Hello, my name is Ren. It's a pleasure. I've been writing for about 15 years and I've built at least a handful of large worlds that one day I hope to turn them into a book. I like watching anime and reading manga & comics; just a casual otaku and gamer. Reading books are also a passion of mine and I take enjoyment in watching movies and tv shows. I can be very picky when it comes to genre; especially crime worlds. As I stated in the introduction on a forum, I was wanting to find a new place. I found RPG and I want to give it a shot. Now, I have many characters but I'm just going to settle as my elf ranger; Elris.
Elris is an elf without much knowledge of his heritage. He was found lost in the forest at a very young age, and raised lovingly by two human rangers. They taught him a variety of skills -- from farm-handling to self-defense -- and made sure he at least received a modest education. At eighteen, armed with his beloved bow and a desire to make his parents proud, he ventured off alone into the woods. There, after a week's worth of wandering, he stumbled upon a camp of poachers. Littered about were cages upon cages of animals, many of them already dead from starvation. Violently moved by the sight, Elris freed the remaining animals as the poachers slept. Some escaped deep into the forest and others attacked their aggressors full force.
Startled by the violence, Elris rushed home, but the scent of bloodshed caught the attention of another creature, which tracked the elf all the way back to his village. It waited until dusk before striking, half the village nearly raized to the ground by the massive displacer beast. It killed and devoured many of the villagers and outmatched all of the seasoned warriors, including both of Elris's parents. And though Elris, feeling responsible for the tragedy, tried to face the beast himself, he too was overcome.
In the moments before his death came, however, a monstrous flash of canine fangs, fur, and claws tackled the displacer beast and grappled with it long enough to allow Elris to gather himself and retrieve his bow. He let loose a single arrow, which dealt a crippling wound to the displacer beast, and allowed the dire wolf to finish it off. For a moment before the dire wolf vanished into the woods, Elris perceived an intelligence in it; a debt had been repaid.
In the aftermath of the attack, Elris helped the remaining villagers bury their dead. Stricken with grief at the loss of his parents, he sold their farm and bought land deep in the forest, where he lives alone as a woodcarver. There, he nurtures his love of animals, his desire to glimpse the dire wolf that saved his life, and a deep-rooted guilt that stunts his ability to get close to others.
