@orcpunx all those should be super easy to find. People always need grunts in those fields; hard labor but easy to find.

All of you if there is some "thing" you want for your characters or some "pet" you want for them please let me know here. Now is the time for me to work them into the story. We are traveled, wiser, and more focused than ever before...its a great time for our characters to start growing up into proper adventurers.
Heh heh. glad it was helpful. I just wanted a good excuse to play a character who lectures people on how rude it is to get rocks dirty. 😛
@mokley I had a plan. It might even be a good plan. 😛 1) ECG is a defender of the stone and rock in the tangle, they look to him for protection. And something is messing with his rocks, moving them around (I made the assumption the stone passages were not voluntarily moving around...if this is wrong this whole point is invalid but reason 2 should still work) 2) he is obsessed with learning more about rock and stone and the ways of the earth...discovering how to turn people into rock would likely be the most important thing he could ever learn. That is worth any risk for such knowledge.

Snuck in a chance to finish up
@mokley I sent you a PM with part of my character sheet. I don't have time to finish it right now because my husband is hopping up and down with impatience and getting really annoying about it. I have the thing built in my head just not time to type it out. I apologize for the incomplete but I wanted you to have an idea of what I was working on. When I get it finished I will, of course, post it here.
Character sheet incoming hopefully today. Don't want you to think I've forgotten.

If you are looking for a grand adventure about saving damsels/lads in distress and blasting dragons out of the sky with mighty spells then look someplace else! If your looking for a story about struggle, overwhelming odds, the beginnings of a hero/heroine, and the choices between justice and vengeance then welcome to Rites of Passage

On the continent of Faerun, in the world of the Forgotten Realms, the Time of Troubles has just ended. The godly pantheons have stabilized, the divine beings are no longer forced to walk the earth as mortals, and their powers are once again being fueled by their worshipers on the mortal plane. Gods, both good and evil, seek to secure a place in the heavenly and abyssal hierarchies and for some the acquisition of devoted followers, through any means necessary, is the only way they will achieve the dominance and influence they crave. For though Faerun is enjoying a much needed time of peace, a sigh of relief after a terrifying time in history, the wars of the heavens and hells are eternal. And there are deities from beyond Faerun, deities that would grow in secret and stealth until they can challenge even the great gods.

Much of this is unknown to you however and what you have heard is so wildly twisted and varied in story that it is impossible to know what exactly happened. It doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of your world. Player Characters are children between the ages of 10-15. Most work hard all day long, either for their families or teachers to whom they have been apprenticed. Free time is rare and most of the day is devoted to work or study. They have all the problems and joys of a child of their age and station in life and while most are from laborer families a few might be street rats or from what constitutes and upper class in the small towns and villages living off the woods and rivers along the black road. Life is simple and usually very very busy. The needs of life and survival take precedence over imponderables and philosophy. Concerns over the squabbles of the gods rarely enter into day to day life, and while many might profess to be religious few have the dedication and devotion to have more than a basic grasp of Faerunian religion.

Few have lofty goals and for most children it is assumed they will take after their parents or master. Their skills, their moral compass, and their personal and professional goals will be formed as they take on an adventure that will send them from rural village to bustling city to sea to jungle.

Alone now, with only the few friends they have possibly made and the few skills they learned in their rural life, the children now face a challenge far beyon the skill of their years. Strength, Wits, Cunning, Charm...all will be needed to reach their goal. But if its revenge for the fallen or Justice for the living remains to be seen.

As chapter 2 closes and Chapter 3 of our story is beginning we welcome new characters to join the journey for we gather now in the bustling city of Baulder's Gate to wait out the winter and chase our quarry to the jungles of the south. A knowledge of the Realms is not required. A caveat however: while we do not give up we do move incredibly slow; this thread will be unlikely to get in the way of other RPs or life in general as we rarely expect more than a single post a month. I favor quality posts over quantity so emphasis on character growth and development is key. Here is the OOC; if interested shoot me a PM to discuss characters.
New Updates:

Maps will be added into Character's tab info post soon as well a "chapter update"...basically to include the intermission between where the boat dropped us off and through the winter at Baulder's gate

I will be putting up a post to recruit new members: if anyone shows up here...welcome but be aware we move very slowly. The others can attest to that.

