Leo watched as Sam and the young girl Ash disappeared into his small room. It wasn't much but it was his, at least it had been. For the next twenty four hours at least, Ash would have the run of it just to make sure she wasn't going to turn. There was always a risk involved with people coming to the cabin but he wasn't prepared to have the girl tied up. If she turned she'd be locked in the room and given her size, she wouldn't be hard to deal with. He had broken protocol, pissed people off and probably scared a few others with how he reacted but it was done with now. He just had to show that the right decision was made.

As the door shut behind the pair Leo pulled up a nearby chair and took a seat. He could hear shuffling and voices for a few minutes before they stopped, presumably to whisper between themselves. That silence was soon broken by the sound of an engine starting out of the front of the cabin. Leo shot up from his chair to the nearest window he could find and watched as the tail end of the explorer disappeared behind the trees. He didn't know for sure who it was but he presumed it was likely Conrad given his affinity for it.

Returning back to the chair he approached his bedroom door and knocked on it. "Hey...are you all done?"

The room was barely lit but for the light of a few well melted candles. Shadows moved and morphed with the flickering of the small flames scattered on the floor around Leolion. The visitor from another world had been in the Tower for little over three years and it was still something he detested. He was used to lushous trees and plants of every colour, waves of primordial magic floating on a gentle breeze and the sounds of animals as they called out to the warmth of the sun. His room was far from being that. A minimilists dream with a modern touch that was as far from what he was used to growing up. What little he could do to bring comfort he did, opting for candle light over the fluorescent tubes that were installed in every room. Candles were much closer to the magical infused lanterns of home and brought a small sliver of peace to his sorrow. The park was somewhere he frequented but only when the majority of heroes were deep in slumber. He didn't mix well with some of the more egotistical guests in the Tower.

After a couple of hours of sitting silent and dreaming of home, Leo found himself disturbed by the activation of his rooms fluorescent lighting. He let out an audible groan from the depths of his throat as his peace was further interrupted by a voice. Epsilon and Omicron teams, report to the briefing room immediately. I repeat, Epsilon and Omicron teams to the briefing room. As the voice disappeared Leolin rose to his feet and stretched his arms out wide, 'Time for work...'

In his heart Leo knew the work he did helped those who couldn't defend themselves, but the tug of wonder about the situation on his homeworld was a permanent distraction. He would haved happily helped those on Earth of his own volition after his arrival. Instead he was forcefully conscripted into the band of superpowered people locked away in the tower, given minimal freedom with the threat of destroying his only way home. He was stuck and New Horizon knew that, it was what they excelled at. They knew how to get leverage over people and on the rare occasion they couldn't, an explosive implanted at the base of the neck proved helpful in getting people on side.

Leo left his room and made straight for the stairs. His room was only two floors above the meeting rooms level so he often took the stairs, finding the elevator wasteful and lazy. As he descended the stairs he saw the familiar appearance of Ka'van float down through the gap between the railings, something he had observed him do plenty of times before. It was something Leolin was incapable of doing but he wasn't concerned, he had his own talents. Unfortunately for him New Horizon kept them subdued, not allowing him to meditate as regularly as he needed to keep them effective. However with this impending mission, he'd be allowed to meditate freely, restoring his powers to their maximum level.

Eventually Leolin reached the briefing room to see Ka'van amongst a couple of other heroes, a suited man stood impatiently at the far end of a table. He cast Ka'van a glance and a nod, while paying nobody else any mind. Of the people he had met since being on Earth, Ka'van was the most like Leolin. When looking at the half demon Leo saw a kindred spirit, someone who wanted nothing more than to return home. It didn't matter what they wanted though, they were bound to New Horizon like everyone else in the Tower. Soon enough the room filled and the presentation began.

It looks okay

Ok cheers. I'll get it finished when I wake up tomorrow.
Just thought i'd post this. I'll look at finishing it all off tomorrow but if you could let me know about the powers then it'd be appreciated.

I must do whatever I can to keep her safe...

Leo sidestepped and watched as the deer dropped next to him, the thud echoing throughout the cabin. The words that left Conrad's mouth were ignored bluntly. "Seems you've dropped something cunt." The anger in his eyes hadn't subsided and it wasnt going to. Around the room others decided to pipe up but it was all white noise, that was until her heard a voice.

"Hey! Th-that's mine!"

The soft but stern tone of the voice was enough to snap Leo back into the room, it was the little girl. She had woken from her slumber and was determined to get her bag back.

