I'm glad you guys liked the movie.

I was afraid that fans of the original would give it a far below average rating rather than the about average rating it deserves. Some are doing that.

Why post this thread if I didn't want to hear what you had to say? Because I posting this thread with specific instructions that I only wanted to hear viewpoints from people who have actually seen the movie. That's why you got an immediate dismissal. That SHOULD be enough for you to understand this situation.

Having a discussion with someone about something complex, when they've only heard someone else's views on it, is usually quite hollow and pointless.

Well I'm going today. To prep myself I rewatched the original and the (2015 anime) reboot last night. I don't think I need to rewatch the series because at this point I've practically got both gigs memorized.

Try your best not to spend the entire time contrasting in your head. It's worse than the source material. However, it's a good movie by its own merit.

Even if you don't think that your second hand ideas of the movie aren't useless, I'm specifically saying that I don't want to hear them.

Does it not register in your head that your second hand sources might not be valid? Especially when told to stick to first hand sources only?

I guess my question. Have you seen the anime series and/or movies and Do you like the movie because it's a proper adaptation? (or in spite of it?)

Yes. I've seen the original movie as recently as two months ago in a theater. My fucking avatar is from the TV series. I've seen the TV series.

I like the movie exactly for what it is. It's not meant to be an exact adaptation of GitS 1995. They made an origin story instead. There are liberties taken, but that doesn't mean it's not very good for what it is.

And just about the time I walked out of the theater I became sick and tired of parroted opinions by people who really don't know what they're talking about.
