I want to write, but don't ever seem to have the drive anymore. Every time I come back to this place and pop in to see how things are going, I want to come back. But I just can't seem to stick around.

At this point I think it’s safe to say I hate college, since I’m in my graduating semester with 6 classes, but I’m also pretty anxious about whatever will happen once I’m finally done.

That last month of the semester hit me real hard, but so begins the recovery process. I just want to chill out for a bit without having to think about another academic paper...

Bio

It's been 4 years so I may as well put something in here, right?

I tend to enjoy worlds verging on the bleaker side of things, not really sure why. I like 'em gritty and somewhat grounded, with a reasonable amount of realism (fun takes priority though, ofc). I guess I just like having a sense that defeat is right around the corner, though overwhelming odds are always best saved for those wonderful moments when everyone feels like a total badass regardless of victory or defeat.

I've really wanted to find an RP set in the worlds of Red Dead, Hunt: Showdown, For Honor, the Metro series, and a few others I can't remember at the moment. Any time I look I come up empty-handed, but I'd still like to find one.

@Zaphander Oh, yeah, pssshhh, I knew that. Duh! What, you think I didn't already think of that? PFFFT! Lol! Of course I did, it's so clearly obvious - like how could you not? I mean you'd have to be a big dumb dumb to not know that. But that's not me, cause I had totally already thought of that. I just didn't want to say it, cause... uh...

...yeahh.
I just realized that entering through the north gate is probably gonna be a pain in the ass, isn't it? First the hellish landscape, then a heavily fortified gate just one week after a siege? Sounds like a fun time. Like going through Hell just to find out they've got TSA down there too, just on the way out instead of on the way in.

@Strange Rodent True, but depends on the type of axe doesn't it? Some seem like you'd practically be beating them with a stick. A thick stick, granted, but a stick nonetheless.
I think my characters would love to join a monster hunt, but alas, I haven't posted yet. Still need to at least read recent IC posts.

@Strange Rodent I didn't really mean it'd cut through it, me mentioning cutting was a mistake on my part. It should dent the hell out of it, though, right? Cause axes, especially long axes, crush as well as cut.
@Lucius Cypher Yeah, that's mostly true - except for the fact that a culverin doesn't have a trigger and requires two hands to operate. That's what the 'slow match' is for, so at close range you could probably deflect the slow match or bind the arm or grapple or whatever.

Also any knight worth his salt should know there are sword techniques developed to counter armor, like half-swording or mordhau, but there are still way better tools for the job. That's why we have maces and warlocks, or the ultimate weapon; poleaxes. Your standard plate armor's not gonna withstand the force of a mighty axe, with all that momentum behind it. Now, if you're wearing chainmail and gambeson, you might not end up badly cut but you'll still have to worry about impact trauma.

This is fun, I like this. I haven't even started roleplaying yet. Hope I'm not annoying, though, some people don't like when I nerd out like this.

EDIT: I love when phones just needlessly autocorrect
EDIT 2: It took me until now to realize it autocorrected "warpicks" to "warlocks". Thank you, phone.
@Lucius Cypher Yeah, I was hesitant to use it, but ultimately I couldn't resist the cool factor. It's like having a silver weapon - they're honestly not very practical, even for what they're designed, but they're really cool.

But, I assure you, I'm definitely not gonna be the guy to try and bring revolvers or literal hand-held cannons into this. I want to stay relatively grounded in reality, and my current understanding of hand-held culverins is that they're more psychological weapons than physical.

I mean they'll still do some damage if you hit something, but from what I know they're not the most accurate things and require too much work to operate for more than a couple of shots - especially in combat. Which, I assume (I'm no scholar), is why crossbows remained more prevalent until the advent of the musket. I only expect to fire it maybe once per combat engagement, and really only if Garren is at range.

I pledge to drink shoot responsibly. And also to remove it should I be asked to do so.
Okay so I put up my characters, but... I may have gotten a little over-excited. I dunno, just let me know if they don't fit in and I'll get the paddle.

@Lucius Cypher That's okay, I understand.

Alright, cool. Thanks for the more in-depth explanation. I'd seen a much shorter version a little while ago, but I guess that just means you're going above and beyond.

I'm not sure if the characters I had in mind would be too OP according to those constraints, but it should be a simple fix.
Just popping in to voice interest, don't know if I'll follow up on it yet (I'll probably do something and forget I even posted this). I want to get back into writing, and I figured something more lax like this would help get me back in the flow.

Is there anything I'd need to know to get started? It's been a while, and way longer than that since I've actually tried a free RP. It seems like characters are pretty freeform, and I know it says "jump-in", but I'm used to some of the formalities of casual. In a wordy/rambly mood too, I guess.
