"Hmm, that's simple enough. I think I understand what your thinking may be... Propulsion?" As they conversed, Kaba turned his gaze back towards the leak. Bumu's makeshift sealant had began to give way. It was only a matter of time before they were surrounded by water. Kaba necessarily didn't like being around water, as he wasn't the best swimmer or even interested in swimming itself. Once the room flooded he knew the nerves would start to creep in. "We maybe have 30 seconds before the floodgates open. Let's get out of this as soon as possible!"
Kaba stared aimlessly as his new comrade, Bumu, plucked the rest of his team's members. As he began to quickly handle the introductions and possibly discuss strategy, suddenly they were thrust into their challenge. Kaba figured the exams would not wait and give the prospective Jonin an early advantage. It was fine, Kaba wouldn't be shaken by a sudden change in surrounding. As they appeared in a room, Kaba immediately began looking around as if his head were a turnstile. 'DRIP' As he tried to analyze their situation, a droplet of water made contact from above with his foot.
Kaba swiftly looked upwards and located the leak from which the water fell from. There appeared to be several leaks, but one was more prominent than the other and that leak began to expand. It seemed Bumu had read Kaba's mind in that very moment and sprung into action to seal the leak before the pressure caused the ceiling to collapse. Deciding to not waste time himself, Kaba clapped once and pushed both palms outwards in front of him. A rectangular barrier formed around the makeshift team. It wasn't a matter on if the ceiling would cave, but when. The barrier would undoubtedly protect the group from being injured from falling debris, and of course from being drowned. But they were in an unpredictable environment, mostly ignorant to the situation in front of them. "Way to be on your feet, fox. I'm not sure where we possibly could be but being directly under water is not ideal. Eventually we might become surrounded but this barrier should hold as long as we aren't too deep in a large body of water." Kaba looked around again and located a door off in the short distance. He pointed to it to alert his comrades. "If we are indeed flooded, we would have at least a few minutes of oxygen thanks to this barrier. I see a door...we could attempt to open it but a part of me feels as if that's too simple. There could easily be water on the other side that'd wash us away. Or another option could be to just wait until the ceiling caves, and pray that we aren't too deep underwater to make it to the top. I can reinforce the barrier with no issue but my chakra isn't endless and I anticipate that I'll need it for later. Any other ideas...?" Kaba waited to see if any other of his team members would chime in as time quickly ticked away.
Kaba stood, waiting impatiently while conducting some light stretching. He had been in much tenser situations, but the anticipation for the exam to begin made him jittery. He decided to scan around to scout possible allies, and possible enemies. Kaba wasn't well known just yet, but he had a keen eye for remembering faces and names. He could easily identify a large majority of the shinobi from Konoha. The other villages? Not so much.
As his eyes wandered there was a sudden commotion that drew his attention. However, Kaba could not locate the source due to the blanket of noise that filled the stadium due to the sheer volume of both spectators and participants. As Kaba began slightly pacing in the area he was in his ears quickly perked up from the sound of his name. He turned to see Bumu Aka. Kaba knew of Bumu, but not much about the fox ninja. Initially, Kaba's twisted face signaled extreme confusion. As his brain finally registered what Bumu was attempting to communicate, his eyes almost popped from their sockets. "WHAT THE F-" Swiftly, Kaba lifted his foot and swiped the tag. In the blink of an eye the tag was suspended about two feet in the air, surrounded by a small, sphere-shaped barrier. Only a moment later did the tag explode whilst trapped, muffling the sound of the explosion so as not to bring attention. The barrier shattered like glass, causing shards of chakra to fall from above. However, these shard disappeared before even reaching the earth, while the smoke cause from the explosion dissipated into the air. Immediately thereafter, Kaba quickly shifted his gaze towards the culprit, his eyes almost crazed.
"YOU.....!
As he made his way towards the fox, he was interrupted by the Hokage. Kaba briskly shifted his attention towards the leader of Konoha. As the Hokage spoke, a scroll appeared in Kaba's right hand. While continuing to listen, he opened the scroll to further examine it, slightly curious as to how the neat little trick was performed. Once the speech and explanation of the first portion of the exams were over, Kaba sneered. He turned to Bumu once again with a smirk one could only describe as dastardly. Kaba further approached Bumu, and placed his hand on the shoulder of the fox with a slight grip. Kaba peered into Bumu's eyes for just a second. Before today he hadn't interacted with the fox-nin but he knew that Bumu might be useful. Kaba wasn't even sure to address Bumu as 'him' or 'her'.
