@Grey I can sympathize, albeit for different reasons. *sigh*
Oh! Since Genkai is (presumably) busy dealing with her teaching-in-japan/foreign employment thing, do you want to RP a few out-take scenes? Maybe some interesting areas of our characters' background stories that would be fun to RP, but are out of the normal scope of the main plot?
Y'know just something to do while we wait for the IC to start. =o
@Genkai Take your time. Real life problems should be dealt with properly and with a measure of thoughtfulness.
Much love <3
P.S. If you try to apologize for making us wait or some other perceived trivial offense, I will reach through the internet and smack you. =P
@Genkai As it stands, I think we're nearly ready to start IC. Once we finish our characters, we should be able to jump right in. Is there anything else we need to cover before the IC starts? I'm drawing a blank, if there is.
I've had a similarly crazy few weeks. We deployed new servers at work, so we've been have to train all of our staff on how to use the new tools, when we only had one hour of exposure to it. Ugh. I'm helping my uncle manage my grandmother's estate, which is apparently a much bigger and more involved than I had ever imagined (holy fucknugget x-x) Bright side, I may get a house out of it. Down side, it may require tens of thousands of dollars to renovate, so it's luck of the draw for now. I've been coordinating with the city inspectors and the bank to get updated information on existing permits, labor estimates for the work needing to be done, and so on. I don't even know if its worth it to inherit this stupid house. :| [Insert 10 hour rant on more family-related shenanigans I keep getting roped into here...]
Every week I have at least two tests in school, which has been brutal to study for. Finals are in a few weeks, and along with another technical certification exam. I'm in 4 RPs (previously 8-9 of them), writing a Shadowrun adventure path for a friend, writing my own novel, still practicing japanese, and I just finished my taxes.
TL;DR - I can totally sympathize with frazzled. o.o
I'm like a shark. If I stop moving, I'll drown. xD
I would, however, like to formally congratulate on you getting your BA. I know that was something you've been working towards for a long time now!
Fair warning though: My friend's wife taught in Japan for a brief stint, she has some tragically funny stories about how those Japanese students sometimes have a really hard time grasping how to use things in unconventional ways. She tried a class activity once where they were to make tie-dyed shirts (paid for out of her own funds), but they flat out refused the idea saying you can't use a shirt that way and couldn't fathom why someone would want to. These were elementary school kids, I might add, and that's just one of a dozen anecdotes of similar events. You're mileage may vary, but it could happen. So clench your butt cheeks and prepare for some culture shock! xD
Whew!
Anyway, I need to finish writing my other characters sheets too, although I may have to put that off until Sunday. If you want to message me at all, I usually lurk in hangouts all day while I'm at work. My dept prefers it over the stupid in-house corporate teleconferencing software anyway. I may not be able to respond right away (for obvious reasons), but I shouldn't keep you waiting long. The work load for Friday-Sunday is pretty light. =]
@Grey Give it some thought. I don't need the information--regarding earned income from holdings--immediately. However, I would like to know before we start the IC. So you and @Genkai have plenty of time to mull it over, remain indecisive, forget about it, be reminded, and mull it over again. xD
@Genkai I forgot to mention that the cost/holding management sheet is completed. Just give me a guesstimated value of wealth/income that an average noble character typically has, then I can determine almost everything else from that.
Oh! I do have a couple of questions though... would any of the royal/noble characters currently in play have the loyalty of a particular domain or significantly influence the local authorities somewhere? Insofar as they can gather taxes? o.o Faye does not, but I don't know about you or @Grey.
Also, do any characters help administrate any religious institutions (i.e. churches, temples, shrines, etc)? Insofar as they have authority over the income generated from donations and paid healing services?
I have the rough domain structure of Hoshido and Nohr plotted out, so I just need to know who the major players are outside the named, canon characters. If none of our characters fit this bill (minus my merchant), don't worry about it. I have templates and pre-made NPC's to take care of that. =P
I'm in the middle of thursday night Pathfinder right now, but I'm working on that spreadsheet in between turns. I should have it done tonight. I just need to list the different canon kingdoms and "guesstimate" their holdings.
@Genkai You could play his personal aide. :3 Theomars is a merchant and former lord of Nesta. His caravans cross all borders and he manages an extensive network of contacts. However, only one person stands at his side on a regular basis: Vera, a blind wolfskin. She was originally bought as a slave on the market, but has since proven to be invaluable. With her enhanced senses, she makes an excellent lie detector and can tell the difference between coins with different gold content. Theomars officially adopted her and she remains fiercely loyal to him.
Erik, youngest son of the King's first wife, Grey's brother. He's an ambitious youth who, through his own actions on the field, has earned much respect from the wyvern knights and himself is a skilled rider. He and Faye shared a brief, but bitter rivalry for their brother's [Grey's] recognition. Faye won~
