Mind only triggering that when the character count breaches 90k?

Good idea. Making it kick in at 75% of upper bound would be a good solution.

That can be blamed on Advanced still recovering from the participant-loss from guildfall and the past year. Given the right setting, mindset and RP, we could probably easily reach that limit, mahz.

With fewer advanced players, it simply takes longer between each such IC post appearing.

Right, I'm not saying the 150k limit is too high. Just noticed how much people like to hit it with garbage.

Either way, it's not a big deal. 150kb of "" compresses to like 12 characters in the database.

Easiest solution to that? Delete the spam section.

Second easiest? Put a restriction on smiley count per post, say 20-30.

More challenging solution? Restrict post lengths in sections like spam.

Bad solution? Make it take extra DB space so you'll notice it better.

Deleting spam will release the spammers upon the rest of the Guild, similar to destroying a wasps nest.

Quick question: does the guild currently support Java Applet integration into its code?

@LegendBegins Integrating an applet into html is trivial. But why would that be useful, or even necessary?

Could I embed Java Applets? Sure.

They wouldn't run on [most] mobile devices nor many desktop browsers and I haven't seen one since 2006, but I could.

Why?

I'm aware, but In reality, I only asked because I wanted to know whether or not it was an option for the Guild. I should have asked differently, though, since it does take hardly any code to do so.

Curiosity's sake. Applets can be useful; of course, they're regressing toward being obsolete, but they can still be handy.

Most anything you can do with applets, you can do with some other scripting language. Seriously.

The kinds of problems and security concerns that java applets open up is way too costly for whatever unique properties they posses.

The only things I'd consider embedding are some select flash games. It's a silly feature, but as a competitive person, I'd be interested in an arcade built by embedding some flash games that have a score API that I can integrate into the Guild.

This weekend I will work on a basic trophy system that I'll be using to award the contest winner since that contest just closed.

Not a hard feature, so I'd also like to get some other smaller features done like a status system, finally.

Maybe I'll have time to implement the opt-in "adult/mature" RP system, too.

'Twas only a curiosity. Though Java itself is a very versatile language.

Is it possible an adult RP section will damage ad revenue?

I'm not sure if this has been said before or mentioned, but there happens to be a minor problem regarding the subscriptions.

When I unsubscribe a topic from the subscription page, it redirects me to a "Not Found" page, and it's because the url had been redirected as "www.roleplayerguild.com/me/subcriptions" instead.

It's not that big of a problem, but I ought to point it out anyways. ^^'

Oh man, I'll fix that right now. Thanks! I'd consider it a big problem because that's super annoying.

Edit: Should be fixed in about 30 seconds.

We didn’t say that was the best solution... Only the easiest. Considering that mahz considers it a non-issue, the point is slightly moot.

We see two effects possible and probable of such deletion... Either everywhere else is plagued by that crowd, or a good portion of them disappear from the guild. Neither of them benefit the guild, really. Some might say that the loss wouldn't be bad, but we believe Mahz would not agree with that sentiment.

If anything, the other two solutions (even we don't consider #4 a solution) would be far better for the minor inconvenience this issue presents.

Hello there! I have an issue with the PM system in that you can't add any extra people into it once it's been made.

Currently I'm collabing for reasons and I just realized we needed another guy in that wasn't already there. But there doesn't seem to be any way to do that besides starting a new PM with all the relevant members included.

It's not much of a problem, as I could just copy the raws from all the posts in the other PM thread but that might get annoying for some people with big PM threads

Guild's gettin' nice and Polish, rad balls man. But, regarding the rating stuff, I personally am not all that sure about jamming a bunch of them in, especially with the way they're presented now.

I mean, I get that it's all the rage these days, but can't you just post and say "Wow, you're a really stand up guy!" instead of having an upvote system?

That's just my opinion, though.

Finally, when trying to debug a search issue last week, I noticed that 100% of all posts with a length between 90k and 150k characters (the upper limit) were pure spam.
Well, I haven't tried to post any nation or non-minimal character sheet during the past two weeks... I will kill almost any character limit if I try to make sheets...
(On the second note, almost all of my RPing seems to be have been done in PM since Guildfall...)

@RoflsMazoy: Adding (and removing) people to (from) PM conversations is not currently possible, but I recall Mahz saying it is planned.

I am of the agreement that added upvote and or downvote, as well as other rating systems aren't really all that needed. The "Like", "Laugh" and "Thank" are sufficient as it stands, as there's no real reason not to post, short of just agreeing that someone either said it best, got one to laugh, or deserved a modest thanks and acknowledgment.

Carrying on, adding or removing individuals from Private Messages would be a welcome addition for "behind the scenes" on-site sort of planning.
