Sorry I haven't been around this week due to some RL stuff.

Baou was a spell unique to Zatch, not really a spell class. I think when it was first revealed it was about as strong as a Gigano spell, which makes me think Gigano would generally be unlocked around the 4th slot. Zaguruzemu-powered Baou could beat a Dioga Class, so probably a minimum of 7th for Dioga.

I don't think we should be getting Shin level spells at all, although it might be because I found the serial escalation that happened in the Clear Note arc to be one of the weaker parts of the series (although it helped that they had to go through extensive training to unlock them). At least, there ought to be a few tiers between Dioga and continent-destroying Shin.

Just my two-cents.
Does anyone want to join me and my pair for a storyline I've been thinking about? Not really planned out yet, but PM me and we can discuss it.
"Another death was confirmed last night... a police officer on patrol duty responding to a robbery at a local convenience store. As with other incidents, an as-of-yet unidentified weapon was used on the victim which held the power of a cannon. Witnesses near the scene described two perpetrators... an unknown man in his late thirties and a small child with brown hair, possibly his son. This brings the total number of known casualties to four, with one missing. There have been several unconfirmed sightings of people resembling these profiles around the city for the last week, so we recommend that everyone exercise caution when approached by-"

Katie stood in front of the television, wearing the extra large white t-shirt she had slept in while watching the news and brushing her teeth at the same time - a common routine for her. She turned as she heard her roommate come into the room behind her. "Aren't you running late today?" Velma, a young woman two years her senior with short ginger hair, said in a sharp tone (ironic considering that she rarely went to class herself). "And why do you always watch the news? Turn on something good at least."

Katie threw the remote to her while turning to head to the bathroom - passing by Viorel who was fast asleep in a blanket on the catch as she did so. Within ten minutes, Katie had already changed into her clothes and brushed her hair as she walked out the door with her bookbag in hand. Her campus was merely a twenty minute walk from her apartment, but not wanting to be late she immediately broke into a light jog in attempt to hasten it by a few minutes. Perhaps because of that haste, however, she failed to notice as a man and a small boy passed by her on the opposite sidewalk heading in the direction she had come from.

Katie had arrived in her classroom with a few minutes to spare, and was unpacking her notes as one of her study partners plopped down on the seat beside. "Ah, decided not to skip after all, huh?" he said with a smile, and she raised an eyebrow at him. "I didn't think you'd give up your perfect attendance so easily, but I'm sure your uncle understands."

"Uncle?" she asked, giving him a puzzled look, and he gasped.

"Oh! Did you not meet him? Your uncle came here about an hour ago, saying he wanted to take you out to breakfast but didn't know your schedule. I figured you weren't up yet, so I sent him to your place. Sorry, I should've called, but he wanted to surprise you."

"How did you know it was my uncle?" she asked curiously.

"That's what he said... who else would he be? He was holding the same kind of book you've been carrying around lately, so I thought you had to be-"

Katie stood abruptly, cutting him off as she grabbed her bag and ran out of the classroom just as the lecture was about to start.
"I told you to just play Mario Kart or something!" Katie exclaimed, her bookbag slung over her shoulder as Vio clung to her foot and was dragged behind her through the street. It had been two weeks since he had come to live with her and her roommate; two agonizing weeks as she was forced to put up with his hotheaded and irritating personality. "College isn't a place for brats! Go home!"

"But what if another mamodo attacks!?"" Vio cried in response, drawing attention from other pedestrians at the odd scene between them. "We're partners- we need to be together!"

"I told you to stop calling us partners," she snapped back, trying to kick him away, "I'm not involved in that crap! Besides which, there are 7 billion people in the world... our chances of running into 1 of 99 mamodo by coincidence seems abysmally low if you ask me."

"But... but..." Vio replied while stuttering, only to finally be kicked off Katie's leg and left on the ground as she stomped off dismissively. "Well screw you!" he finally called out to her as she walked away, but quickly backtracked uneasily when she showed no response. "Wait no, I didn't mean that!"

~~Meanwhile, on the other side of the city~~

"Dezurga!"

A man in a black suit was left wide eyed and jaw agape as he leaned against the far wall of his office in panic as what had just been his desk was now shattered into countless pieces before his very eyes. In the dust kicked up by the spell stood two outlines. "Mr. Hermann, please...! Please don't hurt me!"

One of the two outlines stepped forward and emerged through the dust, wearing the uniform of a construction worker complete with a hardhat and bearing a dark scowl. "Tables have turned, haven't they Mr. big shot lawyer? Just a few years ago, I was the one begging you not to ruin my life. Back then I was a low class nobody... I was helpless..." His scowl turned into a slight, dark smile as held up the glowing, light tan spellbook in his arm in demonstration. "But now... now I have power!"

