Pythagorean Sunset

Riley looked at bob who was preparing food with a large sword.

As a gun strapped on his back and an SMG next to him.

Riley then turned his attention to the two bananas.

"Which of you is the strongest?"

He asked them both as he remained to be wary.

"Because I've never been one to be messed with and I hope that remains true."

Riley looked them up and down while trying to calm down.

Riley knew his abilities as a alchemist.

He could perform simple transformations of food in about five minutes.

As well as changing water to wine.

"May I have one?"

Riley asked the banana guy as he paused his beating.

He was surprised to see the banana guy's hands.

They were much like ice cubes.

"Can I have one Bob?"

Riley said as he held up his hand.

His brother took his knife and cut his banana.

He looked like a small piece of green cheese as Riley walked up and took the piece out of the banana guy's hand.

Riley looked to Bob as he went back to what he was doing.

"You may not want to hit me for fear of your banana turning into cheese."

Riley gave Bob a nervous smile as he handed Bob the piece of banana.

"Try it first.
See if you like it."

Riley had given Bob an odd look but as he went to take the banana a burst of flame appeared right in front of Bob's face.

Riley raised his hands and started to put up a wall of fire.

"How nice of you to have the decency to freeze me."

The banana guy said as he pushed against the wall of fire.

It was slow to dissipate but soon enough it was gone.

Riley looked over at Tae Bo and Plench Slorpwing with hate . "As a matter of fact, they did," Riley said with venom. "The orcs were making us kill each other. I swear, they are not even the worst thing about this wretched world."

"Of course not," Tae Bo said with disgust. "They are the only thing in it worth killing for."

"Be reasonable. If we do not kill the orcs, then they will come here."

"Not here, Riley. Only a place called Drenigraroth. It is a high plain in the very heart of the desert. And it is far away from every one of us."

"That means no to you?" Riley asked with fury.

"No," Tae Bo said, "because I do not care if it happens."

Riley looked disgusted. "Not even if the rest of us are killed and the orcs replace us with their own kind?"

"No," Tae Bo said again.

"Well, you are useless. And if this orc war ends, I will be very angry."

The group split apart and Riley marched away from the group. Tae Bo felt sorry for him and said, "Perhaps you are right, Riley. Perhaps we will never have to face a real battle."

Plench Screamed at Riley, "Do not be selfish. You do not even have a strong army. All you have is your anger and hate. Those are the only things that could defeat the orcs. If you hate the orcs, then they cannot harm you. The only reason they might try is if you become angry enough to do anything."

Riley watched Plench as he walked and slithered to his bed. He had known Plench was an efficient healer and knew that Riley had rarely experienced the sight of a vaunted demon annihilating his enemy. It wasn't the brutality that left him feeling cold. It was what he knew in his heart that Plench had done.

The kind man had killed those men for his own nefarious reasons and for Riley, that was unforgivable. As Plench stopped at Riley's bedside, Riley scowled and let out a rough growl.

"The curse," Riley said softly. "Haven't I suffered enough?"

"And to think, I had you believing there was nothing to fear." Riley huffed. "But it was all lies."

"No lie, just a misunderstanding, I know that."

Riley groaned and curled up in the fetal position. Plench felt a pang of guilt and wondered if he would ever truly know the answer