Leo decided to act once more and moved across the room towards Jorel with a clear purpose in his mind. He took a grip on the girls bag and looked Jorel square in the eye with a deep sincerity. Then in a much calmer and muted voice than previously said, "Look, just let me do this...trust me." Jorel took a moment before letting the bag go, leaving Sully to pack everything back in hurriedly. After putting in what was in his line of sight, Leo turned to walk back towards the girl. He was stopped by a hand on his his shoulder.

"Alright, mate, but I was just about to give it back anyway." Jorel had stood up and lightly grabbed Leo's shoulder, holding out the photo. "Those pitons and rope on the floor are hers, too." Leo took the photo from Jorel's hand and looked down at it, staring at it for a few minutes. He looked back up at Jorel giving him a nod of thanks before packing the picture and other few bits on the floor into the bag.

While Sully had gone to reclaim the girls bag, her own attempt to reclaim her belongings had caught Brooklyn's attention and the woman was soon crossing the room towards her. She gently put her hand on the girls head and began to talk to her, it was a very uncomfortable moment for most watching her seemingly trying to mother the girl, especially after what she had been through.

Jorel blinked twice at Brooklyn, who looked around the room hopefully. He had lost words, but after a couple seconds, he spoke. "... What the fuck?"

For a moment Ash blinked in surprise and was still. Not from the stern words of the older girl. No the, admittedly almost motherly, tone she took hardly affected her. It was the shock that she had suddenly tapped her on the head and then grabbed her chin. For another moment she sat there in a kind of stunned stillness. Before she lashed out, jerking her face from the woman's grasp and rocking back before striking out with her feet and kicked her as hard as she was able in the face.

"Don't touch me!" The young girl spat, glaring angrily at the blonde before her.

"Here you go. My name is Leo." Leo squatted next to the girl placing her bag directly next to her. His demeanour had completely changed from the ruckus moments earlier but with the girl being awake changed things. "Everything is in there." The look on his face was one of reassurance and warmth, he needed her to believe what he was saying.

"I know this must be scary for you, even after everything you've been through to survive. You'll be safe with us here, we're not going to let anything happen to you. I promise." He turned and glanced to his room before turning back to the girl. "We should probably look at getting you into bed to warm up, we don't want you to get sick. Would it be ok to put you into bed? Sam here can help get you ready." After what just happened with Brooklyn it made sense that only Sam deal with her.

Sully looked around the room at everyone with his next sentence, reiterating what he had said to them all earlier. "I'll stay by the door the entire time and make sure you're safe." Casting his glance back to the girl one last time he asked her, "So would it be ok to put you to bed?"

Some people cannot be saved...
The weather was something that Leo revelled in, brought up in the wonderfully wet and cold British Isles. While snow was a bit more of a rarity in Britain, he thoroughly preferred the winter cold to the summer heat. He scoured the area around him repeatedly with each footstep, keeping an eye out for any shambling undead that may be roaming too close too their cabin. He rarely ventured much further than ten minutes walk away from the cabin doing his rounds, only going further for supply runs.

It had been a fairly uneventful couple of months since arriving at the cabin, barring the occassional lone biter that avoided the traps, there was nothing of note that really required any particular skill from himself. That was a good thing, he kept reminding himself that the less he had to do, the safer it meant the group was. He didn't have an itchy trigger finger by any means, but with the way the world was now, there was something about the peace that made him very uncomfortable.

The peace was soon broken though as Brooklyn's voice echoed through the trees. He couldn't hear what she was saying but she was shouting loud enough that it travelled to him. 'Shit...' Leo muttered to himself. He turned back up hill and broke into a quick sprint, keeping his HK416 close to his chest. He had kept in good shape throughout the downfall, he had needed to to survive. It made getting up the hill, even with the snow, quite easy.

As he reached the cabin the door was shut and he could hear voices inside. He quickly looked at the surrounding area and couldn't see much other than the footprints of his fellow survivors. Leo slung his weapon over his shoulder, instead putting a hand on the pistol in his holster. He cautiously opened the door to see the group scattered around the room.

"Hey...what's goi..." before he finished his sentence, his thick Welsh accent faded away. His eyes caught sight of a young girl on the floor. At one end of her was Jorel binding her hands, the other end was Sam, she was crouched down at the girls feet. "Jesus Christ!" The sincere anger in Leo's voice transcended the look of horror on his face. He leapt across the room barging the pair away from the girl, his hand still firmly placed on his sidearm. "What the hell are you doing? She's a fucking child!"

