Joey granted Angela permission to pet the dog, which Angela eagerly turned her attention to. She reached out her right hand to let the dog sniff it, then scratched gently under its neck and ran her hand down the side of its body. She listened for the owner's approval or disapproval, but heard none and figured Joey had his attention back on the other girl. Distracted by the dog's wagging tail, she hardly wondered if this could be a werecreature, assuming it was just a pet. "Hi, dog! What's your name? You seem to be a smart fellow."

James messed around on his guitar, lost in his own thoughts, for what seemed like a few minutes but was actually an hour. Joanna still wasn't home. He looked at the wall clock and saw that it wasn't even evening yet. He could go to his room to work on some projects, but he was pretty inspired from the encounter with the boy. Maybe he would head over to the stifled sunlight of the forest and write some music. He put his guitar back in its case and went back out the door. On the way to the forest, he saw a redheaded girl and a blonde boy approaching. The girl was eyeing him as if she wanted to tell him something.
@MrDidact I edited the biography in my original post to include the origin of her powers, as well as where she got her cloak.

Angela stepped out of the forest and stretched her arms out in the unobstructed sunlight. She walked eagerly towards the tall buildings of the city. As she walked into the city, she saw a girl talking to dog with a boy next to it. The girl was leaning towards the dog, who watching her as if it understood what she was saying. Angela was excited; she wanted to try communicating with the dog! She approached, interrupting the girl. "Hi! I'm Angela. I noticed you have a dog there. Can I pet it?"

James walked around edge of the city back home, not wanting to be around people. He thought about the boy in the red shirt, wondering what those empty blue eyes had seen, what could have sucked the life out of them. He turned down the outermost street of the city, the one nearest to the forest, and walked down the block to his house. Absent-minded, he walked up the porch steps and into the house. It was empty; Joanna was still at work. He took off his shoes in silence. There was still a lot of day left to kill. He went to the living room and plopped himself down on the maroon couch, the day still too bright to turn on the lights. He took out his guitar and briefly warmed up with a deceptive cadence. Blue eyes. He began plucking in a four-chord minor progression, playing only two notes in each chord to create a feeble and simple, yet harmonic sound.

As Rayne was asking the boy a question, Dawn walked a little further ahead, just out of the peripheral vision of the boy. She acted before the boy had a chance to answer. With one quick swipe, she slid the knife out from her belt and cut both backpack straps just on top of where they were attacked to the pack. With her other hand, she pulled the backpack off the boy's back. Putting the knife away so she could carry the bag with both hands, she took off and turned into a narrow alley, not caring if Rayne was following her or not.
@mskennedy615 I was thinking of having my character steal your backpack, since she's good at stealing things. Would that be okay with you? Feel free to say no, especially if there's something in there you need.

Dawn and Rayne didn't get much further down the road before being called at by two men. "Aye! punk-ass and bitch!" They asked if James Hunter was around. Dawn answered, "Not that I know of." Before Dawn could say any more, the voice of James Hunter boomed from behind them, "Please, put down your weapons, or you might get hurt." Dawn didn't look back. She dragged Rayne into a back alley and broke out into a run, hoping no one would come after them. They sprinted for a couple of blocks, twisting and turning one street to the right, before finally stopping to catch their breath. Dawn watched the path intently as she said to Rayne, "I think we've gotten away."

@mskennedy615

She was unusually tired, both from escaping a dangerous situation and from having an empty stomach. She started walking forward with the intention of finding food, listening for whether Rayne was following her, and saw a boy about Rayne's age approaching. The boy took a hammer out of his backpack. The backpack interested Dawn. Who knew what could be inside. Maybe food. Maybe a helpful tool. As they got closer, Dawn planned how she would steal the backpack without the boy noticing. Perhaps she would cut the straps. Then, hopefully she could snatch the pack and run away before the boy could react.
@Letmehaveone2

James knew the emptiness of eyes that had seen something terrible, eyes that had lost someone close, eyes under the influence of drugs... but here he was, staring into eyes that were atypically empty. "Alexander. I'm James. I don't know what you've been through, but you're still alive, you can still make things better. You can't make things better once you're dead." With that, he turned around and walked away, guitar case swaying as if to wave goodbye.
@Claw2k11 Probably 5 or more active people would be enough to get this going, although more is always better.
