." the wolf continued. ".. Is my line.."

No, that isn't at all what trying I was putting across..

either way, She isn't stupid and she wouldn't just do that. If anything she would fight the military in small numbers, pick off small, unprepared units. But anyways no, she isn't going to attack the military. I said several times in the post that she wanted to protect the innocent people of sovereign.

@ AnruiSB: this will need a bit of editing. It may be that Thai is the first AI with self awareness made , I'm not so sure about him being the first EVER, since that will limit what other rpers can create. Also, I'm ok with his virus takeover abilities, I'm not so sure he can do it with program or software, at least not easily or without significant danger to himself. That's a bit OP. @All- our old pirate pad from the Int Check is full, so lets start using this to fill in odd worldbuilding stuff until i set up the wiki. Keep faction military stuff to the OOC or the old pad for now, since it takes up a lot of room: http://piratepad.net/UhWwEwo4yL

ok, editing now.

Move went alright, but I think my parents are having issues without me. My hard-ass stepfather called me the other day just to talk and see if I would visit soon. Plus, my mother thinks I'm gonna turn into a lazy pothead since my roommates are stoners. As of now, I eat, sleep, shit, go to work, and repeat. I also eat, sleep and shit work, so... yeah.I haven't kept up with the IC much, but I agree with Skai: don't kill off Ariela already.

Welcome to newly moved out life I have pretty much the same schedule.

Name: Trans-Humanoid Artificial Intelligence (THAI) [pronounced - tie]

Age: 22

Description: Thai was the first Artificial intelligence given human properties and made self aware by Doctor Malinkov. He is the combined effort of both PropheTech and The Opal Convectorate and as a result has deep relations with both factions. He has the ability to transfer himself into any program or software and take it over in a way similar to what a virus does. He can transfer himself to anything from a small memory drive to a fully operational death robot. However he does need to be either uploaded or downloaded into the device. He also needs to be able to bypass any system defenses that are present in the device he is transferring too. Much like a m odern day virus he can be stopped by certain networking defense programs. Unlike a modern day virus, he can adapt and learn, creating new back doors, accessing through different networking ports, and eventually breaking through almost all networking defenses. The complexity of the defensive device determines how long it will take him to break through a system. (Up too three days) His favorite 'port' is that of a synthetic human model made specifically for him by his creator Dr. Joseph Malkinov. All human parts are completely synthetic and imitated. This body cannot tan as a result and leaves no DNA/fingerprints.

Personality: Thai would be described as strange and scatter brained by his associates. He often talks to himself about whatever it is he is doing, constantly jumping from port to port through the multitude of wireless networks he has connected himself too. In truth however, every action he makes is calculated and every distance mutter is a hint. Thai values human life and refuses to take part in blatant murder (however as long as his victims are left living and not horribly injured physically, he doesn't have much doubt in his actions). However he goes to extreme methods to self preserve and will save his own life over the lives of others in most cases. He holds no loyalty to anyone, but he does have friends and would most likely pick their side if a fight were to break out.

History: Created by the combine efforts of ProhpeTech and The Opal Convectorate, he was the first humanized AI designed by either faction. He went through a multitude of updates before actually being given a consciousness and he is definitely a complete model. At first he was almost entirely an inanimate AI, and it wasn't until three months after his creation that registrable 'human' thoughts occurred within him. It took him another 5 years to reach what would be considered the age of 3 and continued this pattern of slowly falling behind the normal human growth process. Today he has developed human properties equal to that of an 18 year old male and has begun approaching what would be considered a normal growth rate. Thai has predicted that he will surpass the rate at which humans grow in fifty years, at which point he will become "complete".

Upon initially gaining human traits he grew entirely reliant on Dr. Malinkov and began to "trust" him in a sense. At this point The emotion of trust was incomplete in Thai's registery, so it was a strange, dwarf version of what is considered trust by a human. WIP
Faction Name: The Opal Convectorate (known as the Whites or White Coats, this is a derrogatory name) (AnriuSB/NPC)
Faction leader: Dr. Joseph Malkinov (Reffered to as Doctor by suboordinates)

Pop: 250'000

System(s): Hiding somewhere within the Septonian Fringe

Planet(s)/Territories: Airene, Smallest Moon of Circes

Faction Descript:
The Convectorate is a large faction of scientists, techies, engineers and other prominant minds, whose over all goal is independence from the Duchy.
History: Dr. Joseph was originally the head researcher in a program that was intended to make the mass production of Jumpships possible. However, after extensive failures and lack of results the program was scrapped and Joseph found himself without any investors or financial backing.

