John listened to Cia and Seth's answers, then turned to look at Cole, as he had just entered the bar and had asked a few questions about what John had said. "Yeah, of course I know where the place is supposed to be...I work out of the same blacksite as Pariah, our kidnapper." John replied rather matter-of-factly. "But aside from that, I need somebody to pretend to be my captive. Thing is, I've been out in the field too long and they'll more than likely sense something is up if I arrive empty handed." He continued, his voice cracking a little at the sight of Cole equipping his guns.
"So far Cia has refused and Seth is alright with it. If we have any more volunteers, then speak up. We need to weigh our options and see who'd be a better choice to play captive. I don't have all the details worked out, but with the way that Seth wants your take, Cole; you sound like the leader-type. So that leads me to assume you'd have a plan of your own, right? Cause I doubt you'd leave it all to a "good-for-nothing" DMA agent like me..." John said, trailing off into a rather depressed tone of voice, sitting down on the floor with his back against the bar counter. He then looked down at his hands, as if they might provide him some long forgotten answer to some kind of personal question.
After a moment he lifted his head up. "Hey...Cia...when this is over...do you think I could...I don't know...work at your orphanage? I feel like I might owe it to those kids...people like me are why some of their parents are dead." John asked, thinking about the way Mayumi had looked at him in the memory compared to the way she looked at him in the orphanage. "Finn just helped me recognize that I met a young girl named Mayumi at your orphanage, and actually even once before then. I was once assigned to capture her, and even though I let her go, I am still related to the death of her parents." He added in a soft voice. For some people it might be hard to tell if he was being sincere, or if he was faking. For others...he would sound pretty honest about it. But John soon realized he had more immediate things to attend to, and to a deep breath as he stood back up.
