It's happening again. I have been visited by a soviet mad scientist, a king, a penguin prince of darkness, a house plant god thing, a mystical ancient member, a tired reaper (thank god) + a greeting.

I'll see how the idea progresses. I may join, might not.

The fundamental concept is based on Total War, which is based on the idea that history starts off normal, and the player (players in hotseat) make their own histories from there.

Historical setting without a root in historical accuracy beyond the first few bits, in other words. Good for people who like to play with history, horrible for history nerds.
Ok, Ok, I'll do it... bah...

Oh and for ^: Only thing I see is that it will be rather exclusive when regarding the losers - while I personally don't care if I'm even the first one to lose, some would, given the elimination theory, be more willing to play with the borders of in-context realism and metagaming so they aren't eliminated.

You know how Sauron is the most powerful sorcerer and enemy of his setting? Well, this is Aldarin. Aldarin is the Dark Lord of this setting.

Different premises. LOTR has elves, dwarves, ents, Balrogs, hobbits, mordor, wizards, gods and various other bits - GOT, by comparison, has rare (and at this point just a few) dragons, humans as the dominantly most common species (wildlings and humans, the main divergence - wildlings still being humans), and a force of undead that aren't as of yet that well explained.

You can do as you will, and I'd be a bad person to dissuade divergence in some part from canons, but the main thing here is that I just don't see high-fantasy godly characters fitting in this universe a fraction as effectively as LOTR, a universe built around high fantasy (built high fantasy in the first place?).
Ya know, even given the poor historical value of the faction, I think I'll pull a gig with the Norwegians/vikings.
I'm sure Mahz would be happy to implement this new concept.

Tell me, what does it entail?
Just after the cat stepped out a three headed imp with a squealing high pitched noise - were those words coming out of the heads?
Banned for expecting people to take your side.
Oh... sure :)
I mostly have experience in fantasy RP. I only have experience with tabletop RPG. I've never played Play by post. I'm looking for a RP game where I can create a really cool character with an established background, in an established world. Bonus points if he has a skill set that allows him to interact with said world, but it's not necessary. I'm open to realism or sci fi as opposed to fantasy. Really I'm just looking for an adventure I can come back and post to as frequently as possible. My usual weekly group is effectively disbanded since my DM got called in for Jury Duty.

PbP generally isn't hard to get into, so long as you've read one of the introduction guides.

Feel free to throw a PM if you're interested in a fantasy context featuring demons, magic shit and weird gents.
