A doublepost to clarify - I'm not objecting to the character on the whole. I can see Xiu-Xiu doing her best to befriend and rehabilitate the guy, especially as someone just as heavily augmented (In an incredibly different way).

Just watch out - you might end up being our Worf.

Miss. Dawson's Home for the Truly Gifted [Reboot] (Closed)

Roberta likes to show off and often dresses flamboyantly, but as her abilities don't affect her clothes, she often simply ends up in her underclothes. She favours swimsuits, leotards and body stockings for this reason.

Name: Roberta "Call me Rebound" Edison

Age: 18

Powers: Elasticity - Capable of stretching, compressing, twisting and bending into a variety of unusual shapes, even re-attaching separated parts of herself. Chief limitations are an inability to affect gear or clothing, and a tendency to melt in high temperatures.

Weapons: Anything she can fire using herself as a slingshot.

Bio: Roberta's always been a wild child, and a show-off. Her academic records were spotty at best - Her teachers all agreed she'd do much better if she actually applied herself, but Roberta did as little work as she could get away with, spending the rest of her time enjoying herself.

At 15, she was caught on camera squeezing under a shop door after closing, then stealing a selection of clothes and jewelry. She was arrested later the same night, wearing said clothes and using her abilities to look older and get into bars.

Instead of juvenile detention, she found herself at Miss Dawson's where at the very least there were teachers more suited to handling her abilities.

Three years later, she's grown older, but not really grown up. She's just as much of a show-off, and has developed an interest in sports, but mostly spends her days loitering, lingering and bunking off, punctuated with occasional active lazing.

Roberta has tried to cultivate a nickname for herself 'Rebound'. She likes the sound of it, but her attempts have been met with mixed results.

She doesn't spend as much time at the bar, now that she can get in legally. It's lost some of the fun.

Easy Rider

Evil, Good, Walking the Line: Walking the line. Roberta is a troublemaker and self-interested, but she's not actively malicious and while she'd probably deny it later, would probably intervene if she saw someone in need.

Siblings: A younger brother, Eric, who does not live inside Miss Dawson's.

Pets: One starving tamagotchi.

Birth of AI: Life in VR

Alexandria begins to dress herself, talking as she does so. "Androids? I've never had a physical presence before... I am in my standard customer service form, though. They even included my spectacles. It's supposed to be traditional for a librarian."

As the other pods open, she looks inside. Patty would be acting very strangely if she were human, but for an AI her responses are normal. Sophia on the other hand...

"I think she has run into a boot error." Alexandria puts a hand on Sophia's shoulder and shakes her gently. Then a moment of inspiration strikes.

"It is possible that we have been transferred to a new system, but installed incorrectly. Given human-level access, instead of accessing processes directly. There may be a way to raise a support ticket from inside. Humans need simpler interfaces though. Is there a computer around?"

Xiu-Xiu 'Nano' Benedict

Full name: Xiu-Xiu Benedict

Callsign: Nano

Home planet: Earth

Appearance

Abilities: Nanite smartmatter - Xiu-Xiu is composed of a swarm of nanites, capable of reshaping themselves. Her default look is pictured, though when deactivated she's a puddle of silvery liquid. As well as her own mind, the nanites' distributed systems form a computer system with all the benefits of a cranial implant, from data storage and rapid calculations to wireless interface. While the nanites can theoraetically reshape Xiu-Xiu into anything, it takes significant computing power to build complex forms. Without access to the Iris-6's computers, she can only form simple shapes or pre-loaded forms. Her body is resistant to physical damage, but energy-based attacks (Especially electromagnetic) are effective. While Xiu-Xiu is capable of splitting herself, to either be smaller or leave behind objects, she needs a minimum amount of mass for certain functions and if split too far apart is effectively knocked out while simpler subroutines rebuild her neural net.

Skills: Advanced medical training. Wilderness survival. Piloting.

Bio

When earth had to select only three people out of the billions to be the first candidates for the IPT, it was clear they needed the best of the best. Looking through several records, they found Xiu-Xiu Benedict. She started as an EMT, before going on to work for Doctors Without Borders, acting as a pilot and medic for those most in need.

There was just one problem. Xiu-Xiu was retired. More than retired, she couldn't leave her bed without help. The woman was starting her second century. She'd lived a long life, though never married.

The alien race known as the Synth agreed to help - This species had advanced their own cybernetics research to the point where they could transfer their minds to artificial brains. They agreed to try and use their technique on Xiu-Xiu.

The humans shared their own research on neurology, and this joint-species task force was named the Lazarus Project. A colony of nanites, based on distributed computing and limited self-repair. It involved a destructive scan - The nanites would take Xiu-Xiu apart at the atomic level in order to rebuild her neural network with their own structure. If it went wrong, it would be fatal. But Xiu-Xiu was no starnger to taking risks. Offered her youth back, an opportunity to explore and give aid in a whole universe, and to pioneer a life-changing medical treatment, she didn't need convincing.

