Emma allowed herself to be corralled into an interrogation room with the rest of her rag-tag group. She stole one last glance back at Spook as the gates descended behind them. She hoped despite all odds that he would be safe, but in the back of her head she knew that he would more then likely be dead soon. But she refused to let that thought surface above her sub-conscious, denying its very existence. But there was no more time to think about Spook, for no sooner then when they entered the room they were threatened. A tip of a bayonet was shoved into her chest, demanding her name and her weapons. She had a knife, which she reluctantly dropped, but no words came. The guards were shouting and threatening them and Emma was frozen.

Luckily Lily kept a cool head, speaking for the group. Emma was embarrassed by her inability to take action- it had caused so many problems for her so far and was continuing to do so. Meryn pleaded their case, doing her best to make the guards see they weren't the cause of their problem, but the guards were not listening. Emma didn't speak, but she emphatically nodded in agreement with Lily.

But suddenly none of that was important. The wood demons were moving from the forest and Emma could only hope Spook found some way out. But there was once again no time to worry about Spook. The door to the room they were in buckled under the force of the wood demons, threatening to break and let them in. Only moments before Lily was about to be knocked out by the ornery guard, which likely would have followed by the rest of them being executed- but now it appeared the attackers were their saving grace. The other guard shouted for the crowd outside to run, and Emma was inclined to do the same. He ran out the door, roughly shoving one of the city boys into Meryn. The other guard stood, protecting the door. Emma took her chance. She glanced at Lily and mouthed, "Let's get out of here." She turned for the door, making a mad dash for the city's interior. She stopped momentarily to collect the boy and Meryn, grabbing their hands and pulling them along with her.

The gears stopped turning, the voice stopped singing, the room stopped shaking, and Rose's banana peel was gone. She had been flung rather violently after that thing tried to enter her head, but she rose mostly unharmed.

She shot a glance at Rigby, "That's just not fair. You're going to owe me one of those kid." Rose said with a wicked grin.

All things considered Rose was taking these events rather well. The building around them was almost destroyed, several of the people around them just died, and an evil spirit claiming to be a God just tried to invade her body. Suffice to say most people would be severely unnerved by what was going on around them but Rose had been around the block a time or two during her time as a Witch. One of the unfortunate consequences of dark magic was that something like this happened every once in a while. She was familiar with creatures like the darkness before them: An upjumped demon or some other unsavory sort that thinks they can imitate a God and steal a mortal form in exchange for some vague promise. Of course there was always the cursory chance that it really was something as powerful as a God, but Rose didn't really consider that.

Rose gave the creature a mischievous look, "Maybe I'll consider it if you buy me dinner first? I'm sorry to tell you but you're not my first, I hope that's not a problem. There might even be another evil spirit rattling around my body as we speak, I hope you're okay with sharing." She dropped her smile. "I've made a deal like this before y'know. Usually these things don't shake out to well for us mortals. Sorry, but I think I'll take a pass, and I recommend the rest of you do as well. Rose's usual grin returned.

Rose wasn't the only one that remained oddly cheerful in spite of everything around them. One of the other girls, the redhead, maintained a similarly disarming grin, suggesting they leave. "Oooooo, I like you. I agree, it is in our best interest to get out of here as quickly as possible, although I'm not sure which way would be best. I'll leave it up to you three, but decide quickly." Rose's grin had maintained, of course.

Rose took her chance to sit back. She would observe them. It was important to know if they could be relied on and this dilemma would certainly show if they were capable. She took notice of the slight change in the redhead's appearance, her eyes subtly turning a shade of yellow as she fumbled for a pouch on her belt. For once she said nothing, deciding she would let them speak.

I actually didn't see that there was a post from you here, I thought we were still in limbo.

Whoops.
Does anyone else get busy and totally forget RPguild exists?

Expect a post soon.
Um, okay, er...

Human bone armor would be kind of useless, and... honestly this character is all over the place. Why does he have murderous urges? ^^; And... why would people want to associate with someone walking around wearing human bone armor? ^^;

Bone was actually pretty prominent as a material pre-Industrial Revolution. I think they've excavated suits of bone armor before iirc. As for why someone would hang out with a guy wearing human bones is a better question.

More people appeared. A couple agreed to her request for cooperation. Others stood silent, observing, unmoving. A voice came from the distance, remarking on Rose's anachronistic cheer. At least, to Rose it seemed a bit anachronistic, since it seemed the world had become so gloomy and ruined from her point of view. "I'm glad we're all... er, some of us are... well, I'm glad we're not killing each other, at the very least. Very productive in a room full of murder-" Before she could ramble off again she was interrupted by the squalling of a petulant child, screaming about food and challenging the collective group to a fight. Rose's face flushed with anger, "What a dreadful child you are. I don't like being interrupted, okay? Remember that. Don't interrupt me." She rummaged in her pockets. No food. Unless... do I still have it? Rose finally found what she was looking for, and produced, with perfect comedic timing, the peel of a banana. She supposed the stasis must of applied to it as well. This is absurdly ridiculous, that I've been left with this. A bit too convenient. She dangled it, glancing towards the boy. "I don't suppose you want to fight over this? Rose taunted the boy.