"The exams haven't even officially started and you almost caused me a fatal injury - You owe me, and I intend to cash in. How about you team up with me? I need a personal shield." Kaba then smiled at Bumu and continued on, not even giving the fox a chance to respond. "Perfect, then it's settled, you'll be with me." He then looked back towards the scrolls that had appeared before the Hokage. "What do you say about lightning?" he uttered in a sarcastically cheerful tone.
That morning the rays of the sun seemed to exclusively fall upon Kaba's slumbering body. He laid in bed, seemingly unaware of the importance of his day. While Konoha was awake, Kaba was asleep. And then suddenly, as if it were planned, he shot up from the bed and fixated his gaze upon the entrance to his room. Kaba stood there, impatiently waiting for his eyes to focus. Even before they could, he quickly muttered 'shit' under his breath. Not because he overslept on the most of important day of his life so far - but because that man stood between Kaba and the door. That man happened to be the head of the Joukaku clan, and Kaba's only living blood relative, Yagura Joukaku. Ironically, Yagura was also the only individual Kaba could not be civil with. The history between the two had been rocky to say the least. Yagura was in intimidating man, even towering over Kaba, who wasn't short by any means. Despite Yagura's old age, his body was toned as if he were still in his prime. This was the man that Kaba had to surpass, and this is also the man that Kaba loathes.
"Spare me the lecture old man, not today." Kaba darted towards the pile of clothes and other items he had piled on the floor. He was far from organized and asking for him to keep a clean room was more difficult than pulling teeth. Yagura peered as his grandson, who couldn't have been further from his polar opposite, scrambled to get his things together. "I will say this once, bring shame to our namesake today, and your claim as the head once I'm gone will vanish. I will not stand for-" Kaba sighed loudly, interrupting Yagura to predict his words. "I will not stand for incompetence or weakness...Yeah yeah, just leave please. Your presence is distracting..." Yagura grumbled and began to make his leave. "Just know that if I beat you to the exams, I will embarass you in front of everyone. Do not test me, boy!" Kaba sneered at his grandfather and continued what he was doing while cursing Yagura's name.
Moments later, birds scattered from rooftops as Kaba sprinted throughout Konoha, making his way to the site of the exams. He couldn't help from thinking that there was something important he forgot, but he had no time to stop and circle back. As he leaped and darted towards his destination, Kaba clenched his fists. I'll make him eat his words a millions times over... Kaba wholeheartedly resented his grandfather and to the blind eye, he was ungrateful for doing so. Yagura had accepted the burden of raising Kaba when he parents passed. He gave Kaba shelter and also made sure he never went without a meal. Yagura had also been responsible for a majority of Kaba's training. His feelings towards his grandfather still confused him. It's not as if the abuse he had suffered under Yagura's hand could be offset by the seemingly kind gestures he also performed.
As his destination cleared, Kaba attempted to clear his mind. He was unsure of what today would bring, but he wanted to use this platform to escape the shadows of Konoha. Today, Kaba was sure that everyone would be put on notice that he was special. As he entered the venue, Kaba quickly noticed that a crowd had already started to form. He was surely one of the last participating shinobi to appear. He glanced around and saw many familiar faces, including that of the Hokage himself. This was not the first time Kaba was in the Hokage's presence, but seeing such a powerful figure was automatically motivating. Not wanting to draw attention to himself yet, he slipped towards the back of the crowd and awaited words from the Hokage.
【Full Name】 Kaba Joukaku 【Nickname/Alias】 The Wall 【Gender】 Male 【Age】 18 【Age Appearance】 Late Teens-Early 20s 【Sexuality】 Heterosexual
【Village】 Konoha 【Birthplace】 Konoha
【Clan/Bloodline】 Joukaka Clan - The Joukaka Clan is a lesser known small clan located in Konohagakure. They are known for their boastful/prideful attitudes. The clan specializes in Barrier Ninjutsu. Kouba is next in line to head the clan after his grandfather.
