Apparently, I am not dead.

Bio

Hey all. I'm a few sunsets over 30, and I live in Michigan.

I'm a former Marine, currently kind of going to school.

I've been RPing since AOL, so that's like <counts, then recounts, then sighs>, over 15 years.

I RP at an advance level.

I'm pretty awesome, but I'm kind of direct, prickly, and assertive in terms of the RPs I participate in and the people I RP with.

Feel free to drop me a line any time about pretty much anything.

Go easy.

@Teal Tell your friend "Azseth said to kick rocks while I get my character sorted out."

@Tomahawk - I need a sample from you, but in the interim, everything looks well with Robin.

@Vandy - Stacey is approved. Go ahead and put her in the the other meat.

Gunna work on an IC post, then another character for the Walkers.

TOO LATE THE MOMENT HAS PASSED!!!!

Az
Just an FYI, Sunday's are usually full up for me until late evening. I may poke my head in here or there though.

Az
And one more thing. If you sent me a PM, a character, or sample, and haven't heard from me, please feel free to send me a PM, poke me, whatever.

My inbox is chaotic as hell, and I don't want to lose anything.

Same thing with posting approved chars and stuff. Be patient, but if you suspect I am overlooking something, I will never be upset or snap at you for trying to help me run the RP.

Thanks.

Az
As for a timeline, simply put: I'm not sure. I have, offhand, maybe 2 or 3 other players, who are in the process of submitting characters and samples.

Once I LOCK OUT THE RP to new players/chars, It'll be a week or less. At that point, I just want to get my head around stuff, address any concerns and make sure we're all moving in the same general direction. I plan on locking out the RP soon, within a few days.

Sorry everyone, loooong day.

@Tomahawk Fort Leonard Wood in this storyline/world was transfered to the Marine Corps, similar to the way in REALITY Miramar was has been transferred to the Marines from the navy. I just did it because a buddy of mine used to always talk about how the Marines should take over Fort Leonard Wood. This is because there are several Marine Corps training facilities there, most of which I THINK have to do with AMTRAKS. As Marines we hated that place because A: there isn't SHIT to do there and B: we're surrounded by soldiers on their base and they hate us.

For the conflict in Syria, I did not go into detail and will not. So. If you feel like making up the specifics, go ahead and do it. This is part of what I like to do with my RPs and players. I do not mind them filling in blanks as they see fit, ESPECIALLY if it helps them personalize a character and/or that character's experiences. Let me know your thoughts on this.

@Vandy I SEE THIS AS ATTEMPTED MUTINY AND YOUR CHARACTER WILL DIE IMMEDIATELY AS PENALTY! Joking, but let me go into some details about immunity. Basically though, at this point in the game, people who are immune will be the majority of the survivors because of the nature of the infection.

It happened everywhere, to everyone, at the same time. Were you already in a bunker? Then you still may have been exposed. Keep in mind that once Person A is infected, they may show now signs. This means that for anywhere from several hours to 2 days, they are going about their business. In doing so, they are spreading the infection through the air. Contact. Fluid exchanges. Essentially, any person around them is exposed and infected.

As @Tomahawk and @Vilhelm mentioned, there's more to that. You CAN still get bitten and die, and then you'll rise, even if you ARE immune. You could be immune, be shot in the heart, and then reanimate.

Being immune doesn't mean you will not reanimate. It means you will not be infected.

Additionally. If Person B is bit, and immune, they get sick. During that time, they are contagious and actively spreading the infection. So if they are near Person C, who is not immune, C is still getting sick, even though B is immune.

And yes. Immune people can still starve, bleed out, be shot, have a heart attack, commit suicide, etc.

Some could argue that being immune is a curse because, well, you're living through all of the horrible shit that everyone misses because they were lucky enough to just fucking die.

And honestly, in a world like this, worrying about zombies is, at BEST, maybe a 33% thing. If there are no zombies, what are you eating? What are you doing when there's a blizzard, or drought? The environment is a factor. That's a third of the issue, maybe more depending on where a person is at and what environmental factors they face.

Then, there are humans. I am not sure about you, but if there is you and I, in this world...and I have a gun and training, and no conscious, and you have food...best case, you lose your food. Worst case, you die. There is a difference too between humans and zeds.

Humans will actively hunt you. They'll use traps. They'll use cunning.

So. >IF< a player has that "IDGAF, my char is immune lololz." Good. Then they'll still likely end up in some trap sprung by a bandit somewhere.

Also, the Mackey report said 5-8% were immune. The report also says they don't know a lot. They don't even know how many "types" of different infected there are. In short: the Mackey report was done with haste with as much information as could be gathered at the initial stages of the outbreak.

They may not know shit.

5-8% could ACTUALLY be 10-15%. Numbers could be skewed because, as stated, an immune person CAN still die and turn, which may be misconstrued as "being infected." This also means little because if hypothetically, there was a SWITCH and instantly, 10% of the people were immune, the other 90% were infected, that doesn't mean 10% of the worlds population is alive. Because in this hypothetical situation, that 90% starts eating. And that 10% quickly plummets down to a lower number.

@ChaoticFox and @Augmented and I think a few others who have posted in the IC, I am getting there. Like I said, long day, lots of OOC stuff, applicants and samples to read. When I personally read your post, I'll give it a LIKE so you know this. I may forget, but for the most part, I'll be doing that.

I encourage you all to do the same.

@Vandy I know it was mentioned by others, but just confirming. Right now the IC is open to approved characters ONLY FOR POST IN THE PAST! Nothing posted should be before November 3rd, 2017, because this is the day the RP "starts" IC. Make sense?

