WHAT WE NEED: JAPAN AND EUROPEAN NATIONS
”The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp.”Nation Sheet DumpIt is January, 2015, and the world is tense. NATO and the EU are together rattling their swords, threatening against more aggression from the East. China’s military is growing, their dominance in the Asiatic nearly uncontested as they expand their Air Patrols and Naval Presence. Russia has taken control of the Ukraine after four months of conflict killing nearly 13,000 in its wake. In the face of a war-ready West, the East reverts to the pen, using political pressure to keep their rivals in line. Though the West is reluctant to use force, it may not have a choice, with Russia threatening to enter Romania as the scenario turns to protests within Bucharest with many wanting to succeed from the EU; and not to mention China’s continued encroaching on Japanese and Korean Air Defence Identification Zones in the Pacific.
Which weapon will prove more useful in 2015 and the following years, the pen or the sword?
Well, this is a modern-era NRP where we will be taking control of real-world countries and their real-world governments in 2015. With the resources at their disposal, their situations to worry about, and their relations to improve or break-off. Realism isn’t a big deal here, as this is more just for some good fun, so don’t worry about breaking relations that would never really be broken! Here is a bit about the world in 2015:
- Germany won the World Cup in 2014 against runner-up, Spain.
- Russia invaded Ukraine in April of 2014 after tensions lowered and then raised again. The ensuing war lasted ninety-seven days and resulted in 13,521 deaths.
- China enlarged its ADIZ in the Pacific on July 21, 2014. This was followed by increased US Naval Presence in the region.
- Afghanistan signed the ISAF Defence Agreement on August 2, 2014, projecting to keep 25,000 NATO forces in Afghanistan until the end of 2018.
- Romanian protests began on November 29, 2014 and have been growing in size. The Separatists want to leave the EU and join Russia. Putin is willing to take Romania, though force is not his first option as NATO has threatened war.
- A new radical fighting force in Afghanistan/Pakistan/Uzbekistan/Tajikistan has arose and began fighting NATO Forces since December 2, 2014, calling themselves Jundallah al-Afghani (JAA Forces) meaning “Afghanistan’s Army of God”, they are, in most instances, worse than the Taliban.
RulesRules of the game are pretty normal. No godmodding or metagaming. Listen to the GM’s final VETO in major arguments. War is player-decided, but based on both side’s capabilities and strengths. Respect Guild rules and Etiquette at all times. Blablabla.
Level of CommitmentThis is a High-Casual, Low-Advanced NRP, so I expect roughly 500 to 1000 words minimum per post, and at least one post per week. However, I am lenient with this, as I understand how work can get in the way (I’m a school teacher in China, I understand not having the time sometimes, just let us know!).