【Rank】 Chunin
【Chakra Nature】 Fire, Lightning
【Appearance/Wardrobe】 Refer to images above. The first photo serves as his facial appearance, and the second photo represents his normal clothing. In warmer weather Kaba wears dark colored shorts instead of pants, and a thin sleeveless hoodie. Kaba stands roughly 6'1 (1.8 m) tall and weighs about 190 lbs (86kg).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Personality】 Kaba's personality is unique as he has two different 'sides'. These two sides are in constant conflict with each other and often causes Kaba to question who he really is. On one side, he's generally goofy and good-natured. He shows kindness to most, and displays a willingness to make his companions smile. He can often be clumsy and zone out more than he would like. Kaba has a very low attention span that results in him having trouble finishing things he starts. On the other side Kaba's personality and mood can become very dark. He will oft show a lack of empathy or compassion to those around him when his mood shifts. He becomes lost in his own unmanageable, twisted thoughts. He could be described as cold and merciless. This change only occurs usually when he feels bothered or insulted. During this time, Kaba usually attempts to alienate himself as it seems like the only way he can return to what he considers 'normal'. Truthfully, he doesn't know which of his personas is the norm for himself yet. In battle, Kaba is very prideful and cunning. He cannot stand the thought of losing at anything and attempts to always keep pace with his opponents. When he makes mistakes, Kaba will not always own up to his shortcomings and make excuses for himself. Sometimes he can become very complacent until given a reason to improve. Kaba would much rather eat barbeque and chase women than train, but when he does train he does so with the goal to be better than the man next to him. He can also be seen as quite immature for his age. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【History】 Kaba's was born and raised in Konoha. He doesn't remember anything about his parents, as they both passed away while he was an infant. His grandfather, who primarily raised him, only gave him vague details surrounding his parents' deaths. Outside of what he was told by his grandfather, he has heard many rumors that his mother had gone mad shortly after Kaba's birth and killed Kaba's father and then herself. Kaba, scared to learn the truth has never asked much about it. As a young child, Kaba craved attention, and would often cause trouble to keep his friends entertained. As he grew older he began distancing himself more and more from crowds, and only voluntarily hung around a select few. At a young age Kaba admired the different shinobi he would encounter, and would seek to learn from his grandfather who was very skilled himself. Kaba displayed a natural talent and quickly fell in love with the thought of becoming a renowned shinobi. Unfortunately his grandfather at the time was extremely stern with his training, and would frequently resort to physical abuse when he felt Kaba was slacking off. This is something Kaba never shared with anyone as a child, and he aspires to prove to his grandfather that he is a worthy shinobi capable of leading the clan. Although, due to the abuse, there is a part of Kaba that would like to retaliate against his own grandfather for what he did to him. Presently, the desire to seek revenge for the hell he endured grows each day. Kaba tries his best to suppress these feelings, but he knows that he will soon have to face them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 【Equipment/Weapons/Items】 Generic Shinobi Equipment Description: Kaba carries only the general tools/equipment a shinobi would possess (kunai, shuriken, explosive tags, smoke bombs) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Traits: Excellent Ninjutsu, Keen Eye(Long Range Combat), Good Taijutsu, Expert Chakra Control -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jutsu:
Name of Technique: Barrier: Sudden Defense Type of Jutsu: Fuinjutsu Rank: D Range: Short Nature Type: Description: This is a very simple, yet flexible and useful technique in where the user will form a single sided barrier(basically a shield) made completely of chakra. Although it is single sided, the barrier can be manipulated into a different shape such as a dome. This technique requires no hand seals to execute and Kaba can currently create up to two barriers at a time. The barrier created is all dependent on the user's chakra output. Kaba has mastered this technique to where he can make barriers of different shapes, sizes, and strength. The stronger and larger the barrier, the more chakra needed to form the barrier. The barrier can be broken so long as the attack is stronger than the barrier made. This is Kaba's main technique and his specific manipulation abilities are as follows: Barrier: Sudden Defense Animation - Kaba can control created barriers using hand movements, he can make the barriers float