She started another sentence, but was once again interrupted. The very foundation of the prison shook, roofing fell in chunks, calamity was happening around them. And all at once it stopped and now the Stone was being rained on. Oh, the rain. I enjoy the rain. Rose thought to herself a very inconsequential though. And then a voice bellowed in the distance, demanding their identity. The voice echoed for a minute, and no one replied. Rose glanced around, deciding to venture a greeting.

"Uhhhhh... I'm Rose? Who might you be?"

She was still holding the banana peel which may well be thousands of years old.
Segi evaluated his party. The way the approached the situation really was very telling. From the hot headed mage eager to blow the entire tower down and the more practical ones setting to making a hole in a much more careful manner, he learned much about who to watch in their party. Of course their hot-headed leader also had some telling behavior- she stood back, managing, observing, criticizing. A leader, but not a very effective one? Not one to take action? Perhaps too soon to be said, but one thing was clear: She was quick to anger. It was all valuable information to the Inquisitor.

He shot a pointed glance at the mage. "That is not wise." The Paladin had already stepped in to intervene, "Miss Palayen is correct, although I wouldn't put it in such crude terms. You risk bringing the structure down, which would prove to be quite the obstruction."

As for the task at hand his own investigation had proved fruitful: As he tested the stones he found they had some give. A hole could certainly be made. His party also found a hole of their own, Segi observed as he wheeled around the tower to join the group. He peered in. It smelled of death. Not a good sign. He turned away before the warrior tossed in the torch. "I would not recommend this path. It stinks of undead. If I may venture, I noticed some of the stones were loose. It would be wiser to make a hole for ourselves, we just have to be careful, elsewise the tower may be destabilized."
Emma caught the compass, turning it over in her hands. It was old and strange and very mysterious. "Through insomnia's labyrinth, the fog and stones shine with the black second sight." The words echoed in her head as she stared at Spook in disbelief. Spook's last words? The robot demanded that they, and only they, move towards the wall. It pointedly demanded that they leave Spook. She was angry, angry at the metal machine for demanding they leave Spook. She wanted to rip the somehow smug radio from it's chassis. She was angry at the talking heads behind the radio. She was angry at Spook for even considering sitting here and dying. But, of course, she was really angry at herself. Angry at how helpless she was, angry that all she could do was leave him here, angry at herself and the others because she knew that they all had questioned him after what had happened in the forest but now he was going to die for them. It felt so unfair. The Traveler would perish for a bunch of pampered city folk that had no business being outside the walls of Enn?

But there was nothing she could do. She was weak. The robot was leaving, there would be no argument, he couldn't come with them. All she could do was say, "You better not die here," A sharp intake of breath came as she tried to choke words out, "It'd make me really mad... I don't know if I could forgive you." She didn't know if she could forgive herself. The words came out shaky. Tears were welling in her eyes. She didn't want any of this. She shoved the compass in her pocket, turning away towards the walled city.

She walked after the robot, towards those looming walls. She couldn't look back, because if she did she would really break down. She knew she was abandoning Spook. She knew he would die out here. She was so weak.
Ooooh, interesting. I'll make a post here (*cough* And in Unquiet hopefully) tomorrow.
Segi wasn't particularly excited to work with the Reonese Paladin, or any of the others that had composed their party. However it was necessity that he traveled with them; he had no allusions to his own skills. He would certainly perish if he undertook the inspection of the castle himself. The Church of Mayon had their own interest in the ruins: To ascertain if Haldric succeeded in his search for immortality, and eliminate him in the unlikely case that he did. Of course, even if Haldric had perished it would be a valuable public service to clear the ruins of any undead abominations. So the task was placed upon Segi, who was known in the Church for his great knowledge and skill. Segi, of course, didn't breath a word of his intents to his party. To them he would not be an Inquisitor of the Mayonites; instead he was merely an adventurer in search of some loot, not dissimilar to most of them. Perhaps, in time, he may trust the Paladin with his identity if she proved reliable, but for now it would remain a secret. Inquisitors had a dour reputation among the populace, seen as gloomy agents of divine justice.

Or something like that.

For the time being Segi would help his companions enter the castle. The Paladin was correct, of course. He had done his research into the building- the front door certainly wasn't the way to go in this situation. He cleared his throat, "If I might input, I would agree with Miss Olivie. There are other ways into the keep, judging by its inhabitants. However I do wish to echo some words of warning: this castle was as much a prison for its inhabitants as it was a fortress. It is unlikely that there will be an easy way to shut off the traps within, certainly not anything as simple as an 'off' switch. It is also unlikely we'll find something quite so easy as a back-path in, if the books are to be belived our King Haldric wouldn't have a safe path in our out- after all, it is called the Prison-Castle for a reason. Rats can find many ways in we won't be able to access- especially you, Miss Olivie," He said, the ghost of a bemused smirk on his face, "We could hope for another path in our a convenient hole in the wall, however if we do not find one there is another way in," Segi pointed up towards the crumbling tower, "Mister Valkanos' suggestion is a viable path in. If it comes to that I would volunteer myself for the task- I already know much of the mechanisms within and could make a try of clearing the path."

Segi stroked his whiskers, once again allowing a smirk to creep onto his face, "Of course the hole in the wall is preferred, so let's hope for that." He said, joining the others in the survey of the tower, running his hands across the stones of the building, hoping perhaps for some convenient hidden mechanism.
