@littleone - No. The world would not be better off without you. Those who know you will greatly miss you. Hang in there. Sometimes it might not seem like it but you mean a lot to those who love you.

I'm in the process of moving so I'm currently a bit CrAzY at the second. Hopefully, I'll be back to normal reply schedule soon (after the move and the insanity of getting basic unpacking done)

Yup.

And I'm sorry. I got a bit...carried away lol.
It wasn't enough but Gaheris refused to give up. Nietzscheans were not known to be optimistic. In fact, shortly before they had entered the Hephaistos system, Dylan had been joking about the toast Gaheris would have given. Ah Dylan, ever the optimist. Always seeing the good. It was a weakness and eventually led to his death. Still, it would have been nice to have the man here beside him. But what was done was done.

"Any chance someone picked up the signal?" He inquired.

Rommie monitored the small interface. Unlike the main ship, this barely had any sensors, barely any signal strength and was not directly tied to her. Technically she could interface with most ships easily, without managing the controls but even this pod was too simplistic for that. "Not that I..." She stopped.

"What is it?" Gaheris straightened, ignoring the slight pain in his side.

"There's a ship. It just came into sensor range." The pod lurched. "It's got us in some sort of tractor beam."

"Tractor beam?" Gaheris frowned. It wasn't very common. "What faction? Who is it?"

"I don't recognize the configuration. But we have very limited capabilities." The android looked back at the monitor. "But neither the Commonwealth or the Nietzscheans have it. Not in this purpose."

Gaheris quickly rose. Opening the compartment above him he pulled out a force lance and tossed it to the android. He grabbed the remaining three. "Set it to your bio-metrics." Even as an android, she had a unique pattern. He did the same. This way, whoever it was they wouldn't be able to use the weapons. If they tried, well... they'd be in for a nasty surprise. He keyed the remaining two to his DNA before putting them back. The third he placed in the holster. His original force lance was still on the bridge.

Rommie obeyed and placed the lance in her side holster as well. "You expect trouble?" She inquired.

"We don't know who they are." Gaheris was taking no chances. Technically, even if they were an independent faction, very few would dare try something against a Commonwealth ship - even if it was an escape pod. The Commonwealth had instigated law and order. They didn't tolerate wrongdoing or piracy. And they dealt heavily with any offender to keep it that way. Well, except for the Magog.

Gaheris pushed the thought away. That was for another time. "Let me lead," he commanded. "If they're adversarial than I don't want them to know what you are." Despite the fact that very few wouldn't mess with a Commonwealth commander, it could be very tempting even for an ally to get their hands on an android like Rommie. Not only was she extremely sophisticated and was true AI, she had the military knowledge, tactics, and the full database of a Glorious Heritage Cruiser. With only him here, it wouldn't be that difficult to attempt to kill him to get her. Not that she'd let them. Despite all he did, he was still her crew and the AIs were very loyal to their crews.

A banging on the panel as well a voice, caused them to look over. "Delete everything," Gaheris ordered. "We want no evidence of what transpired." It was wise considering they didn't know who this ship belonged. Not to mention, he didn't want any evidence of the Nietzschean betrayal revealed. At least not yet. If this was a Commonweatlh ship, it would come. Any captain outranked him and could get the information from Andromeda. But that would be something he'd worry about later. For now... He positioned himself between the door and the android even as she complied. The hatch opened.

Having something pointed at him immediately flashed danger. He didn't strike though, despite the idiot being within easy range. You never knew who else was out there or how many.

Stepping out, he examined the individuals. Completely straight, he ignored the injury at his side as he not only estimated those in front of him but everyone around him. This was not a familiar class of ship but he really didn't know that many - outside the Commonwealth and Nietzscheans of course.

"I am Commander Gaheris Rhade of the Commonwealth. And this is Rommie. May I know who I address?"

The woman stepped up beside him, also quickly scanning the room. Lips not moving she spoke so only he could hear. "I have no information regarding this type of vessel. The Commonwealth has not come into contact with this race - least not since we had our update."

"I am Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Enterprise. This is my first officer, Commander William Riker, and Lt. Worf - head of security. We represent the United Federation of Planets." He gave a slight motion for Will to put his phasor away. "We wish you no harm. We received your distress beacon." Picard frowned. "You're injured."

"It's nothing." Gaheris protested but the captain cut him off. "We'll get that seen to first. Then we can talk." He nodded toward Will to take over. When they were finished they could speak in the ready room.

"Captain," Worf's eyes nodded toward what appeared to be weapons. He was not pleased to have two armed individuals on the ship - neither of which he knew about.

"I'm sure they mean no harm." Picard said though there was slight firmness behind his tone.

Surprised they actually hadn't taken it away so far, Gaheris raised an eyebrow. "Would there be a reason to?"

"Captain, we're from the Commonwealth." Rommie stepped forward. "We mean no ill intent toward you."

Picard gave a slight nod. That was good enough for now. Besides, if they tried anything, Worf would undoubtedly react - quickly. "Number One," he said handing it over. "When you're finished in the infirmary we can discuss what happened in the conference room. Commander. Rommie."

