Fael of the Wintersun

Nearly barreling through the crowd, Fael nipped at the ankles of and bit anyone who he perceived as being the ones on the offensive rather than the defensive. Unfortunately, he couldn't really tell the difference between them all and had to make educated guesses. The exception being, of course, pirates. The merchant ship that had owned him was prone to pirate attacks then and again so he had become well accustomed with them. It was any wonder, actually, why he hadn't been killed or sold off during one of those raids. He glanced up as he darted among the feet of those fighting to catch a glimpse of (what he perceived as) powerful magic. That wasn't anything he had come across before, and in his distraction, he had not noticed that as he reached an intersection, he almost collided head-on with another laguz.

Making a loud sound of surprise, he skidded out of the way in just a short time to avoid slamming into him. In his surprise, he shifted out of animal form and stumbled forward on the ground. "Crap! I'm sorry!" Fael scrambled to his feet and ran over to make sure he hadn't hurt him. He stopped and swiveled his ears, however, as he heard a low whine. Thankfully, it wasn't the sound of crying, but the loose wheel of a merchants cart that had been displaced during the fighting. He turned back.

"Are you... maybe trying to find a way out?" He spoke friendly enough, but it was clear by his posture and occasional looking over his shoulder that he was afraid of getting attacked with his back turned.
@Lmpkio its fine, yeah! i can work with that! ^^
@Lmpkio sure, i don't mind.
Fael of the Wintersun

At first, Fael didn't seem to notice anything was wrong. He was away from the ports, but the sudden rush of people and noise drew him closer. Which was a mistake, as he seemed to freeze in place, horror stricken. Not at what was happening, but it evoked in him memories of his home and clan. That night wasn't something he often thought about, but it was the reason he hadn't bothered to settled down in a populated area. He seemed to break out of his fear-induced stupor at the sound of young voices. Through the panic-stricken crowd he made out the sounds of children. He couldn't allow someone to get separated from their parents. Forcing himself to focus on the situation around him and mustering up the small amount of courage he had left, the laguz focused on sounds and took off towards the docks.

There he spotted a young boy by his lonesome, shedding a few tears in fear. It seemed he had been separated from his parents. Fael knelt by him, but that only seemed to worsen the problem. He suddenly felt acutely aware of his own ancestry, and that was probably the reason why. But he'd long steeled himself against that, and picked up the kid, carrying him over his shoulder. He weaved between crowds of people moving either direction, looking for a safe place to leave him. Thankfully, he spotted a group of sisters ushering by a group of people. He approached them, getting the attention of the nearest one. "Please take care of him." He mumbled, referring to the young boy. The sister nodded and he entrusted him to her. Sighing in relief, he looked back towards the port and took off towards it again.

Unfortunately, his frail frame didn't take for shoving through a crowd moving in the opposite direction. Biting his lip briefly, he shifted forms and slipped through the people, looking for displaced people. Seeing none that commanded him attention, he headed closer to where people were under attack. If he couldn't help people, at least he could try and help to prevent the town from being overrun.

Fael of the Wintersun

Even though he was by himself at most times, Fael crossed paths with groups of nomads often. After receiving a tip from one such group that they had possibly seen someone that he had been searching for, something stirred his heart. With a small bit of his faith restored, he swallowed his nerves and forced himself to act - he left the safety of his own wandering to actual go somewhere with a destination in mind. The laguz traveled almost entirely alone and by foot, as not only was he afraid of groups like a caravan might bring, he literally had no money. And thus, he set out to travel nearly the length of the continent.

By the time Fael had nearly reached where he was headed, doubts had begun to set in. Surely if someone had been going to a city from so far, they were traveling. Either to or from, it didn't matter. There wasn't a reason for them to still be here. But still. He had come thus far, and for fear of letting the small glimmer of hope he still had remaining go out, he knew he had to press onward. Self-consciously, he pulled his hood over his head to hide his ears, but not knowing how to hide his tail, just pulled it back down again. He had memories of the port from his days aboard the ship, and although he tried to suppress them, remembered quite a bit. There was a slight fear that someone near the docks recognize him, but he was much older now and probably seemingly completely different. Though, all concerns vanished and were replaced with nerves as he got deeper towards the heart of the port and more people passed by.
