What kind of doctor would I be if I ran away from a case I already took up? 'Course I'm certain!

Wouldn’t blame you at all if you did, in this case.
*Motions to the pad*
Go ahead and step on, and Lieutenant Hale will send you down. To the courtyard, specifically, so don’t be concerned that you end up outside at first.
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

*Glances at the disk*
I'm guessing that's my one-way ticket in?

Correct. And we’ll pull you out under any circumstance in which we ascertain it’s safe to do so.
*Stops and faces you*
Last chance to back down. You’re absolutely certain about this?
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

*Grins in satisfaction*
In this practice, a few doses of dark humor is the norm. It's good for the soul.

So long as it doesn’t sway you.
*We approach a door where a couple of soldiers in full mechanical armor who stand several feet taller than the average man stand posted, and they step out of the way with a loud thud each and they also salute as we enter into a room not quite as grand as the bridge. Inside rests a console, a few workers, a small assortment of other machinery and terminals and a round, silver pad on the floor*
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

That would be perfect. I'll take a look at the stages of progression.
*Laughs after the salute*
Is that in honor of your rank or in honor of the dead doctor walking?

My rank. You’ll find we’re not quite so defeatist, doctor.
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

*Gazes down at the society before following along*
Do I have any point of contact to reach once I’m there?

The person running the show in the hospital is just one of their senior doctors, unfortunately. Bless their soul, they're making due with what they have, and that includes leadership.
*Many members of the ship staff stop and salute as we walk past, though I keep my attention on our discussion*
Once you leave the safe zone, I can point you in the direction of our guys. They're nearby, and have been affected for less time than the actual population of course.
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

To that level of precision? I'll leave that much to you if you have the means.

Of course. I’ll accompany you to the transmission bay, in case there are any further questions before you depart.
*Turns away from the view port and walks past you to a door in the back*
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

I've brought everything I'll need with me. But if anything else crops up, I'll let you know.

Sure thing. And you can teleport yourself?
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

Nothing like a mystery sickness. All right, I think that about does it.

One more thing.
*Reaches out and holds an earpiece toward you, in the palm of my hand*
We’ll provide you additional resources at request, so long as we can get your hands on it. And if you’d prefer to head down with any additional resources at the onset, I recommend asking for them now. For similar reasons to the transportation restriction, this will be the last time you see the inside of our ship until we can confirm it won’t spread.
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

Understandable. Are any of your men down there at all?

A small handful of our doctors, who went under the initial premise that the plague was more conventional.
<Snipped quote by Armed Forces>

That's fine, but it's not clear to me what the problem is with normal travel.

We’re unsure exactly what the influence even is- If, for whatever reason, you become exposed to the “disease” during your entry, it would be exposing the safe population unnecessarily. Would rather just skip that possibility entirely, until we know how it’s transmitting.