Huzzah!!!
And yes, that works. :D

I concur. There's a lot of potential and we even have several arcs we can go through (and that's just starting).
Though, I'm sure we'll have lots more ideas before we even get near to the end of what we planned so far.
@Tranquility Welcome back.
I hope you had a very relaxing vacation.
I may or may not have checked your profile page out a couple times to see if you returned lol.

Though you will be happy to note that I did think about our story and I've been watching TNG again.
Anywho... Welcome back.
No hurries on our end. No doubt you're backlogged at the moment so don't feel like you need to rush.

Presuming you're still interested. ;)
His response was not what Estella was anticipating. She rarely got such ... positive response from people. One would think she was responsible for the plague, her people behind every trouble in Europe for the past several hundred years by the way most people reacted to her ancestry. But this... he didn't even seem to mind. Sure, not everyone she met immediately was prejudice. Refus wasn't. But it still surprised her whenever someone wasn't.

"No, I don't but thank you," she said in reply to his offer for a smoke. She might not be home but too many things had been drilled in her that was nearly second nature to her. And that included not smoking. And eating Kosher of course. Though, he was right. It was her issue to worry about and she was fine with that. She had a fairly decent model that helped. She wasn't ultra-orthodox. Every part of her food didn't have to be prayed over by a rabbi (which was near impossible to find in certain locations) - but at the same time she did follow her people's dietary laws. So in most instances, most people didn't even realize by her eating habits.

Estella finished wiping her hands and face as she watched Will light up his cigarette. He was such a strange individual. So different from her own father. Footsteps in the hall caused her head to turn.

"Hey, just wanted to see if you all needed any help." Roger stepped up to the doorway. He winced slightly at all the machinery. Wow. That was a lot more than he expected. He hadn't realized that the engine was so...complex.

"No, we're good to go for the moment." Estella replied automatically. She flushed slightly as she realized it probably was directed to the captain, not her. She sometimes had that habit of zoning and just taking charge - at least in something like this. Apparently, she was still in that mindset. She ducked her head to the captain, nonverbally indicating her apology for overstepping. She then turned slightly away to gather up some of the tools.
She was fast and completely caught Will off guard. He stood as the sword stayed within inches of his neck. His own hand had dropped to his sword but if she wanted to kill him, it wouldn't do him any good. She'd finish him before the blade even slipped out of the sheath. He was going to have to pay more attention and not let her get a chance like this again. Thankfully, she wasn't interested in finishing him off - yet. He didn't let it show but the tension he had faded just slightly after she turned back away. Keeping his face firm so as not to give anything away he stared at the crew before they all looked away and headed after Vivienne. He then continued, keeping enough room between them so she couldn't do it again.

The tavern was still fairly busy these late in the evening but only a few of his crew were around Charles when Vivienne came in. The strike surprised him. Immediately his first mate and the other crew members had their weapons drawn and would have taken her out except Charles waved them down. Reluctantly they eyed her before putting the weapons away. They knew her and her relationship with Vane but still - striking him was not something they'd seen her do. OR seen anyone do for that matter and live long to tell about it.

Running his hand over his nose and mouth for a second, Charles stood. "Always a pleasure to see you, my dear. Though, apparently you are in some foul mood." He snapped his fingers having the crew vacate giving them privacy so only he and Viviene could talk.

The first mate dropped a sword blocking Will but Will just glared at him. "This is my business as well."

Glancing Vivienne over Charles waved the mate to let him through. He leaned back casually, picking up a glass. He seemed relaxed but anyone who knew him long knew that he could have his blade out in a second running either one through if he wanted. He waited for Vivienne to speak. To explain. He was patient and could overlook her strike due to their history and his fondness for her but it better be a good reason. For like a daughter or not, he could easily put her back in her place.
lol. You can't forget Data. ;) jk.
At least you caught it. :)

But yay. They work. We don't need a lot of information on them. Just something to start us off with. We can always go back and add some here and there (did that with Rommie so lol).
And no problem. I can wait until tomorrow *sigh* jk. But seriously, no rush :)

Ooo phase banners.
And episodes huh? That will be interesting how we'll try to break that up.
I guess we can kind of work on that.
i.e.
Episode 1: Lost
Finding they're lost. Getting Rommie and Gaheris on board.
Probably end with the Enterprise finding out that Rommie knows the area. Or something...
Or we just write it.
But yes. Awesome banners *nods* That will be cool

