Scenario A:

Scenario B:

Which Scenario is this really?
Also. I just now learned that hiders have a limit. #TheMoreYouKnow

I discussed allowing donations as a means to turn off ads a few pages back. No one responded to it yet.

Random idea: How 'bout we add '# of times read'? That way we can see if the problem is no advertising or something of that nature, or people read it and then are turned away?

Read times are disingenuous. It's just counting page views, which could be the author refreshing (maybe they're editing), or several people viewing the topic many times. It can also be search bots/spiders crawling the forum and indexing pages. It really doesn't give you a good sample of whether a topic has been well-read or not.

If you're allowing links in the status updates, can you restrict it to people who have X number of posts (like 5)? I'd hate to see spambots use it as a new vector for attack.

Nothing, really. But that's not stopping people from doing that now. Requiring X number of RPs participated in before joining. albeit I have seen anyone doing that so I'm assuming its safe. GMs would harm themselves more doing that anyway.

ruby. scratch what I said. hahaha.

Mahz they are, but these could help them survive, or even be given out at a death.

This would be much easier to do once (if) Mahz makes his roleplayer "resume" as it were. The formal system of making and linking characters to different RPs. Which I'm very excited for.

I remember telling a guy to just start fresh after a really ugly thread in RP Discussion and a mod at the time was like, "ALTS ARE VERBOTEN!" and I was like, "That sucks for him." Fun times. ;)

Yeah, hard to really police when free emails and dynamic IPs exist, not to mention VPNs. Might as well just let people have their anonymity so long as they're not rabblerousing or violating rules.

I have zero issues with obscenity and the Guild is unrestricted by our personal limits as staff. I'm not even sure I have any. My goal for the Guild is for people to do as they please and to set boundaries that are optimal for the most amount of people.

As long as it keeps you safe and the Guild running, I'm in favor. I like most of these ideas.

Don't you know? People here love discussing to death features that have barely made it to the drawing board, let alone to the coding stage...

*giggles like a schoolgirl* It's funny 'cause it's true.

@Ellri age of consent doesn't matter for online depictions of the act, your arguing is futile. What matters is age of majority and laws surrounding erotica.

Pertinent sections;

Thank you for not putting us on any sex offender's lists in advance.

Reading erotica isn't sexual activity, HeySeuss. You should look into obscenity laws instead.
In Mahz's Dev Journal 10 yrs ago Forum: News
true, Jordan.

We personally feel that sexual age of consent shouldn't be a static number, but based on age discrepancy. Something like this:
50+: ±15
30-49: ±10
20-29: ±5
12-19: ±3

so long as there's a clear set of rules here, we don't really care overmuch what the relevant number(s) is(are).

Are you talking about RP or real life?
In Mahz's Dev Journal 10 yrs ago Forum: News
Indeed. As it should be. But if you are doing an RP centered around some type of raids and you want to highlight the fact that the raiders don't care overmuch about the age of their "playmates", then simply say so, just don't describe it. Use it as a vague tool to inspire the raiders' opponents to go do what they need to do to stop the raiders.

On the racism note, its fairly easy to avoid that. Speciesism is far more fun. Instead of the black fighting the white, they team up against the green.

EDIT:
Huh. We were curious, so we looked it up:

Be mindful that while the age of consent is sometimes 16, many of the states have additional requirements that the partner be of the same age, or still under 18. So a 16+16 is fine, 16+17 is fine, but 15(or under)+16 and 16+18(and over) is not. There's some fudging and some lack of enforcement depending on the graces of the DA, and sometimes the upper age limit is 19 for a 17 year old, but basically the age of consent under 18 generally only applies when the partner is also under 18.

But @LegendBegins is correct about the actual text description of acts. That doesn't meant this site has to allow carte blanche under US law, it can devise its own rules. Rulebreaking, like HeySeuss noted, is likely to occur in private 1x1s and PMs regardless of what rules are in place.

I'm aware, but In reality, I only asked because I wanted to know whether or not it was an option for the Guild. I should have asked differently, though, since it does take hardly any code to do so.

Curiosity's sake. Applets can be useful; of course, they're regressing toward being obsolete, but they can still be handy.

Most anything you can do with applets, you can do with some other scripting language. Seriously.

The kinds of problems and security concerns that java applets open up is way too costly for whatever unique properties they posses.
