While I'm thinking about it, I just want to openly apologize to anyone I've ghosted in the past if you're still active on the site. I know some people don't care, but I am sorry, fam.

Advanced RPs are usually way slower than casual ones, if that's a concern for you, casual regardless of post length is a good spot for you for sure! That's what I've noticed anyway.

how to be dynamo frokane: a guide.
step 1; randomly tag people and bait them into arguing
step 2; once someone takes the bait, make a poorly made observation about them
step 3; never stop repeating this observation
step 4; ignore any valid points they make, because losing against people who have more brain cells than you have chromosomes is for losers.
step 5; rinse and repeat daily
bonus step; if they start to ignore you, constantly tag them in the hopes they'll give your attention whoring ass some more of that loving attention.

It's my most hyped game in a while so I'm pretty pleased with it myself lol.

So close, but so far. September can't get here fast enough.
@icmasticc Your avatar and signature make me happy. Lol. Welcome aboard! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. :)
@Kibaro Yosh went to bed, I'll alert him to your questions in the morning, provided he doesn't get to them first! :)

They will likely be making a Discord chat, or Skype group for ease of communication once the OOC is ready, if anyone has a preference, let Gan or Yosh know.
@Kibaro No one is too new! <3
Lol Gan. <3

This is me, maybe showing interest. I really don't know right now.

"Well, I brought Teraem here last time I came, about a month ago now. He was allowed in without much issue." Iyl responded without glancing at her friend, her eyes glued to the building they were headed toward. She dare not mention that they had left much earlier than she'd wanted because she introduced him to a friend, and the meeting didn't go well.

She still wasn't sure why.

The room was filled with screaming. Another body was thrown out of the door to the cellar, mangled and broken. Sari winced. "Come on! We're trying! You're not the only one we have to cater to at the moment." The mage yelled through the grated door, her bright green eyes darting through the lines of shelves to the door that would take her to the Grand Hall. She only hoped she could quiet him long enough to get Iyl into the building. Since the girl's energy had touched the barrier he had begun to rampage. At first, he had screamed something unintelligible, now he was just growling over and over again. Whenever anyone went in, he devoured them and then spit them back out in a mess of blood and entrails.

Sari really didn't have time for this. "Will it make you feel better if we bring her down to you once she's settled?" The mage yelled over the creature's growling, and waited for his response. She wouldn't have to wait long.

"ℱine." A deep, echoing male voice spoke, and the growling subsided.

With a sigh of relief, The mage rushed out of the room and down the corridor. By the time she'd reached the Grand Hall, Iyl and another friend she'd brought with her were already at the base of the massive staircase that would lead them inside. "Iyl! Welcome back!" Sari called out to the girl, meeting the two individuals half way on the stairs. She wrapped the younger mage in a hug and squeezed. "We've missed you!"

After a moment or two, Sari took a step back and smiled at the person standing by Iyl's side. A man. A handsome man at that. "Who's this, Iyl?"

Iyl watched as her friend began his spellwork with his hand on the sealed archway while the cave rumbled and spit rocks at them. They were on a massive time constraint, but it seemed as though he would be able to pull through and open the seal much quicker than anticipated. As she watched him work, her senses picked up something strange with his energy; it seemed unstable. It was writhing.

Before the mage could really focus in on what was going on, she saw the archway crack open, and was told to go. As she was about to protest she felt his energy begin to swirl around her and push her toward the exit. With a disgruntled sigh she made her way through the opening as quickly as she could, turning back to look at him when she was free. A look of terror spread across her face as the worst thought passed through her mind. What if he didn't make it? What if she lost not only Teraem, but her best friend as well? What would she do then?

While a crisis broke out inside the woman's mind, her eyes were glued to the cavern. She felt it as Lacain's energy stretched out within the cavern in what she perceived as a final attempt to push the door open. He succeeded. Iyl watched as he nearly leapt through the cavern's opening. As his body moved just out of reach, the cavern's archway snapped shut as if it were the maw of a great beast.

Then, as if none of the events of the passed hour or so had happened, the markings that denoted the cavern's location disappeared, and Iyl felt a strange sense of peace as a foreign energy she hadn't noticed before dissipated into the air.

