Name: Albert Pierce
Role on the ship: Breach Medic
Appearance: A wiry man in his mid 50s, of average height and wiry. He is in remarkable shape for his age, although he doesn't look particularly powerful. He has dark hair that has been cropped short, and round, wire-frame glasses with very thick lenses, indicating severe vision problems without them. He looks and dresses the part of a gentleman and a scholar, always sharply dressed when not in medical scrubs or wearing body armor.
Personality Traits/Quirks: Albert may be filled with a sense of wanderlust, but his heart is in scholarship, not scrapping. He hopes to use the profits from his exploits on the Wolverine to begin studying the mysteries of the past in earnest and preserve the artifacts of the Federation before they're destroyed or cannibalized. Personally, he is a jovial, although eccentric, man who is constantly friendly and happy to speak about his research and topics of interest, even if he is the only person interested. He is also incredibly blunt, which is typically not seen as a positive trait in the medical field. These quirks, along with his unsavory past, have made him something of an outcast among the crew of the Wolverine.
Noteworthy Skills: Knowledge of a great many topics, not least of which are biology, medicine, history, and the technology of the early Federation and Old Earth. Excellent reflexes, dexterity, and speed. Decent accuracy with a variety of weapons. The ability to improvise moderately effective weapons, traps, medicines, and materials out of very limited resources. The ability to keep a cool head and positive attitude no matter the situation.
Special Equipment: A (previously) ceremonial sword from his former House, since reworked by Albert himself into a working blade. The family crest is emblazoned on the golden, jewel-encrusted hilt, with a tapestry-like engraving displayed on the broad side of the blade itself, long since worn with the sword's use and time.
Bio: Albert was the fourth son of what would become the last line of the House of Pierce on a distant trading planet. Being so far removed from the line of succession, he was given the freedom to pursue his desires at his leisure, and became a scholar of numerous different subjects, hoping to advance in the field of history and biology upon completion of his studies. Unfortunately, these plans never came to fruition, as his father died suddenly of natural causes shortly before the shockwaves of the Federation's collapse hit the planet he once called his home. The Pierce heir, Albert's brother Julian, was a hedonist and a womanizer, completely uninterested in governing the planet. In stark contrast to the iron-fisted rule of his father, the planet collapsed into anarchy in a matter of weeks as Julian cut funding to the police force in order to pay for new fountains of wine in his private garden. Within months, the planet was ruled by pirates, smugglers, and criminals, who had decided the Pierce family were no longer necessary. Albert was spared from the murder of his entire family by his studies, which allowed him to have enough knowledge of human anatomy to serve as a medic in a pirate fleet, which soon departed from the newly christened Haven. 35 years later, Albert was a respected member of the pirate crew and used his life savings to leave the lawless sector of the galaxy and advertise his services as a medic to the first scrapper ship that came along, the Wolverine.
Flaws/Vulnerabilities Albert has some difficulty in understanding and communicating with the 'common folk,' a flaw that was only made worse under the pirates, as a result of his noble bearing and slight fear of their actions after living under 'those barbarians' for years. Although he has not shown himself to be particularly untrustworthy (if a bit… scattered morally), few who know of his past are quick to trust him. Additionally, he is new to the scrapping industry, and although more than experienced in combat and working under limited resources, the specifics of his new profession are unknown to him. Besides all of this, he has a tendency to say and do strange things, and fluctuates between being scatterbrained and all over the place to being overly focused on something, to the point of forgetting to eat, depending on his work at the time.
