Character Personality: A very strong woman. She's been through a hell lot and gone out the other side even stronger. She's very much a loner though and finds it hard to trust anyone as she never really been that nice to her.

History

Born to construction worker and nurse, Melaina was brought into a world where it was hardly like she existed. Her mother died during her childbirth leaving her father to look after her. He spent all his time working or sleeping though, so she really just brought herself up. When she was 16 left home to find her own way and make something of herself. She didn't want to become a star or something but she wanted to be noticed.

Finding a man at the age of 18 that payed her all the attention to her she felt like the luckiest woman in the world but it turned sour very quickly. He was possessive and aggressive, wanting to know where she was at all times and not letting her hang out with other men. It soon became apparent that she made a huge mistake with trusting a brute like Henry. Beaten and emotionally blackmailed she found it ridiculously hard to leave. After one particular bad fight she left with a black eye and a broken arm and ran from their small apartment with just her handbag in her possession.

The years that followed weren't too much better. She had a habit of dating the wrong men but she knew never to get too close and fall so much in love as she had the first time. She made it so she could always get up and leave at any time. Always with a small bag packed and a belief that she could make it anywhere.

At the age of 26 her belief that she could always run away took a beating when she found herself pregnant to a man she knew would make a worse father then partner. She also knew she would make a poor mother so she went to a doctor in hopes to get rid of the child. She also went to get rid of her ability to have children but quickly realized she had signed up for more then she intended.

Dr.Diplodoc had found her in need of help and with no money and no known family. This made her an easy candidate as a guinea pig for his new experiments. Dr.Diplodoc was interested in testing the effects of his serum on an unborn child. After she and her child had been used as a guinea pig by Dr.Diplodoc, she showed no meta powers and found herself one day waking up in the streets and no longer with child. After living alone on the streets sick and out of it, she started to discover there was in fact something different about her.

Powers (Be Specific): She can create illusions of a persons worst nightmare. She creates it so that it looks as real as anything and it is right near them. At the moment her powers only effect people within a few meters around her but she is just starting to learn how to control them. On that note she sometimes manages to create an illusion of her own nightmare by accident.

Weaknesses: Other then her illusion powers she's pretty much human meaning anything that could hurt a human could hurt her. She also has trouble controlling her powers.

Leaning against the wall was a small figure that huddled in a blanket. The figure shivered with the cold as two figures bumped their way down the alleyway. With a hacking cough, Mary looked up at the two drunk men walking their way down. One stopped, fiddling with his pants as he went off to the corner to what looked like to take a whizz. That was when the other man noticed Mary sitting there in what looked like a hospital robe and covered in a itchy looking blanket.
"Terry, you need to check out this crazy chick"
Terry now done with his business walked over with hardly his pants zipped up in a stupor. Mary now finding two larger men staring at her with lop sided grins could just feel her hairs rising on her arms. She had enough with the cold, the sick and now the threat of drunk men. Her eyes flashing she looked right into their eyes and said, "Would you like to see something fun?"
Terry started to nod but the other man even while drunk of his face seemed to know something was wrong.
The next moment one man had run out of the alleyway as fast as his legs could carry him and another had dropped to his knees crying and mumbling "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have..."

Well, there are two options here. Your character could have either received her powers from the domes that have appeared as of this current story arc or was directly given to her by Doctor Diplodoc (just like my PC's Raptor and Arachne). For the first option, the domes have been around for only a couple hours at the shortest and maybe a day at the longest. Furthermore, these domes are isolated to a few major US cities (Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle) , so so your character would have to have been in one of those cities to have been affected by the domes.

For the second option, there is a larger window for your character to have gained her powers. It is currently late February/early March in the IC. Doctor Diplodoc has had a working serum since August of the previous year (i.e. the same time when Raptor gained his powers). Between then and the current time in the IC, Doctor Diplodoc has been gathering individuals in order to give them powers. Some have remained with him (e.g. those metahumans siding with him in the current story arc), while others have not (e.g. Raptor, Arachne, etc).

A good analogy for Doctor Diplodoc's serum would be either the artificial serum from Heroes or the Terrigen from Agents of SHIELD (minus the whole being covered in rocks part). The serum grants superhuman powers to non-metahumans. While the majority of characters affected by this serum have some sort of animal-like characteristic(s), it is not a requirement.

I was thinking maybe one of the guinea pigs before he got the serum correct. A bit Wolverine/Deadpolesque. Would Dr.Diplodoc done something like that or should I just say another Doctor or something had been working on a serum at the same time ... or something

I was reading known events and would it be acceptable to make a character that had been experimented on by the scientist from the Pax Metahumana story? I was thinking she could have gained her powers from that and think of them as some sort of curse kinda thing.
If so if anyone has already established how long he's been planning this and how he experimented and stuff, I would really love to know to see if it would work with my character :)

*jumps startled by sudden hello, then turns and smiles* Hello, thanks for giving my heart a jump start! And yes, we're always open for new applicants which at some point we're starting a New Season but don't let that stop you. People have currently entered this rp's end running are using it to get familiar with their PCs, have some minor fun and establish fun connections and stuff for S2. So, whip up a PC and join into the fun!
