Yeah, this is a broad area, but I think my ideas take element from both 'genres' of games. I want to try my hand at being a Storyteller, so I will only be controlling NPCs and altering the timeline with plot hooks and twists. As such, I'll be more alike to a referee and a cheerleader than a player. Do know that, while I expect good grammar, spelling and word count, I will be giving you near free reign over the plot to do as you please, so please don't deliberately try to make my self imposed job a nightmare, okay?
Now, my idea is such: Our tale would start on a small island of the coast of the Farunthel Empire, the island a friendly yet neutral territory where orphans of all origins grow safely and peacefully to adulthood. This island is called Adelon, and the orphanage that takes most of its lands is thus called the Adelon Orphanage. For one reason or another you are a young adult that is about to leave Adelon behind to make their fortune and/or fame in the Farunthel Empire, and you and your fellow young adults are about to take the ferry to the port city of Glavide, the entryway into the vast empire. This is where your tale will start, as you will be given the task to find a way to enroll yourself into the first Guild of the Empire and thus start your formal education. That Guild, commonly called the Novice Guild, is the first step toward being recognized in the empire, and the only way to legally learn any skill worth having. Once accepted you will have to strive to make your way into the second guild, the Apprentice guild, and later into the other guilds as you become more skilled and independent. How you do so is up to you, but know that land owning and rights are to be earned in the Empire, and that until you are at least a Novice you will be lower than dirt in the eyes of most Farunthians.
You will have an inventory, a set of skill slots, and even coins and real estate during your journey, but know that I will try to make it so that this is more like a story than a hoarding fest. I hope we will have fun with this, and would be happy to answer all questions you may have.
PS: The following will be the available races: Faundrims (animalistic humanoids of various shapes), Humans, Spirits (Elves, Fairies and Nymphs/Dryads) and finally Halflings (think something between dwarfs and hobbits).