Before she could stop herself, Iyl rushed to the fallen mage's side, and threw her arms around his neck. As her body connected with his in her largely one-sided embrace, energy from her seemingly endless mana pool poured into him. She knew he needed it, but she was also hoping that it might help the still writhing energy that wreathed his body.

She couldn't tell what it was that was happening to him, and it worried her.

"You jerk!" Iyl's voice cracked as she whispered the words against Lacain's shoulder. When she realized she'd spoken, she also noticed that her entire body was shaking. It was all she could do to keep from crying for the second time that day.

She wouldn't burden Lacain like that. Not right now.

When he pushed himself to his feet, Iyl stayed sitting on her knees for a few moments longer, listening to him as he apologized because the spell took so much out of him with her head bowed, staring at her now folded hands. For a long time after he finished speaking, she didn't move or speak, simply sat staring at her hands.

After a few minutes of silence passed, and he asked her if she knew of a place they could go, she stood.

She did know of one place.

Without a word she gestured for him to step away from the cliff face. Once he had, her mana began to pool in her hands. Carefully, slowly, she brought her hands together as if she were saying a prayer, and a golden shock started between her two open palms until they were pressed against each other. Her eyes closed for a few moments as she pictured the place in her mind. When she had it clearly visible behind her eyelids, she raised her closed palms above her head and then slowly parted them facing toward the cliff's base. Slowly, she began moving her open palms down and further apart. Eventually, she had made a large oval of golden energy about Lacain's height and twice his width. Knowing that it was complete, she opened her eyes, allowing the image in her head to become the image within the oval.

After a moment, a large green field was visible within the golden portal, a clear dirt road leading to what appeared to be another university. One much larger than even Teraem's. When the image was complete, Iyl stepped aside to allow Lacain through. "Go first. I have to keep the portal open. It'll close immediately after I've passed through." She spoke calmly, her eyes not really meeting his though they were resting on his face.

Once Lacain had passed through, she followed, the portal snapping shut as soon as her body was free of it on the other side.

For a moment, she glanced at him, before starting to walk up the dirt path toward the university.

The mage watched in silence as her friend left to go beyond the wards where a gift from his master awaited him. As she waited for him to come back, her mind drifted to Teraem, wondering why he would've made Lacain trek out this far into the wilderness just to give him a gift. What was so special about it that it needed to be hidden? And why in a cave that wouldn't even allow her passed the wards?

What had he been hiding?

Just as she was getting nervous about Lacain's time away, she heard his footsteps as he made his way back to her. When he reached down to help her up, she grabbed his hand and stood. As the cavern began to shudder and tremble, Iyl followed after Lacain as quickly as she could. In the distance she could hear as rocks began to fall from the ceiling of the tunnel.

The place was very quickly becoming a deathtrap.

As if reading her thoughts, the falling rocks began to catch up to them as they neared the sealed archway.

She only hoped Lacain could open it faster than it had taken him before, otherwise, they were done for.
To any perspective players who see those posts above and think, "oh, this is drama, I better not." Or, who are deterred for any other reason, allow me to speak my piece.

Essence was a Role play that spanned two years and 2-4 iterations, and that's not even getting into the writing Wind had done before then. What she gave the previous players was an outline. We colored it in.

Though the RP had its ups and downs, as any group of people who are vastly different are won't to do, we worked beautifully together when it came down to it. Each of our brush strokes was unique, and gave life to the world as a whole. It was wonderful.

The original Essence was pretty small in terms of numbers of players. People left, as they often do in RPs. It's the way of things. Those that stuck around, however, may have fought from time to time, but after the end--the completion--of S1 when the guild was back up on its feet for the most part, I personally knew that I had found a group of friends worth keeping.

That's what Essence does. It brings people together.

When S2 started, we as a community ran into problems that ultimately ended with the death of a great piece of literature. It didn't deserve that.

For two years I worked in collaboration with about 12 people, 12 wonderfully talented writers to flesh out the world that was the Essence of our time.

I wouldn't trade any of it.

This RP, perspective player, deserves a chance at new life, and a new group of hands to mold it.

So, give it a chance, won't you?
I hope all goes well, and that Essence blooms again. It deserves that, even if I'm not apart of it.
