Hello! I'm a 20 year old professional ballerina and aspiring writer. I will be attending college next fall, for a musical theatre degree, and I want to explore myself as a writer while I still have a lot of free time to write. I have been RPing since I was 13, when I started with a Harry Potter story, and I've been writing fanfiction and original work since not long after that. I consider myself to be a high casual/advanced RPer... once I start writing, it's hard for me to stop! I had an account on here many eons ago, but I lost it and decided to start anew. My fandoms include HP, Supernatural, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Firefly, Merlin, Chronicles of Narnia, LOTR, SAO, Fruits Basket, Ouran High School Host Club, Pokemon, Marvel, DC, and countless others. I also am highly interested in anything that involves medieval time periods, magical creatures and fairies, or time travel.
Tethys felt her skin growing hot as he took the chance to whisper close into her ear. A surge of tense excitement waved through her stomach, and her throat felt dry. The sensations eased as he moved away, but they were still there, in lesser intensity.
He sat upon a throne of intertwined roots that rose up to receive him comfortably, and finally introduced himself as Vale, a Faerie of the Summer Court. Tethys was too distracted to pay much attention to the way he pronounced his name.
Vale leaned upon his hand and closed the doorway, waving for her to go, as though he himself had grown weary. He assured her that he would still be able to advise her when they were separate from this world.
Tethys felt the dreamworld slowly begin to dissolve around her, and she awoke in her own bed, heart beating quickly. She saw the first rays of sunlight beginning to stream through the windows. Had all of that really just happened?
She touched the amulet she was still wearing, just to be sure. It glowed faintly, and Vale’s words echoed through her head. I will still be with you during your awakening...
Lyn watched their exchange. Although she was keeping a constant watchful eye on the window beside their table, she also analyzed the people dining in the mildly busy inn. Lyn wasn’t sure if she felt uncomfortable because of the charming smile Aidan had given to the pretty waitress, or because she referred to Lyn as Aidan’s ‘lady’. Or perhaps the chair she was sitting in just had poor back support. Yes, that must be it.
“Vegetable stew, a plain hunk of bread, and a half pint of ale,” she requested, glancing at Aidan. He seemed much more at ease than she did, even though he was the one who was concealing his true identity. Lyn waited until the maid walked away to retrieve their orders before she spoke again.
“Salmon and red wine, then. Is that your usual fare?” she asked. “I don’t believe I’ve ever so much as tasted salmon before. I suppose I’m used to preparing meals for myself; the sort that can keep you going through a long day.”
Lyn was oblivious to Aidan’s intended pass because she was startled to see that his eyes and hair had changed color. She’d assumed he would have simply dressed in dark clothing with a hooded cloak, but of course it made more sense to use a simple spell to avoid recognition. Lyn blinked, realizing that he actually did have quite a well-shaped face. And had he just called her a "lovely woman"? Perhaps the heat that collected through the roof in the back of the cart while traveling was affecting his head.
Instead of accepting his proffered arm, she clasped her arms behind her back; a militant stance that had been drilled into her during her years in training. “Er. If you’re ready, Erik, then I suppose we should indeed enter the inn. We’ll want to finish this meal quickly if we intend to reach the next village before nightfall.”
She finished securing the exterior of the wagon and walked past Aidan, holding the door open for him. Lyn had left her shield stowed away, but still had her sword strapped to her hip.
“Of course,” Lyn replied. She was mildly gratified by Prince Aidan’s improved manner of speaking to her, but that didn’t mean that she liked him as a person quite yet.
They arrived in the village, which was moving at a steady afternoon bustle. No one seemed too concerned with the arrival of a shabby cart driven by a woman. Lyn secured a space to tether the horse with a small payment to the hostler outside the nearest inn, and then returned to the wagon.
“We’ve arrived, Erik,” she called into the wagon. Once he emerged, she would lock up the wagon’s contents, tether it with the horse, and take a seat inside that was facing the window, so she could keep an eye on their belongings while they dined. This seemed like a relatively mild-mannered village, but one could never be too careful.
“Erik?” she asked, wondering what was taking him so long to disembark.
Welcome! If you want some reading material, I'll send you links to some of the RPS I'm involved with. I'm doing quite a few, so I might not be able to start up a whole new one; but if I get more time freed in the future, I'll definitely let you know. It's always fun to RP with new friends x)
Edit: And I may actually be open to a DC RP, since I haven't gotten into one of those in a long time.
Lyn gazed out at the sunlight filtering between the tops of the trees in the midmorning air, thinking about Prince Aidan's description of Lyonsvarg. “No, my Lord; I have not yet been to Lyonsvarg. There seemed to be little sense in traveling the lands as a squire without the rights to my own shield. Honestly, I haven’t ever strayed far from Leincrad. I spent the past few years competing in tournaments, but I didn’t win one and receive my shield until yesterday.” She smiled ruefully. “The rule that a tournament must be won for a graduate to be awarded their shield most likely sounds unfamiliar, because I am the only Academy graduate that rule has been applied to in all its history,” she told him. “Perhaps, as the first female to last through all the years of training and pass the final Ordeal of Knighthood, the maesters felt that I needed an additional test of worthiness. So I was an unofficial knight for the past three years. I hope you don’t think me to be complaining, sire,” Lyn added. “I just wanted to explain why I haven’t done very much traveling before now. But rest assured that I am fully capable of this task of escorting you.”
She glanced beside her at the map half-open within her sack. From what she could tell, they would soon be arriving at the nearest village.
Lyn was slightly taken aback by Prince Aidan’s politeness. She thought she’d figured out his character; but he seemed to genuinely want to know what title he should address her by.
“I’m no lady of court, my Lord,” Lyn said after a moment. “Sir is fine. Or… Perhaps even just Em—I mean, Lyn, if you desire.” Lyn felt a hint of warmth rising to her cheeks. She couldn’t believe she’d almost just told him to call her by her given name. Emelyne was a delicate name she would have been more suited to if she had become a harpsichord player or a seamstress. She much preferred Lyn; especially after the overtly feminine nicknames she’d been given by the likes of Sir Orenel back when she was a child.
“Sire, have you ever been to Lyonsvarg?” she asked after another few minutes of quiet traveling. She had no idea what to expect of the kingdom, and knew only that some of their customs were more traditional than those of Leincrad.
“As you wish, my Prince.” Lyn waited until his attention was diverted from her, then she made a face and rolled her eyes.
Having gotten that out of her system, Lyn hopped down off the wagon and watered the horse, adjusting the bridle to be more comfortable. No sooner had she done that than a couple of twigs snapped in the nearby foliage. Suddenly alert, Lyn eased her sword from its scabbard quietly, so as not to alarm the prince. After all, it could be a small wild animal just passing through. She kept an eye on the wagon and swept the perimeter, ensuring that there was no one lurking in the shadows.
Lyn didn’t find anyone in the immediate area, but she didn’t see any small animals, either; and couldn't stray too far from the prince to search through the trees. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up as she informed the prince that they would be moving again, and took up the rains. If bandits or other ne’er-do-wells were following them, they would be less likely to attack this early in the morning, before noon. Still, she had to keep a more watchful eye as they approached the nearest outlying village for an afternoon repast. If all went well, they should be arriving there around two in the afternoon.
