"Alright, this semester's standards will go over what again?" (Neutral)

"Alexandria", ever since she was dropped off at the Academy's doorstep at the age of 12, has been living in the Academy as a stay-in scholar. She came to be like so ever since she moved from Rexicorg, after her family sold off the majority of the discovered relics inside so that they (as nomads) could at least send one of their children to the Academy, and perhaps make enough money to bring in the rest of the family. When she was found with the billing receipt that would pay for her tuition and lodgings (actually, double), she was quietly shuffled into the rest of the studious scholars at the Academy, christened "Alexandria" for the sake of avoiding attention.

Skip five years later, and Alexandria has taken many, many steps ahead to try and secure a job that pays well enough. With the onset of conflict and strife just upon the horizon, she's taken a preference towards technological research. As of now, Alexandria is fairly new to using her tome, and has yet to use it even proficiently.

As a result of being raised in the valley of Rexicorg, though, she has grown up to be a rather curious person, both in the way she may appear to others, as well as the way everything appears to her. Her questions come in many shapes and sizes, though they all seem intent to uncover not the personality, likes, and dislikes of her peers, but rather what they know in relation to her. She enjoys logical enigmas and a variety of wondrous conundrums, almost akin to the mazes that she used to crawl about in when she was younger, all for the prize of hidden knowledge being re-discovered by her own two eyes. As such, learning seems to be her greatest challenge yet, and the prize seems just as similar as the ones she raced around for in Rexicorg's mazes : knowledge. After all, knowledge in this world could equate to oh-so much power. And she wouldn't even have to raise a fist to anyone if she had enough of it...or so she thinks.

Underneath that bubbly nature, there's only a thin layer of patience for all things stupid. Break that layer, and you'll find a very blunt, goal-oriented girl who can only know success or death, the very same one that survived the Rexicorg labyrinth with the wisdom in mind that the world is a very, very cruel place.

Pandora

Alexandria's tome takes the form of a scroll with a flat-black finish, scored with a single line of gold. Upon activating, it becomes a 6-foot staff with golden engravings, but retains its weight as though it were still a scroll.

Pandora is a tricky sort of tome, as its theory is based in Alexandria's experiences in the Rexicorg Labyrinth, where walls seem to shift, and little to no progress is made despite the earnest journeys. In fact, the lure of the labyrinth had led to many of their deaths, and so the lesson (and ultimately, her thesis) goes for Alexandria...

"Curiosity is...the first passion and the last."

To physically manifest this, Alexandria can teleport from one end of her staff to the other (which isn't a terribly great length, but it does lend itself to creativity) as a way to exhibit such a passion.

Alternatively, when in the scroll form, she can focus or deflect attention from her, though she has yet to bring this into a physical form where she can "attract" or "repel" an object, so long as she has a sight on them. She can only repel attention so long as she's behind another person or an object of extreme interest (might one say an incoming projectile, some valuable jewelry, etc.?), and attract attention so long as she's within a person's vision.

Provided she can increase her understanding of her thesis, she may be able to extend these abilities in different forms and ranges. It all comes with practice.

Wind rushed down the corridor, tickling Alexandria's spine with a rush. Her ears pounded with blood; her breathing was as deep as the enigma that was Rexicorg. Sweat sprang up from every pore of her body, tickling the goosebumps with caresses of the cold evening air. The dry walls of stone beckoned for her to go ever deeper into the unknown.

The dimness of the the maze sought to swallow her in its bowels, to consume one of countless children that had neglected to remember each etching of stone, each bark of a tree, each little crack on the earth beneath.

Even after all of this, there would be times when the walls seemed to be a little tighter than usual, when the turns didn't fell all quite the same, when the tiles seemed to slump under a feather's touch.

That's why she had a staff in her hand. It, among everything else within the maze's walls, was the only real thing that maintained consistency in a place like Rexicorg. No sentry, no monster, not even the incline of the valley itself could be trusted; it was too steep to navigate, and its arms rose into canyon walls that forbade the stars from advising. Ironic that something as fickle and ever-changing as Nature could hold some semblance of stasis, isn't it?

When she stepped the thousand steps she could step, there came the soft whispers. Those were certainly new. Light cascaded along her backside, as though the sun was rising when it had yet to set.

*Pit pat pit pat pit pat*

The rush of feet on rain; a sound unheard of for Alexandria.

*Clop clop clop clop...

There, a trotting horse. A flash of gold, and the rider and its steed run out the corner of her eye.

*SSSssssshPAP!*

Alexandria straightened up in a flinch as her roommate almost slammed the window down to block the incoming rain. This afternoon was the second day the young girl was brought into the Academy, and already her ears had been constantly assaulted by the sounds of the bustling institution. Over her face, drops of the 6 o'clock sunlight bled their last hues of gold and crimson as the shadow of the rainfall stained the glass panes. The girl, then 12 years of age, winced as her brows were chafed by the dazzling array, but all at once her sight was scintillated by the goodwill and grace of the clouds.

"Oi, almost dinnertime! F'ya liked yesterday's grub, today'll be tons better. Come come!"

Standing right in front of her was the daughter of the cotton baron of the floating isles : Olivia Luxembourg.

Standing at 5'7, sporting carrot-orange hair and freckles aplenty on that fair complexion of hers, she could be seen to be anything but. And in fact, she behaved as if she really was anything but. Those lime-green eyes of her spoke volumes of tales and adventures she had miles above the Earth, but regardless of that and her lineage, she always insisted for Alexandria to call her Ollie.