The lack of emotion could be tied to making thinking she's Vulcan (unless of course the lack of knowledge she has initially on Vulcan and the Federation could feature that). Given enough time alone with the computer, she'd probably get caught up to speed fairly quickly - quicker. Though it would be very frustrating as she has instant access with herself on the Andromeda and would have to 'pour' over pages on the Enterprise. lol
But Nex will pick up not just a lack of well emotion but anything. Rommie will be completely unreadable - based off Betazoid capabilities. I'm thinking what we might do - is the initial meeting, Rommie doesn't give it away. But upon meeting Data she will be intrigued (remember androids are either a lot less sophisticated - like robots - or avatar units for ship AIs). The fact that Data is neither will intrigue her. That might not give her away but might make notice (especially when Data picks up other things - the lack of emotion, the logical aspect, the fact only ONE life sign was picked up). Then of course when Nex meets her and doesn't pick up anything from her. That might raise flags as well.
Then (either before they tell the captain or after) when Rommie is able to not only pinpoint their exact location but able to direct them with seeming ease - they probably figure it out.
And of course Guinan has her own special sixth sense - so she probably not only figures out Rommie but realizes that they belong to this universe.
Now THAT would be a fun conversation. Guinan catching Rommie (and maybe Gaheris) and saying that and their shock that she knows (Rommie will probably pick it up fairly quickly - "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth")
But yeah - I don't think I want to keep it secret long. It might not even last the day. We'll see. :)

(No problem. Younger Uhura works :) )
Yay. A replacement for Troi.
And nice. Ireland eh? Should be interesting.

Yes, very concise lol. :)
Though (don't shoot me) I have not actually seen DBZ (just pulled up a video to see if I can get his voice). :/
Yeah, I worked on it a bit last night :)
I was going to manually bring in one by one to make a mock idea but then I saw that one concept and thought that was a great idea. So... anywho... Feel free to tweak or make it better. I forgot to put in Uhura. I purposely didn't put in Guinan as she's more secondary and not really part of the bridge. But we can add her as well.

And awesome! :)
I'm thinking of getting rid of O'Brien (he does transfer to DS9 sometime - can't remember when. And this time period the Federation did take over DS9 so...). I'll bring in a male OC (maybe who doesn't like vulcans *snicker* jk ).
I'll have to work on that.

She'll find a way.
I'm thinking that initially she is ordered not to reveal she's an android. They figure (from the basic information they get from the pod) that the Enterprise is nothing they've seen before. And as Androids are very rare as it is (rephrase - androids of Rommie's sophistication are only created in the Capitol of Tarn-Vedra and only for Commonwealth Glorious Heritage Class and up (heavy cruiser and I believe there was an extreme heavy assault ship - maybe 2 made?).
Not sure complete cannon but my cannon for this is AI of this sophistication is extremely rare and only those on Tarn-Vedra actually knew how to create one. It's extremely difficult process and really a small group are made - more for the ships.
You do have less sophisticated AIs and androids but nothing on the sentient level Rommie's at. (though the show did have a planet of AIs 300 years into the future).
Because of this - she can be extremely valuable to an enemy or even another faction (one of the reasons Gaheris brought her along). The knowledge she contains not to mention the technology feat is something that people will kill for. So Gaheris isn't going to want her to reveal it. At least initially.
How long the rouse is kept up will be interesting. There was only one life sign in the pod. That alone will bring about some question as to why.
But yes - she'll have to figure out something. And eventually to make something real efficient, work with Geordi. I don't believe Data actually needed power himself. I can't remember.

Connection: I know there was an episode they were in different systems and the ship's AI could not 'connect' with the android. Didn't know where Rommie was. I making the range pretty much within probably a solar system. So if they are in the same system Rommie can connect. Different systems - not at all. This will be part phase I as they try to FIND the Andromeda (which might become phase II - see below).

Of course! We have to have some competition. Not everyone will be interested in a cold 'Vulcan' woman lol.
Thus another reason I'm looking at an OC instead of O'Brien. Someone to focus on Uhura. Picard won't and honestly, Worf is...selective on who he is interested in. He probably really won't even be interested in her physically (though he might be impressed by her fighting skills and strength - which btw I made a slight update in her bio)

(YAY! Yes, no Troi!) Thanks :)

Oh ok. Looking forward to it
And yes - do relax. That's what vacations are for *nods*
Relax and be ready for a whole bunch of posts when you get back XD

Here's an interesting concept idea:

Or a terrible mock shot with Rommie and Gaheris in it as well (had to build it in powerpoint lol):

And I hope you have a fantastic vacation! :)
If I don't catch you - talk to you when you get back.
Well she technically is separate but at the same time she does have the ability to control the ship. It's almost like two individuals (ship's core AI and the Android Rommie). In fact the core AI and Rommie have gotten into a few arguments over her more human characteristics.
So it's like two but they consider themselves as one. Not split personality - multi functioning. If that makes any sense. lol
But anyway to answer your question: the only physical thing that will hinder her is she isn't able to automatically recharge herself from the ship. She'll need to find another source to recharge herself.
However, personality-wise, it's like she lost a limb (or in this case both legs and arms). She can function without the ship but it's who she is (even though she is an android). Makes sense?

Eh it's ours so who cares?
We're good. :)

And ok. I'll try to post here.
This will be strange. Most of my interaction is through PMs but it will work.

And this should be interesting.
Everyone is going to be interested in Rommie lol.
Geordi. Data. Riker. Probably not Worf (though once he finds out how well she can fight.... lol).

And sshhh.. Don't tell them. It's only cheating if you get caught *nods*
At least per Gaheris.
Did you see the clip I sent you sometime back on him and winning? That sums up it up nicely.