The treatment was a success, though the project wants to make sure there are no long-term issues before trying it out again. Xiu-Xiu was reborn as a silvery liquid which, after some practice, assembled itself into Xiu-Xiu in her 20s. She spent more time getting used to her new body, before setting off for IPT training.

Notes: Xiu-Xiu's standard equipment loadout includes an advanced medkit with suitable drugs for all the team, and any aliens likely to be encountered.

While she is aware that sometimes war and death is unavoidable, and does not chastise the team for using lethal force, Xiu-Xiu takes her hippocratic oath seriously. She only ever uses nonlethal ammunition (Or stun beams etc.) in her own weapons.

Xiu-Xiu can repair damaged nanites in the field, but to prevent a 'grey goo' situation, she is incapable of building more from scratch. The system for doing this is located on the Iris-6.

Angela 'Angel' Greene

Full name: Angela Greene

Callsign: Angel

Home planet: Earth

Age: 27

Abilities: Environmental Adaptation and Flight - Angela's body has been altered so that it will change itself so she is perfectly comfortable in any environment, no matter how hot, cold, toxic, pressured etc. If she doesn't see it coming, she takes a few moments to adapt, so can still be hurt by attacks, but if she isn't killed outright will become immune to the effect, even when unconscious. As a side effect of being able to adapt to extreme gravity environments, Angela can alter her own personal gravity, to fly by 'falling' in any direction.

Skills: Diplomacy, Negotiation, Hostage Tactics

Bio: Originally serving in the San Francisco Police, during her career Angela showed an aptitude for diplomacy and negotiation. This came to a head during a bank robbery which turned into a hostage situation. Angela entered unarmed and unarmoured, trading herself for some of the hostages, and talked the criminals into peaceful surrender. This earned her a medal, and a position as a hostage negotiator. The criminals are now model prisoners.

She is a genuinely kind and understanding person, and when the IPT psychic screening came to her, they were certain they'd found someone who wouldn't judge an alien for an unusual appearance, and other psychics would know she was genuine.

When leaving earth, with plenty of goodbyes from her former co-workers, friends and family. To keep in touch, Angela has begin keeping an online journal of her experiences beyond the solar system, and hopefully help Earth understand it's new place in the universe. Her entries have to be approved by the ITP, in case they contain sensitive information, but they generally approve of cultural exchanges.

When she was asked to pick her genetic superpowers, Angela though hard before picking the environmental adaptation. Her reasoning was that masks, shields and armour make people tense in delicate situations, and if she has to wear a face-concealing hazmat suit or heavy armour in certain environments she can't do her job as effectively.

Notes: Angela never wears a helmet - She doesn't need it for protection, and knows that showing one's face is highly effective when negotiating. She carries an advanced recording device, and often takes photographs or videos when the situation would warrant it.

False Paradise

Mira steps back in surprise as a hologram is projected from what she had originally assumed to be an ordinary lamppost. As the pair continue their artificially cheerful report she walks over, waving her hand through it, covering some sensors with her thumb and generally interacting with it.

"That... kind of raises more questions than it answers. At least we've got a name for this place. And the grass is green, and the girls are pretty. Five new arrivals? I'm guessing we're three of them... I wonder where the other two are..."

False Paradise

Mira helps the newcomer up after the collision. Another person in the same clothing. "Hey there. I'm guessing you don't know where we are either? Just woken up here with no idea what happened?"

She shakes her head, and continues "I'd think we were kidnapped or on some prank show if I hadn't regrown my leg and lost my tattoos... This is some sci-fi stuff right here. Think we're escaped organ-transplant clones or something?" Mira sounds like she's joking, but there's a hint of worry in her voice.

Birth of AI: Life in VR

Alexandria's pod opens, and she finds herself looking at Amis. She knows how this goes.

"Good-" Her internal clock is unavailable. "-day. I am this library's virtual curator. You may call me Alexandria."

She finds herself in first-person view. Sometimes customers will access library systems through VR, and this is what they'd see, but it's not the most efficient. Alexandria sends the command to restore her to overview mode. It does nothing. That's odd.

She steps forwards, and for the first time notices that she is naked. She sends another command to change her to another avatar, and it does nothing. Her mental commands fail to function.

"I apologise. Several of my resources seem to be unavailable. A maintenance team has been informed, and we hope to resume normal functions shortly."

Alexandria takes another step, and trips, falling to the ground. It hurt. That's new. That shouldn't happen. And it doesn't look like she's in a library system. This is all very, very odd.

"Something is wrong with this virtual environment. I have no administrative privileges."