Right, her roommate : Ollie. One would guess she lived in the country, and to an extent, that was true.

Her accent was fairly unique. Not everyone spoke it, but suppose one's entire life was spent in the company of constantly drunk uncles, fathers, and cousins mixed in with the pampered daughters of wealthy Imperium merchants, of course one would speak the vernacular well.

Alexandria flipped over her blankets, and hurriedly slipped on her leggings, skirt, blouse, and shoes. To fit the autumn season, this semester's uniforms were a dazzling array of browns, oranges, yellows, and scarlets. At least, for the first-years. The clothing was all too big for her anyways, so it was really a wonder at all that the tailor could fit an outfit onto a girl like Alexandria.

"'Ey, ya forgot your bed. At least cover the pillows!"

With a grunt, the 5-foot girl spun around and flapped the blankets once, before taking her ribbon out from underneath the pillow. One grab, a pull, and a tie...there, done!

"So...what do they serve at the Academy, usually?"

Her hands spread the cotton flat.

"Besides what you've had yesterday, they'll be bringing in tons of poultry! Last I heard, we had chickens, cornish hens, turkeys..."

Ollie twisted side to side, cracking her back as she was doing so.

"Goats? Do they serve goat meat?"

Ollie snapped hard, making one final crack.

"Goats? Um...not that I've 'eard of. That's a first outta anybody in the Academy."

The two girls moved closer to each other, and faced the door. Alexandria's arms wrapped around Ollie's left arm, and her entire body followed soon after.

"I know a good recipe..."

"And I'll be the judge o' that, Ms. Bastam! When you get old enough, ya outta teach me!"

The only imprint they left were the tussled beds and the door's slam.

And sea of students flooding in could not be trusted. Alexandria clung tighter to Olivia's sturdy, strong arm. She could trust her.

Emmaline broke a sweat, and this time not from her suit. With a glance down back at her lance sitting inside the APC, the young lady shifted in her seat for comfort, before pointing the machinegun down the tank's way. As the gunner, she was supposed to be looking for soft targets...maybe? If that was the case, they could be from anywhere, hiding in any part of the thick foliage.

"Hey Sarge, it could be leftovers from when the Army and regular Militia was retreating. We didn't exactly have time to grab everything on the way out."

Who said that? Regardless, while it did seem like a very possible event, but considering how quiet things were, and the fact that the outpost she had just visited prior was attacked, an ambush just felt about ready to spring out. And if things had the risk of involving vehicular combat, shouldn't at least one of the lancers be out?

Well, then if she was out, the Sergeant would have to be the gunner. Easy pickings for a sniper...or the tank that may have very well been commandeered by the enemy.

Personality:

Theresa, before she ever had to man her first NC at the age of 17, was more of a pacifist. Today, this holds more or less against her later lifestyle as a rookie bounty hunter, hunting smaller bandit parties for capture or elimination. As such, she's had to adjust to being impersonal to many adversaries, though she isn't above kneeling down and begging for forgiveness in the face of overwhelming odds. A coward, but nevertheless a human wanting only peace.

Tactical Preference/Skills:

Theresa, back in her bounty hunting days, often was compared to a cat because of how she used her Kunai frame as a quadrapedal animal, much less a bipedal soldier. Her specialty was in close quarters, where she could've disrupted enemy tanks and other vehicles by simply sweeping them off their feet, making for an easy capture. The same holds very true today, where she works as sort of a rescue-dog NC paid to escort and retrieve an unfortunate soul to the highest bidder. Not that many bid for such a thing; few people ever anticipate losing in their NCs, much less losing the NC altogether. Still, some companies like Red-Star and Volkov pay for salvaged good whenever possible, so Theresa has built her Kunai for speed and joint strength to heave such loads.

Just as easily, though, she might be able to lock an enemy NC the same way a human would to another via armbars, guillotine locks, etc. It all depends on closing the distance safely.

She's fairly adept at field surgery for humans, but repairing an NC on-field is unheard of. Still, she's got the knack for engineering, so if she could find a way to at least cauterize some wounds or weld some scrap metal back on temporarily...

Appearance:

Your standard Kunai frame, outfitted with custom joints and cleated feet for extra traction. Its head section is made entirely of a metal framework, providing no physical means to directly look outside. It also has a thin, lengthy tail to provide balance.

Body-Plan:

Based off of the Kunai frame, the Retriever is by design made to move bipedally, but can adjust to travel on all fours to increase speed by re-locating joint pieces. The Retriever sports a tail that can sprout from the spine to provide balance via leverage. All weapon holsters have been torn off for aerodynamics and weight distribution, save for a deployable module at the wrist.

Equipment:

The head is designed to use a camera with multi-functional lenses, including thermal vision, infrared vision, and magnetic vision to identify targets under various weather and time conditions. The cockpit is seated below the nape, and dismounts are made by opening the nape.

The retriever is outfitted with various magnets along its spine to carry another NC at higher speeds without the risk of accidental dismounting, as well as other metallic pieces.

At the base of its spine, a retractable tail is stored. It is as long as the Retriever's legs.

Armaments:

A retractable plasma blade at the right wrist. Its farthest reach goes only to where the fingertips would be.
