Who knows, maybe some of these negatively aligned players may have a change of heart? Or vice-versa?
Maybe their moral compass has a more influence in their decisions once they realize that the MMO world is now reality?
@Spanner
I have a healthy fascination with Wild Magic as well. xD

IIRC, the dragon kingdoms were still mostly human, so I wonder how they'll respond to some of the players here (myself included) who are of a beastkin or heteromorphic race, given how they've been depicted in lore so far.

@Lugubrious
You really hit the nail on the head of what I want to see happen between the players. o.o

Though, to be honest, I'd also be just as interested in investigating what folktales and legends exist in this region that the players may not yet be aware of. 600 years is a long time, and we're fairly well removed from where E-Rantel and the other canon villages.

I'd imagine old stories about the Greed Kings and the hunting of the dragonlords in previous eras would still be lingering.
@everyone:
What are some elements of the Overlord setting, you would like to explore during play?
Perhaps some bit of lore that was only mentioned in passing.
Missed the Int Check, but I'd definitely like to play.
@The Bork Lazer
Something to be considered for later:

If the goal is to simply get through the dialogue in a reasonable time frame, then doing a collaboration post might be ideal. You just open an etherpad (or some similar, web-based, group notepad) that everyone can freely edit and add to. Then someone just posts the wall of dialogue and everyone can move on.

It useful for condensing all the short responses from all participants of a conversation into one stream of text that flows more naturally.

You could use it for other things too actually...

Anyway, it may be of use to us here, if everyone is willing to try it.
Is the posting order necessary at the moment?

I don't know...
Maybe its just me, but while it seems fair to use for exploration or combat scenes, it seems like an awkward restriction to impose on scenes that are just dialogue (like now).

Perna Rockwood

Everyone has something they're good at it. Some folks are good at cooking, others at math or sports. Some are social butterflies who could flutter from person to person, group to group effortlessly like its part of their nature. Perna had always wanted to be like that. She believed she could be. It didn't seem like baseless confidence to her, but fact-a universal truth no amount of cold logic could refute. Never did she think that reality would so brutally reveal how inept she really was.

Absol stalking you in the night? Easy.
Ambushed by angry Diglets? Cakewalk.
Encounter with a momma Ursaring and her cub? Minor nuisance.
Dealing with other people? Run.

Dealing with people took finesse, wits, and luck! Perna felt that she lacked all three. Even after living in Saffron for so long, she thought she would get used to the big crowds. In fact, she believed she had, but leaving one's comfort zone is, by definition, uncomfortable. The people in Pallet town were nice enough, and reminded her of the rustic small-town culture she had left behind. But this wasn't the city she knew, or the farm she grew up on. They locals were pleasant to talk to on their own, but this graduation festival attracted a horde of nosy tourists and visitors. One-on-one Perna was a brilliant conversationalist, and this left her with an inflated sense of competency, but as the town amassed more and more people for the event, the more she began to realize how little experience she had in handling large crowds. A rising anxiety slowly whittled away her self-confidence. Trying to mingle with dozens of new people felt like some kind of new marathon she was wholly unprepared for. The fog of mental fatigue crept in as new names and new faces blurred together into one indistinct jumble of memories.

That's why she had been spending some time quietly recuperating near Willis, who also seemed to be avoiding the crowds. She guessed he was ex-military right away. They stood out in a crowd. Their posture always seemed uncomfortably straight like someone had glued a long metal beam to their spine. The two didn't exchange words or glances, keeping to themselves. Brutus, who had been lying contentedly at the foot of another pillar, served as Perna's personal backrest, one that was sheathed in well-groomed, brown fur and sported curved horns. Originally, Perna had wore her periwinkle blue sundress and large straw hat to fit in with the locals and appear more approachable, but thankfully her tauros was doing a fantastic job of looking grouchy and generally intimidating. A bright neon sign spelling out "Fuck off!" might as well have been floating above his head.

Few people had ventured to this side of the room so far, so she guessed it was a safe place to sit down and reasonably expect not to be bothered for awhile, perhaps even until the ceremony began. She was wrong, of course. She hadn't even finished reading her second letter before the other trainers started to approach. Two girls, at first: one overdressed, and the other seemed overprotective. Then another girl with a practiced poise arrived, shortly followed by talkative, scrappy-looking kid.

Seriously? What's with all the attention? Is this ex-military guy some big-shot I don't know about?

