Ash's hand shot up and covered her mouth as she turned to see Kai wrapping his arms around Ada, pulling her closer to him. Ash moved towards Marc and placed a gentle hand on his arm.
"I'm not leaving town without you, Tinder." Her eyes had a small fire behind them and her jaw was tenser than normal. Kai looked to Ash and gave a nod of approval.
"As much as I want to keep the girls safe from harm like you do, I want to keep my best friend safe too." He looked down to Ada and stroked her hair down.
"Baby, do you want to go see Lawson? I'll drive you there and wait out front." Ada looked up at Kai, a sad look on her features.
"Yes but I have so much work to do here," she said as she looked around. She had managed to get a lot set up the day before and the caters were showing up but there was still work to be done and everything had been thrown off kilter because of the serial killer on the loose.
Turning to look at Ada, Ash gave her a sympathetic smile.
"I can work on getting the picnic arranged for everyone else that wants to come along. I can ask Riley to bring her group so we can get the place organised and be safe in a group. Marc, you can't go anywhere alone, okay? Promise me." She looked back at Marc and her eyes were shining slightly, there was the hint of tears brewing and it was clear she was putting on a brave face right now for Ada.
Marc stopped and looked over towards Ash, sighing softly as she stepped to her and wrapped his arms around her gently.
"I won't go anywhere without you if that is what you want okay?" he said softly as he leaned back and placed the curve of his finger under her chin; tilting her head back slowly so he could look into her eyes. Ash wasn't expecting Marc to show this kind of familiarity in front of Kai and Ada but Ada didn't say anything so it could be ignored for now. She gave a small smile and a nod in answer.
"Let me secure the scene for Tim and I will help you set up the picnic," he said before glancing over towards Kai and Ada.
"You two go check on Lawson, she will be able to get information I can't," he said. Ada perked a brow in question until it dawned on her what he was getting at. She was his wife on paper, she would be the one the doctors would talk to.
Nodding slightly she looked up at Kai and sighed.
"Yeah, let's go," she said a bit reluctantly. She wasn't sure what to say to her
husband but she wanted to make sure he was okay, even if that meant going with her fiance. This was gettign complicated quickly.
Kai gave Ada a kiss on her temple and led her towards his truck again.
"C'mon Anela, let's get to the hospital so that you can see your husband. God that is a sentence I never thought I'd say." He chuckled and shook his head before opening the passenger door for Ada to jump in. Nodding Ada climbed into the cab and looked over to Kai.
"We are going to get this fixed as quickly as possible, there is only one man that should have been called my husband," she said before resting back in the seat and waiting for Kai.
Kai smiled at her words and closed the door over before walking around to the driver's side and getting in. He started up the truck and leaned over, kissing Ada quickly before pulling out and honking his horn at Marc and Ash before heading towards the hospital.
Ash gave them a wave as they were leaving and then glanced towards Marc. She was glad that he hadn't argued and was accepting of staying with her... them. It was safer not to leave anyone alone or behind right now. Her eyes caught sight of Jewell again and she shut them tightly, but the image was still there. It was like it had burned into her mind's eye. Just like that night with Simone... She couldn't handle it. She walked over to Marc's car and placed her hands against it as she tried to control her breathing.
Marc rubbed the front of his neck lightly before he follow Ash over to his car. Resting his hands on her shoulders he pressed a gentle kiss to the crown of her hair.
"It's okay Ash, you don't have to hold it in. I'm here, you can let it out," he said in a kind voice as he rubbed her shoulders lightly. He knew she was trying to be strong in front of Kai and Ada but they were leaving now and it was just them for the moment.
Standing up straight again and patting her hands on Marc's as they rubbed her shoulders she took a few deep breaths and then felt her chest becoming slightly less tight.
"Thanks. I'm okay. I'm fine." She shook herself out some, the ways she used to do before she'd start to dance or sing back in high school. There wasn't going to be a show right now but it always helped her to get the tension out. She turned and looked to Marc before jumping slightly as her phone began to ring again. Marc nodded slightly as he pulled his hands back and took a small step away from her to let her do her thing.
Digging into her bag, Ash pulled her cell out and frowned. It was a private number.
"No caller ID. Should I answer it?" She looked up to Marc with worry on her face. The picture earlier this morning was still clear in her mind and the message made her chew the inside of her mouth with terror.
Looking at the phone Marc's eyes narrowed a bit before he took a breath.
"Answer it but put it on speaker Ash, I'm right here and it is being tracked so don't worry," he said as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
Ash nodded and bit her lip as she hit the answer button and put it on speaker.
"Hello?" A male voice, curt and a little overly masculine rang out.
"Hey honey! I'm here. Flight touched down this morning. Where you at? Wait... am I on speaker?" Ash's face dropped but she definitely wasn't as tense as she had been. She quickly turned speaker off and held the phone up to her ear.
"Sorry! I hit the wrong button. Did you say you were in Grimm? Why are you calling from a private number?" Marc slowly let go of Ash and took a step back, look down at the ground some and trying not to listen in as best he could.
"Yeah! I made it over as soon as I could. I am, oh, uh, must have hit private ID without realising it! I've come to take you back home, baby. Where are you? I'll come pick you up." "Now isn't a good time, I'm helping Ada set up for the reunion..." She rolled her eyes some and chewed on her bottom lip as she avoided eye contact with Marc.
"Now isn't a good time? Are you kidding me? Tell me you're kidding me!? I flew all the way from California to come get you and now isn't a good time?!" His voice rose as he yelled down the phone and Ash flinched as she pulled the phone away from her ear for a second. Marc's eyes shot up and narrowed as he heard Al yelling at Ash, his jaw tensing some in the process.