@Halcyon You don't have to do a sample, we're RPing together. Just focus on your char and being sexy. Not necessarily in that order.

Sitting alone at a small diner was a man, his only company a cup of coffee he hadn't touched, an empty glass of water, and a plate with a half eaten sandwich. He checked his watch and took another bite, washing it down with water as another man came and sat down without a word. The two nodded to each other and stared for a few moments. The one who'd been sitting was clean shaven, younger looking and had very short, brown hair while the other was a bit older with longer blond hair and a full, albeit slightly short beard.

Finally, the younger one spoke up. "Hey man." The other responded, "hey," and there was another minute silence. The bearded man spoke up again. "You uh. We need to talk. Can you..."

He stared at the bearded man, raising an eyebrow. He'd known him for some time, even done a few missions together. He also knew what he was, and what he heard in his voice wasn't supposed to be there. Something was wrong. "Yeah. Sure man."

The older of the two sat and stared at the table, the fingers of his hand tapping in some random patterns that he couldn't figure out as he watched him. Everything about this screamed "wrong" to him as he watched. Finally the other man spoke up, confirming his thoughts. "Man...I. Something's wrong."

"I can see that," he responded, taking a sip of his water.

"It's that I've been. I don't know man. Thinking. Have you ever thought about what we do?"

"Every time we have to do it."

The man gave a frustrated sigh through his beard. "No. Think. Like. Look at that couple there, what do you see."

He looked over, there was a man and woman sitting together at a table. "They are intimate and exclusive, but they haven't been together long. They didn't sit across from each other, they sat closer so that their knees were almost touching. They're laughing and flirting and don't seem to pay attention to anything going on around them. It seems as if the only thing in the world is each other."

"They're a couple, they're in love."

"And them?" The bearded man motioned to the couple across from them. He looked over, took it in for a fraction of a second. "Friends. They go to school, out for lunch. Plutonic. He's single, she's involved with someone, but he wants something with her. Not going to happen though." He could have gone on, mentioning other things about them, but he looked at the man across from him, sipped his water and asked, "what are you going on about?"

"Damnit man. You just see, you don't feel. What the fuck. I'm out man, I'm done. I can't just go on like this anymore. I stopped seeing and started feeling and I can't do this."

At this point, he didn't know what to say, how to react. He assumed this was some kind of test. The Agency had never done anything like this, but this was to see how he'd react, check if he was unraveling. He looked around suspiciously at this point, now wondering who in this diner was who...

It had to be, because there was no other excuse or reason that this could be happening. East West Six training doesn't allow this.

"Don't you ever want that? Any of that?"

"Look, I don--."

The man interrupted him, "Just. Listen. Because I can't tell anyone, but I have to tell someone. And you can tell them, tell them everything, I don't care. I can't just do this. I see that, that couple. And I know exactly what's going on, I probably know more than they do about what's going on. And I don't know shit. Nothing. Not a fucking thing. But lately, it's different. I want it. I just want other stuff."

He watched and listened staring at the man, studying him. What he saw and heard made him more nervous. He furrowed an eyebrow and tried to make heads or tails of this. He wanted to think it was a test, that this was something he was supposed to see and recognize.

But he could tell that everything that was being said was genuine. That was more disturbing than thinking this was some kind of test or set up.

He adjusted in his chair and took another sip of water, finishing the glass. "What do you want? What're you gunna do?"

"I don't know. What can I do? I don't know what I can do. I just. I want to feel something. I can see everything. I see people, families, love, hate, desire, fear. I see all kinds of stuff, and what do I have? It's empty. It's nothing."

He watched and listened and had no idea how to react. It wasn't about the situation though, not anymore. He simply had no idea what to say--which was ok because the bearded man seemed to be talking to himself more than anyone. He wasn't even looking at the young man across from him anymore, he was staring at something on the table.

There was another 2 or 3 minutes of silence before he continued speaking his thoughts. "You. Me. We're going to die some day. Maybe here. Maybe old age. Maybe in some sandy desert. Or some city. Or the jungle. Shot, stabbed or blown to shit. And we're not going to have anything. Not a fucking thing. Not even a god damn name. It'll be like we never fucking were."

He tugged at his beard in thought and stood up, exhaling deeply. "Look. Not sure what I'm going to do. But, you tell them whatever. I know you will tell them anyway. I hope you're better than me, I hope you never deal with this. Seeing is easier than feeling." He stood there as if he toyed with saying something else, saying more--or maybe he was hoping for the other man to say something.

Instead he nodded to the man as he stood there and without another word, he turned around and left.

The next morning, he was pulled into an office and interviewed by 4 other people and asked a myriad of questions regarding the meeting. He told them everything, exactly as it happened. Exactly as he was trained to do. Exactly as he knew he should.

The interview was over and the men all nodded and thanked him. He stood, opened the door and as he was about to step out, one of them said. "And by the way, Agent Jacobs committed suicide last night."

He nodded and left the office, and walked down the hallway. The only thing he could think is that he was not surprised. He saw this was going to happen.
Hey, I wanted to let you know that I MAY not get a post done until Monday, but I'm not dead. haha. Actually, I will be doing either two posts, or one post for both settings.

Also, I am not sure if you would be interested, but I'm starting a zombie survival RP that is not a typical zombie survival RP. It's going to be slower, and extremely focused around character development, not just shooting a whole bunch of zombies and being badass.

If you're interested, feel free to let me know, and if not, I understand. I just always try to extend invitations to my RP network, haha.

Hope your weekend goes well.
