Sorry everyone, loooong day.
@Tomahawk Fort Leonard Wood in this storyline/world was transfered to the Marine Corps, similar to the way in REALITY Miramar was has been transferred to the Marines from the navy. I just did it because a buddy of mine used to always talk about how the Marines should take over Fort Leonard Wood. This is because there are several Marine Corps training facilities there, most of which I THINK have to do with AMTRAKS. As Marines we hated that place because A: there isn't SHIT to do there and B: we're surrounded by soldiers on their base and they hate us.
For the conflict in Syria, I did not go into detail and will not. So. If you feel like making up the specifics, go ahead and do it. This is part of what I like to do with my RPs and players. I do not mind them filling in blanks as they see fit, ESPECIALLY if it helps them personalize a character and/or that character's experiences. Let me know your thoughts on this.
@Vandy I SEE THIS AS ATTEMPTED MUTINY AND YOUR CHARACTER WILL DIE IMMEDIATELY AS PENALTY! Joking, but let me go into some details about immunity. Basically though, at this point in the game, people who are immune will be the majority of the survivors because of the nature of the infection.
It happened everywhere, to everyone, at the same time. Were you already in a bunker? Then you still may have been exposed. Keep in mind that once Person A is infected, they may show now signs. This means that for anywhere from several hours to 2 days, they are going about their business. In doing so, they are spreading the infection through the air. Contact. Fluid exchanges. Essentially, any person around them is exposed and infected.
As
@Tomahawk and
@Vilhelm mentioned, there's more to that. You CAN still get bitten and die, and then you'll rise, even if you ARE immune. You could be immune, be shot in the heart, and then reanimate.
Being immune doesn't mean you will not reanimate. It means you will not be infected.
Additionally. If Person B is bit, and immune, they get sick. During that time, they are contagious and actively spreading the infection. So if they are near Person C, who is not immune, C is still getting sick, even though B is immune.
And yes. Immune people can still starve, bleed out, be shot, have a heart attack, commit suicide, etc.
Some could argue that being immune is a curse because, well, you're living through all of the horrible shit that everyone misses because they were lucky enough to just fucking die.
And honestly, in a world like this, worrying about zombies is, at BEST, maybe a 33% thing. If there are no zombies, what are you eating? What are you doing when there's a blizzard, or drought? The environment is a factor. That's a third of the issue, maybe more depending on where a person is at and what environmental factors they face.
Then, there are humans. I am not sure about you, but if there is you and I, in this world...and I have a gun and training, and no conscious, and you have food...best case, you lose your food. Worst case, you die. There is a difference too between humans and zeds.
Humans will actively hunt you. They'll use traps. They'll use cunning.
So. >IF< a player has that "IDGAF, my char is immune lololz." Good. Then they'll still likely end up in some trap sprung by a bandit somewhere.
Also, the Mackey report said 5-8% were immune. The report also says they don't know a lot. They don't even know how many "types" of different infected there are. In short: the Mackey report was done with haste with as much information as could be gathered at the initial stages of the outbreak.
They may not know shit.
5-8% could ACTUALLY be 10-15%. Numbers could be skewed because, as stated, an immune person CAN still die and turn, which may be misconstrued as "being infected." This also means little because if hypothetically, there was a SWITCH and instantly, 10% of the people were immune, the other 90% were infected, that doesn't mean 10% of the worlds population is alive. Because in this hypothetical situation, that 90% starts eating. And that 10% quickly plummets down to a lower number.
@ChaoticFox and
@Augmented and I think a few others who have posted in the IC, I am getting there. Like I said, long day, lots of OOC stuff, applicants and samples to read. When I personally read your post, I'll give it a LIKE so you know this. I may forget, but for the most part, I'll be doing that.
I encourage you all to do the same.
@Vandy I know it was mentioned by others, but just confirming. Right now the IC is open to approved characters ONLY FOR POST IN THE PAST! Nothing posted should be before November 3rd, 2017, because this is the day the RP "starts" IC. Make sense?
@Halcyon You don't have to do a sample, we're RPing together. Just focus on your char and being sexy. Not necessarily in that order.