Posts regarding your actions over the winter, what sort of job you got, if you made any friends in the city, etc. Basically a slice of life post would be welcome. This is a large port and trade city; any typical jobs one might find here are fairly easy to obtain. work at the inns, guard work, dock work, farm work, hunting, fishing, smithing, etc. Almost anyone will be willing to take on an apprentice if they don't already have one. If you want some atypical/highly skilled job (want to be an opera singer, a thief, a wine maker, a blade smith, a midwife, etc) let me know and we can work it out within reason.

The boat left the children on The Trade Way, just south of Daggerford. The city of Daggerford appeared to be untouched by the black priests however the children were reasonably concerned about avoiding unwanted attention. Throughout their whole journey on the river they had the pressing feeling they were being watched. All three of them felt the presence but since they talked little they didn't really discuss it. They never were able to catch anyone watching them; just the occasional feeling. With no proof what was the point of sharing.

By the time they disembarked from the boat and it turned to carry the wizard and his companions back upriver the three kids were rested and ready to travel by foot once more. They didn't stop at Daggarford, instead turning south and beginning the long trek to Baulder's Gate.

Brisa picked that destination, through all her hours spent studying in private on the boat she had come to put together a very rough timeline of the strange priest's actions. The three strangers had appeared in Baulder's Gate from some unknown location, Brisa suspected it was the land called Chult she had found in the map book she carried. They had purchased supplies for a long overland journey. They had traveled inland from Daggerford, following the list of towns they had listed it was clear they were following the Black Road. They had stopped at Twiddledale and turned around; most likely because Twiddledale was on the edge of a vast desert and travel across it was no simple matter.

Brisa shared her notes with the others once they were no longer on board the boat; as pleasant as everyone had finally ended up being she was afraid they might try and stop her. It was decided the best way to find the priests was to find out where they came from and that meant Baulder's Gate.

By the time they reached Baulder's Gate winter was not far off; and winter on the Sword Coast wasn't the most pleasant of affairs. Chilling winds and rains pelted the coast and made travel by land and sea incredibly difficult. What wasn't difficult was finding out information on the three strangers. They were well remembered as were all strange visitors up from the southern “jungles.” They had arrived several months ago and departed for the south on the last southbound ship running ahead of the winter storms. While in the city they had caused no trouble, spent good coin, and in general drew no attention other than to be dark skinned black haired strangers in a land of fair skinned natives. Of course all the gossips that they children talked to assured them that the jungle was just packed with these strange people; and reports ranged from devout assurances all of these strange humans were uncivilized heathens who ate babies to they were all wealthy artisans who brought up weapons and crafts formed from strange woods, metal, and stone. And everything in between. The only clear fact was that the southern jungles were strange places full of bizzare wonder, great danger, and vast riches...in that order.

Brisa had never seen a jungle, had no idea what one was like, but everyone in Baulder's Gate spoke of the land with awe explaining that the vegetation was so thick and dense you couldn't even pass through it on foot. Travel was limited to the few roads and waterways. And the only real city of any note was Fort Beluarian; a trade fort and the resting place for so many adventurers and mercenaries traveling to and from the strange lands. It seemed pretty obvious they would need to book passage on a ship heading to the Fort but for now they were stuck to wait out the winter storms.

The children were able to rent a room above a brothel; the prostitutes were surprisingly welcoming and protective towards the children and offered them the tiny abode at a deal even the kids could afford. And so the kids settled down to their first “grown up” winter in a bustling trade city. They got jobs, earned income, quickly became experts at bargaining and purchasing needed supplies, and in general took their first big step into full “adult” lifestyle despite the fact that not a one of them was over 16. It would be a long winter but one they would emerge from older, wiser, and with a variety of new talents.