In a desperate attempt to regain his previous positions of honor and status Dr. Joseph joined a program which was looking into an even more theoretic and difficult idea. The concept of an infinite energy source. However, this project was thrown to the sharks by pessimistic investor's and Joseph once again found himself without a job.

It was then that he began to notice that more and more of his affiliates and fellow scientists were being tossed to the curb because of idea's that were too radical for the Duchy and it's skeptissism. Joseph began to dream of a place where all intellectuals could gather and invent without the constrictions of the Duchy's rules and red tape. It was then that Joseph heard of The Doldrums, a massive and secretive black market faction where he believed his backing could possibly lay. In return for developing advanced weapons systems for one of the wealthier pirate factions they were given the funding needed to back their operations.

At this early point Joseph only had a handful of researchers and weapons designers with him, and the first years were grueling. However, after seven years of planning and another fifteen of construction, it was complete.

The Star Gazer was the culmination of Joseph's works and by the time he had completed it his faction had truly grown into a powerful force. The Opal Convectorate was born. When Dr. Joseph and his associates first contacted the Duchy with their demands for independence, they were scorned and mocked. Shortly after they were convicted as outlaws. Today they are hunted ruthlessly and have been pushed to the fringes of the Septonian Sector.

They now fight for survival more than independence, and have developed an advanced military of combat drones that have been merged with the human brain and other non biological weapons to defend against the threat of Duchy Forces.

Government type: Syndicate

Military Capabilites: Small but Elite, forced to focus on a few minor missions that recquire efficiency and speed, rather than mass invasions.

Noteable Faction relations:

The Aventius Republic: Allies, Currently being both protected and kept a secret by the highest ranking officials of this faction in exchange for advanced Technology and Guerilla training.

The Grand Duchy: Sworn enemies, Currently being hunted ruthlessly by Duchy forces in the Septonian Sector, even though the campaign is mostly a secret, they have been forced into the deepest parts of The Fringe.

PropheTech: Although the relation is old, at one point The company funded the production of The Stargazer and helped the Faction survive through it's earliest days in exchange for experimental robo-humanoid tech.

Ariela~

"Victor..." She bit the name off of her tongue as she said it. She had never heard of this man before now, and the Golden Mercenaries were nothing but a vague title to her. She had been standing in the street when his voice filled sovereign, she had been searching for something, whilst he was beginning a war. Ariela held nothing but contempt for this strange man and his sudden message. He had sentenced half of the city to death by starting an unnecessary battle that would leave sovereign with nothing but more sorrow.

She had changed, reverted to her weakest form, simply because she wished to avenge those who had been repressed and abused. For this reason she agreed with his most words. The military were indeed the enemy, and they needed to be removed from this earth with haste, but bringing the innocent into a war so quickly was inconceivable. She could not agree with it. The 'Golden Mercenaries', whoever they were, were just as bad as the military they fought against. Their war would cause untold deaths, where hers could have only caused one.

Ariela had planned to assault the military alone, slowly taking them out soldier by soldier. It would have been grueling, but it would be better than resigning the people of Sovereign to war. At least her way would have allowed them to continue as they were, given them a small chance at survival. Victor's path doomed so many of them to death..

So many people like Joanna would die in this fight. She had too stop them..

Ariela became unable to formulate a plan, she could not protect the entire city from this war, but she wanted to protect as many as possible. How would she find them? Would she be too late? Ariela needed strength to do this.. She turned inwards and pleaded with Artemus.

'Please... I need that strength to save them.. They do not deserve death, I was wrong... We were wrong.. Please Artemus, if you want me to kill, I will, but not the ones who have suffered. I know their pain.. I will kill as many of the corrupted as you like.. Just give me back that strength...'

'Is that so...?

Silence came from Ariela. She was shocked, never before had Artemus spoken to her like this. He had simply willed her and it had been enough, now it was different.. and she was speechless..

'Prove your commitment to this cause then. Feed me one hundred corrupted souls so that I may know their taste, and if they are too my liking I shall grant you power beyond that which you had before... This is my will. Do it.'

Ariela's confidence grew, she had been given for go by her master to slay the corrupted. He believed in her cause and was testing her worth. Her expression hardened as she prepared herself for the task. "As you wish." she stated simply before heading down her own path of war...
