Name: Tsubasa (Wing) Izumi (Harmonious Spring)
Age: 17
Grade (9-12): 11
Disability: Prosthetic legs, massive scarring on his torso and arms.
Personality: He is kind at heart, but puts up a barrier between himself and others, with a very clear set of morals, always the first to defend another person, especially those who are passive and/or weak willed. He adores animals and even though he can be quick to anger, you’ll never find a more loyal friend. Many consider him a delinquent, but he is very kind, though sometimes reluctantly so, Tsubasa is also fond of children because of their carefree nature and acceptance of others.
Background: Born into a single parent household, with two older sisters, his early years were somewhat stressful, but not unbearable. He had a wonderful caring mother, and two loving older sisters he enjoyed his life. He began to talk at eight months old, and soon thereafter began to walk. He was noticeably intelligent, learning sign language, English, Russian, French, German and Korean, in addition to his native Japanese. Tsubasa was great with languages, but even better with science, he quickly advanced past what school could teach him, so he was home schooled just after entering first grade, this mostly consisted of him teaching himself, and learning what he thought was useful. Though he didn’t spend all of his time with academics, he enjoyed the outdoors and running. He discovered Martial Arts at the age of six, and quickly became the best in class, moved up two extra years by the end of his first year in training. At eleven his life went awry, after a successful regional tournament in three different Martial Arts categories, they were on their way to celebrate, but a drunken official in a sports car hit them, at 150 miles per hour, the car spun and ended up smashing into a concrete wall backwards. Large pieces of metal were jutting through his legs, along with glass and shrapnel having torn across his chest. It was a miracle anyone survived, his oldest sister, Suzu (Bell) then sixteen broke over half of her bones, but was mostly untouched from glass and other debris, his middle sister Aiko (Love Child) fourteen, had severe internal organ damage, his mother was put into a coma for over two months, along with multiple broken bones.
Tsubasa was the only one who didn’t fully heal, both legs were amputated eight inches below his hips. He went into a deep depression, this was caused by his family’s suffering more than his own, and he blamed himself for the accident. After he was fit for school, he went back to public education, it was his choice, he didn’t want to feel like a burden on his family, he just wanted them to finish healing. What he didn’t expect was the shear cruelty of the other students, his grades were at the top of the whole schools, and the students hated him for it, they didn’t think he should even be in school, much less the one with the highest grades. When they insulted him, calling him ‘freak’ ‘retard’ ‘cripple’ and a slew of other insults, it hurt, but when they insulted his family, they would end up in the nurses office before they could blink. But after one particular incident, when someone groped his eldest sister, they were hospitalized, and the person who groped his sister was the little brother of a local gang leader. The older brother had him jumped and severely beaten by ten high schoolers, he was still in middle school. This only fueled his desire to get beyond what was before the accident. He dove head first into designing prosthetic legs that could perform Martial arts, and he succeeded. The legs he made weren’t as good as real legs, but good enough. However, Tsubasa was not allowed into any Martial Arts tournaments, since his prosthetics “would give him an unfair advantage over other contestants” Which wasn’t true at all, they inhibited his performance, but the politician who crashed into his family’s car was banned from any office, though his connections kept him out of jail. What the politician could do was keep Tsubasa out of Martial Arts. Even though he couldn’t compete, he refused to accept defeat, he went to more than 200 Martial Arts schools and Sensei’s before one accepted him as an apprentice. The one that did, was considered one of the absolute best in the country. He is known as “Ishikami No Mori” (Stone God of the Forest) Though he never uses his birth name, he does go by Kuroki (Black Tree).
Though the training is very hard and often painful, Tsubasa trains with great diligence and respect for his Sensei/Shishou (Master). His family have all made full recoveries, and after leaving school again after having been ambushed by that street gang, he is returning for one more try, this time at Yamaku. Though he is mostly there for socialization skills, and to learn how to interact with people and make friends.
Other Info: He spends most of his self-learned academics in science, and is often tinkering with his prosthetic legs. His favorite foods include anything Italian, spicy and/or salty. He can’t stand being near anything with tentacles, they are “creepy as fuck”.
It sucks.