or move them up to 50 yards from himself. Barrier: Sudden Defense Assault - Kaba can manipulate the form of a barrier and use it as a weapon. Coinciding this sub-technique with Sudden Defense Animation allows him to launch projectiles at enemies as well. Fire Release Barrier: Sun - Kaba creates a superheated barrier that can cause up to 2nd degree burns if contacted with. Can be used with Sudden Defense Assault. Can abosrb lower ranking Fire Release ninjutsu to increase power. Expends more chakra than regular barrier. Can be nullified and weakened by Water Release Jutsu. Fire Release Barrier: Mine - Kaba creates a barrier that will cause a fiery explosion upon physical contact. The size of the explosion depends entirely on the size of the barrier. Can be used with Sudden Defense Assault. Expends more chakra than regular barrier. (see above caveats) Lightning Release Barrier: Fence - Kaba creates a barrier that will cause electrocution upon impact. The severity of the electrocution depends on the amount of chakra used to create the barrier. Can be used with Sudden Defense Assault. Can absorb lower ranking Lightning Release ninjutsu to increase power. Cannot be breached by Lightning Release jutsu. Expends more chakra than regular barrier. Can be breached easily by Wind Release jutsu. Barrier: Encompass - Kaba creates a barrier and conforms it to tightly cover the entire outer surface of his body. This can be combined with Lightning Release Barrier: Fence and Fire Release Barrier: Mine/Sun. This variation of the technique can be used to strengthened taijutsu attacks by forming hardened barriers around hands or legs, which can easily result in broken bones for an unguarded target. It does not slow the user down. Weakness: This technique has a cooldown that is entirely dependent on the amount of chakra used. Barrier strength can be categorized by ranks. At Kaba's current level D-C ranked barriers have a very small cooldown period of 5 seconds. B ranked barriers have a cooldown period of 30 seconds, while A rank barrier have a cool down period of 5 minutes. Currently, Kaba cannot create barriers stronger than A rank. Also, the creation of A rank barriers is currently very taxing for Kaba. He can only create 3-4 in a battle scenario.
Name of Technique: Expanding Barrier of the Abyss Type of Jutsu: Fuinjutsu Rank: B Range: Short-Mid Nature Type: None Description: After performing the correct hand seals, the user creates a small barrier cube in which they can toss towards an enemy. This cube can travel up to 15 yards and is controlled even in mid-air using a single hand seal after being thrown. Once the foe is in range the user will 'activate' the mini barrier and it will immediately expand up to 10 yards all around. During the moment of activation, the walls of the barrier will engulf whoever it comes into contact with, effectively trapping them inside. The walls of the barrier completely prevent any light from infiltrating, making anyone inside unable to see anything but darkness unless they possess a special doujutsu ability or the ability to create light. Sensing ninjutsu will also work inside this barrier. Weakness: This barrier can be weakened with any B ranked technique, and completely broken with an A ranked technique. Kaba can only keep it up for a total of 3 minutes. The technique will also auto-fail if not activated within 15 seconds of being thrown.
Name of Technique: Barrier: Filtration Type of Jutsu: Fuinjutsu Rank: A Range: - Nature Type: None Description: This technique is simple in concept, yet extremely useful. The user creates a barrier within themselves. This barrier is harmless to the user, and it's ultimate purpose is to filter any foreign substances from entering and harming the user. It doesn't protect from wounds such as stabbings or burns, but protects against dangerous toxins, inhalants, and can even allow the user to store oxygen to stay underwater for extended periods of time. This technique does not reverse anything that has already entered the user's body, and it continually drains chakra when in use, making it dangerous to keep active.
Name of Technique: Secret Seal Technique: Safeguard Type of Jutsu: Fuinjutsu Rank: A Range: Short Nature Type: None Description: This technique is not exactly one used for combat, but more for safeguarding or safekeeping. The user places a seal on a certain person or object. This seal is automatically activated when the the target area/object is in harm or danger. Kaba cannot place this seal on himself. It has various uses but was mainly developed to protect fallen allies. It can also be used to prevent certain objects from being stolen or even certain buildings from being entered by those not authorized by the creator of the seal. Once triggered, a near impenetrable barrier will immediately appear to protect the subject. This seal can only be removed by the original user or someone proficient in applying/removing seals. Even if the original user were to lose their life, the seal would remain intact unless broken.