Perna spared them a furtive glance, and returned her attention to reading her letters. They had always been useful as a cathartic distraction and this time was no different. Besides, Doctor Frida's ramblings about strange ruins on the far side of the world, and her professional fascination with them as an anthropologist, seemed much more appealing at the moment.
Work has been particularly unkind, but I should have a post up later this evening.
@Natascha
I will sadly be withdrawing my interest for the time being.

Things worked out with another player. :P

Physical Description:
Standing nearly a head taller than the other girls her age, Perna is quite tall. Considering her own mother is an inch taller, it seems she still has room to grow. Her hands are rougher and harder from working long days in the family orchard. Her hair is a long tangle of ginger red rivulets, which she keeps secured in a pragmatic braid. Subtle freckles dust her shoulders and the bridge of her nose. Her pale skin is tinted red, and darkens a few shades in anticipation, if she spends more than half an hour in the sun. Her almost regal features and ample proportions belie the hardy and powerful frame of a natural athlete.

History:
The rolling foothills south of Mt. Moon flatten into fertile steppes until the horizon is finally overrun by the edge of a nameless forest. Perna was born to a rancher family that claimed much of these lands, raising tauros as cattle and importing miltanks from Johto to maintain a breeding stock. Her mother maintained an orange tree orchard and coaxed the local pokemon to make her honey. Her brother was a knocker. Brutal business really, but without him the tauros steaks wouldn't make it to the big cities and onto the porcelain plates of rich city folk. Her father was part of an old breed of cowboys and ranchers. He came from a long line of ranchers, his father and his father's father before him and so on. It was the life her brother intended to carry on, when their father retired.

Perna wanted none of it.

Unfortunately for her family, Perna was an ambitious little girl. She dreamed of making it big and becoming famous, enjoying the attention of a world audience like the people on TV. Growing up on the ranch was a firm and persistent reminder that she wouldn't be able to do any of it. If her family had their way, she would be tending to the orange blossoms and cutting herself on the thorns well into her seventies.

She took every opportunity to leave the ranch. The moment her chores were done, she wander around the outskirts of the Rockwood property. She never wandered too far though. She knew the dangers of the nearby forest and distant mountain paths better than most her age. Only when she could sneak away with one of her father's rifles, would she try something like that.

Not content to stay home and "mind the cattle" or "tend to the garden", anytime they went to the market or travelled to the city, Perna would go with them. Over the years, she exchanged letters with a wide variety of characters she had met at the farmer's markets or friends she made in the city. Some kept up with her regularly, others sent the occasional holiday greeting, but nothing more. One went on to become a game warden for the Safari Zone down south. Another became a geologist for the Mt. Moon Surveyors team. A few she lost contact with entirely.

Given that the ranch is too far away for video chats to work, she's become all too familiar with carrier pidgeys.

Perna made a point to learn as much about the world outside as she could from her myriad penpals. The homeschool ciriculum did little to satisfy her curiosity.

When she was fifteen she convinced her parents to let her live with her aunt and uncle in Saffron City. She had promised to return when she finished school, but Perna knew it was a lie from the start. Her childhood dream of becoming a celebrity had all but died, yet she stilled wanted to travel and explore. She enrolled in school and minded her studies, but went on very long walks and studiously observed the sights, sounds, and happenings of neighborhood.

Her chance encounter with an off-duty Pokemon League registrar opened the door for her to start travelling and leave her old life behind.

Exam Proctor Report:
"Applicant 141727, Perna Rockwood, has shown an unexpected strength and tenacity in the physical examination portion of the exam, setting a record for her demographic category. During the standard endurance test for her age group, she was noted to complete the 2 kilometer track run four consecutive times. Were it not for the lead proctor's intervention, it is likely she might have continued. Aside from physical exhaustion, the medical response team saw no threat to her health.
Her written exams scores demonstrate a below average knowledge base for a girl of her age, though she still managed to achieve a passing grade. Her academic ability remains consistent with expectations given her provincial, family education. Despite her poor marks in other areas, she did receive one of the highest scores in the Wilderness Survival section, which was a mitigating factor."

Species Recognition: 73%
League Code: 65%
Wilderness Survival: 94%
Situation Recognition: 81%

Physical Aptitude: 9 out of 10
Reaction Time: 7 out of 10
Mental temperament: 7 out of 10

Confirmation of Starter Pokemon: Brutus - Tauros
Brutus is the largest of the steers on the Rockwood family ranch; Perna stole him so she could get her trainer's license. He's fairly calm for a tauros, though a bit aged and ornery. His temperament is closer that of a stubborn mule than a raging bull.