He knew what the agreed procedure was, check for bites and then keep them bound up until the group can be sure that they are alright. This time the rule sat very uncomfortably in Leo's stomach. She was a child, small enough that a firm kick would send her half way across the room. If she did turn, she'd be little to no trouble to deal with. There was no way he was letting her be tied up. Pre-empting their protests he spoke, "She can go in my room and use my bed. I'll lock the door from the outside and keep watch until she wakes up. If she isn't going to turn, do you really want her waking up bound and gagged? The poor girl will be scared shitless." Still standing somewhat aggressively, he offered an alternative. "If that's not good enough for you...then we have a problem..."

Location: Pallet Town [Oak Institute]

With the interruption by Oak finished, Sully and Celeste set out on their journey. It was an uneventful bus ride, each taking two seats to themselves to make phone calls to loved ones and friends who were not lucky enough to be there with them. They arrived in the bus terminal and made straight for their meeting spot. Conversation was generic small talk and getting to know each other. Talking about themselves, their families and what they were doing there. They were mid flow when they were caught off guard by a mountain of a man blocking their way on route 3. He was closer to seven foot tall than six and had arms thicker than Sully's legs. His beard stuck out from his chin like a well sculpted piece of stone.

"You two wouldn't happen to be Sully and Celeste would you?" The mans voice was booming, so much that it was slightly disorientating. The pair managed to nod before receiving club like blows on their shoulders. The man let out a hearty laugh knowing he had the right people. "Good! My names Adrian and i'm a mountain ranger. I've known Professor Oak a long time and she says that you two will be more than able to deal with the problem we have here. The mountains and cave systems are home to many pokemon, they have been there as long as records have been kept. However we have some gold hunters setting off explosions trying to make a big score. They are collapsing passages and caves, trapping pokemon inside. They come in, set off an explosion, have a look for traces of gold and are gone before me or one of the other mountain rangers can get there. We don't know what they look like or even how many of them they are. We can't cover every part of the cave and they simply set off explosions wherever us rangers aren't."

Adrian took a breath, putting his hands on his hips and looking up at the sky, sighing heavily. "If they are not stopped soon then it's only a matter of time before we start seeing some human casualties. Fortunately the pokemon who get trapped are mostly able to burrow or dig their way out, I wouldn't fancy the chances of a human. We need you to patrol what we call the second floor basement level. We'll take the other two levels which should mean they will look to do something there. I can appreciate that this is dangerous but the second you have them cornered, call us on one of the wired safety phones on the wall. Any questions?"

Sully and Celeste looked at each other, both with expressions of hesitation. They knew that it would be dangerous but they also knew they had to do it. Almost in unison they turned to Adrian and spoke, "We'll do it!" Adrian couldn't hide the relief and joy that they had agreed to help. "Thank you so much...I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Anyway, I need to get going on my patrol. If you follow the signs you'll be able to easily make your way to where you need to go. I'll see you both again soon." With a wave of his monstrously large hands, he bounded off towards Mount Moon's entrace.

"He pretty much told us what we already knew, but only now am I worried." Sully turned to Celeste before continuing. "We need to make sure we get this right first time, there might not be a second chance."

"You're totally right." Celeste looked down at her hands, the nerves causing them to shake. She gripped her fists tightly before raising her head back up towards Sully. "Let's get going."

Ranger Andrea emerged from a nearby building hearing her name and Professor Oaks in the same sentence, 'This must be the group she told me about.' Making her way towards the group with a smile stretched across her face, trying to make herself as welcoming as she could. The motley crew of barely adults concerned her, especially seeing as they had only just become pokemon trainers. However she trusted Oak's judgement and so decided to make the most effort that she could.

When she reached the group she removed her hat and gave a lax salute with two finger. "Hey there! You must be the guys that Oak has sent." She wiped her brow before returning the hat to her head. "The job's pretty simple really. We have a group of no more than three people who are jumping the fences in the northern area. They are stealing pokemon and we can only imagine what they are doing with them. The reason we have people pay for safari balls to catch pokemon here is because it allows us to regulate the numbers and more importantly, fund our conservation efforts. If you can find and stop these guys we'd be eternally grateful. In fact we're going to give you each a handful of safari balls that you can use while you're on the look out."

Andrew threw a small bag of safari balls to each member of the group. "We don't know much more about them other than they come from the forest that surrounds the north section and that they look like off road biker types. You know, brightly coloured overalls and all that." Looking back to the building she came from, she glanced back at the boys. "I really need to get going, when you have these guys cornered and beat give me a call. Oak said she has uploaded my number in your pokedexes."

Almost as quickly as she came, she was gone. It was up to the group to find the small gang and try to stop them.