The lawyer's eyes began to water as he stared up at the book in desperation, and then darted them downwards to a small boy, no older than 6 with spiky sandy brown hair and lines running down his cheeks standing beside the construction worker. With a spark of recognition, a series of connections were made in his head and he began to speak desperately. "Wait! That book - I've seen one like it before! More than a month ago... there was a strange-looking child who visited our building with one, except it was blue..! He tried to get everyone to read it, but no one could!" He was stringing his words rapidly in attempt to probe for a reaction, and saw a silver lining when he saw the young child flash a look of interest. "I can help you find him... I know what he looks like!"

The construction worker's expression, however, had returned to an non-amused scowl. "Mr. Krause..." he said in a low voice, "on that day three years ago, what was it you told me?"

"Wha-?" he stuttered. "I- I don't remember, it was years ago!" Tears began to flow down his cheeks. "Please...!"

"You said 'I don't care'... so why should I? Dezurga!"

Blood splattered about the room as a spell was unleashed from the boy's mouth and collided with the man.
"Koneshu!"

It took a moment for the supernatural sight to fully register in Katie's mind, causing her to step backwards with her mouth agape for lack of speech. A thick concrete fence that the strange child who called himself Viorel had dragged her to after her shift ended immediately had a hole blown through it before her very eyes as a blast of bright blue energy was released from the boy's palm the moment she had said the spellword. It was a moment before she realized the drain of stamina that had accompanied it and fell to one knee, panting while processing what had occurred.

"I... yo-... we did that?" she asked, stuttering between pants while Vio turned back to her with a broad grin.

"Your heart power provides the energy, I release the spell, and the book is the medium," he said, continuing to smile in delight at having finally found his bookmaster. "Now will you believe me?"

Slightly regaining composure, Katie shook her head and looked back at him as more questions flooded her mind. "And there are other... mamodo that can do this?"

"99 more," he replied, his smile changing form into more of a determined smirk, "and 99 spellcasters like you. The last team remaining will be crowned the king of our world."

"Monsters from another world... spellcasters... battle for king... what is this, a fantasy book?" Katie thought aloud while closing her eyes and rubbing her temples, only to open them and realize she was still holding tightly onto the cyan book with the same hand and flinched. "This is too weird..."

"So maybe its unexpected," Vio replied cheerfully, walking up to pat her on the thigh, "but it's not like you don't get anything out of this. This power is at your disposal! Revenge on your enemies, the respect of others, immense riches! And all you have to do is help me become king."

"I'd rather not go to jail either," Katie replied blankly, instantly negating his excited speech. "This battle stuff sounds dangerous - I don't want anything to do with it." She looked down at Vio, to find that his smile had turned into a pitiful, puppy dog look.

"But..." he mumbled woefully, "my kinghood..." She turned to walk away dismissively, but was stopped as she felt him bear hugging her leg with tears flowing out his eyes. "You're not supposed to refuse! What about the powah..."

"I said no! Let go!" she said while trying to shake him off of her, only to stop as she noticed his disheveled look and dirty clothing. She paused for a moment, her leg in the air with Vio holding onto it, and then spoke under hear breath. "Earlier you said you'd been looking for someone to read your book for weeks... have you been living on the streets all this time?" He looked up at her with a soft nod, and she let out a tch from her lips as she lowered her leg.

"I guess you can stay at my apartment for now, then," Katie said under her breath, and Vio's look became one of joy. "But I'm not doing this battle crap, got it!"
Katie stared down at the stony blue skinned boy standing in front of her desk, looking up at her with an audacious grin. "Mamodo?" she asked unenthusiastically while flipping through the cyan-hued book that he had handed her and raised an eyebrow at the strange writing within it. She paused briefly and flashed a look of interest as she came upon a glowing page that she seemed to inexplicably understand, but shook her head and shut it dismissively soon after. "Shouldn't you be in school? I can't help you, kid."

The mamodo child chuckled as she bent over the desk to hand the spellbook to him, refusing to accept it and pushing it back into her hands. "Don't lie, miss," he said, his smile growing broader, "you can read it, can't you? You're in this with me now whether you believe it or not." She rolled her eyes as he pushed the book onto her desk, unconvinced, and he went on. "Hang onto this book then... and I'll meet you after work and show you the truth."

With that said, Vio turned and exited the college office where Katie was on duty as a student assistant; drawing a few eyes from the adults walking through the hallway from his young age and strange appearance. After watching him leave through the glass wall, Katie soon turned her attention back to the book and opened it to the glowing page with a slight spark of curiosity. She read it in silence. Koneshu...?
Is anyone doing any teaming up yet, or is it all solo for now? Would anyone be willing to ally with my pair and roleplay with them?

Also, can I assume that we're able to make our own enemy teams to battle without needing approval?
I like the explanation for spells you've used, but I also think Attacks could be subdivided further for clarity. For example, the difference between general spammable attacks (Zaker, Zakeruga, Teozakeru) and ultimate attacks which cost more energy but with much more power (Bao Zakeruga, Gigano and Dioga Class spells). I think there should be some form of recommendation for when a spell of a certain level can be obtained on the spell list (for example, no getting a dioga spell early on).

I've been looking for an RP like this - I'm in.
