Salutations, Folks!
My name is Benjamin, but that's pretty boring, right? Ended up deciding on Arhestoval as my screen name.
Been doing the roleplaying gig for over 30 years, since I was a boy, my neighbor had an older brother who helped me roll my first character and I was hooked ever since - imagination is fun<3
Videogames were probably my primary source of RP until I was able to afford my own books, but my parents were super-religious, and I had to hide them around my room - they thought Dungeons & Dragons was the Devil - and Magic Cards, and Rock Music . . and everything else that's fun basically.
My favorite genre of RP would probably have to be Fantasy, classic Sword & Sorcery, the more Grim Dark the better. I like it when "beating the game" is just your character surviving the day. But I've done RP forums before for SCI-FI-based adventures like with Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, back when that was still popular. Our guild, The Mantell Syndicate, would do RP missions on forums and then use monsters in-game to blend the two mediums when were playing the MMO.
As far as group size goes, the more players you have slows the progression of the story, so I prefer smaller groups, but wouldn't shy away from a larger one. I think it would be cool to have a large group, like the Fellowship of the Ring for example, and have them break off in order to fulfill an overarching goal - it's just more work...
I'm a huge fan of stories and lore. I suppose larger campaigns would be my preference, but any kind of interaction can be fulfilling for a person so long as you're having fun, right?
As far as my personal life goes, I've been a writer at heart ever since I was a boy, but joined the infantry right after 9-11. Went to Iraq a few times, kicking open doors and clearinghouses, and caught a Purple Heart. Because of that experience, coupled with my boyhood desire to write, I would say I style myself a Warrior-Poet. Retired in 2006, I spent a lot of time studying history trying to figure out what's actually going on in the world; which prompted me to join the freemasons in 2013, got my 32°, and was even published in a national magazine.
Nowadays I street dance for fun, focus on nutrition, play Lord of the Rings Online, and try to dodge the culturally subversive ideas that are permeating our TV, Film, and Music industries.
Cheers~