"Calm down, I'm fine. I'm safe. I'm not alone but I have some work to do for Ada. We want to keep things as normal as possible otherwise we're all going to be looking over our shoulders. Look just know that I'm fine and I'll see you as soon as things are set up, okay?" "I... Ashley, come on! I don't want to wait around this podunk middle of no where field of nothingness. I want to be with you and keep you safe, okay?" "Goodbye Al, I'll call you once I'm done." She hung the call up and shoved it back into her bag. She looked up to Marc and wrinkled her nose.
"Sorry, that was Al. I figured I'd spare you from listening to that..." Marc nodded and looked away from Ashley.
"I heard enough," he said in a calm voice as he adjusted the edge of his vest before looking back over towards the Ferris Wheel. Right then it was easier to look at Jessica's cold features than it was to look at Ashley.
"I need to secure the scene real fast, just stay close," he said as he stepped around her to the back of his car and pulled out his bag from the trunk. Slamming the trunk closed a little harder than he meant to he slung his pack over his shoulder and started towards the Ferris Wheel.
Ashley flinched as he shut the trunk door and closed her eyes, letting out a sigh as he walked away. She knew he had to do his job and didn't want to get in his way. She made her way around the car and leaned on the passenger side, facing away from the ferris wheel. Ash didn't know what to do, she hadn't actually expected for Al to come here. She had no idea what to do.
Marc looked up at Jessica and got to work, he just wanted to get this done so he could keep his eyes on Ashley and keep her safe. He didn't like this entire situation and now that Al seemed to be in town he didn't even know if he would be able to stay close enough to keep her safe. Right then the only other thing he wanted to do was put his fist through Al's face for not being here the entire time with her and for yelling at her.

Pulling up at the hospital Ada slowly climbed out of the cab of the truck and took a deep breath, wringing her fingers for a moment before she remembered she was wearing the ring that Kai had given her as an engagement ring. Sighing she pulled it off and slipped it into her pocket. It wasn't that she wanted to hide the fact that she planned on marrying him but with Lawson being shot she didn't want to risk making him upset. She had no idea what type of condition he was going to be in mentally or physically.
Kai noticed her taking the ring off and he gave a sad smile her way. He understood why but he didn't like it. He gave her shoulders a light rub as he walked her up to the front door of the hospital.
"I'm going to be right out here, okay? Call me if you need me to come inside. Otherwise you can find me right here, okay?" He moved forward to give her a quick kiss but then stopped as he realised that it might look strange to kiss a man out here and then go inside to ask about her husband in there.
"I'll be here. Go see Lawson." He smiled and gave her a tight hug before letting her head inside.
Ada nodded slowly and took a deep breath before she walked into the ER and started to head over to the front desk, out of the corner of her eye she spotted Jasmine there. Looking back over to the desk she made a quick inquiry about Lawson and explained who she was. The nurse looked at her oddly, her eyes looking over at Jasmine and then back over at Ada. "He is in surgery right now, he was stable when he came in. I will get you when he is moved to recovery," the nurse told her. Ada thanked her and headed over to Jasmine, smiling weakly as she sat down beside her.
"You okay?" she asked as she sat there.
Jasmin looked up in surprise and gave a soft smile towards Ada.
"Hey Adelaide, yeah... as okay as can be imagined. I'm glad you're here. Lawson will be happy to see you." She stood up and gave Ada a quick hug before offering her seat to Ada.
"I'm sorry I didn't call, everything just happened so fast." Ada gave her a quick hug and nodded.
"It's okay. I found out from Marc and headed over here to see how he was. What happened?" she asked as she leaned back in her seat and rubbed her hands together.
"They told me was he stable but in surgery. Can you tell me anything else?" Jasmin shook her head some and gave an apologetic grimace to Ada.
"That's as much as I know. Told them I was his cousin by marriage..." She gave a small smirk and then wrung her hands together.
"Although I can tell you how it happened..." Jasmin then went on to explain to Ada about seeing Cynthia with Riley and some other girls, the sports store, Trent Lanier and then the whole fiasco with the alleyway and the gunshots.
"When I saw him come out covered in blood I didn't know what to do... Cynthia was covered. She was asking for you last I heard I think. Might be an idea to call Riley and speak with Cynthia before she loses her mind more than she already has." She almost called her a crazy bitch but knew better than to insult sick people. She may have no love lost for Cynthia but she did feel bad for her lack of sanity.
Ada rubbed her face and nodded a bit as she listened. She was about to pick up her phone and make a call when the nurse came over and informed her that Lawson was out of surgery and was back in recovery then. She stood up and motioned for Jasmine to join her, the nurse acting like she wasn't going to let Jasmine come with her, saying she wasn't closely enough related to be let back.
"Listen you fucking let us both go or my next call will be to FBI agent Tinder and I'll let you deal with him. My husband is going to want his cousin by his side but hey if you want the FBI all up in your shit with a serial killer on the loose, fine. No skin off my teeth!" The woman gulped a bit and showed them both back to Lawson. Ada nodded curtly before pushing her way into the room and stopping in her tracks as she saw Lawson laying there up right in bed. He looked okay minus the IV's coming out of him. She couldn't see the rest because of the sheets and the hospital gown. Lawson's eyes opened and he smiled when he saw Jasmine and then looked shocked as his eyes went over to Ada.
"Didn't expect to see you here, where's the Hawaiian?" he asked as he straightened himself up a bit.
Ada rolled her eyes as she stepped over to the edge of the bed.
"He's outside. He was actually the one that drove me here and suggested I come see how you were when I found out," she quipped quickly.
"Oh," was all he could manage to say.
"You gonna be okay?" she asked calmly as she cooled down her temper a bit now that that had been addressed. Lawson nodded.
"Yeah, it was a clean shot. They just needed to patch me up. I'll be fine."
