Having kept his head hidden where he had been curled up, Nareck could only hear the gruesome sounds of Toltan's transfiguration. He froze for a moment as his eyes fell upon the monstrous bring. He didn't want to think what curse had been placed on Toltan right now or the suffering he had endured under it. That was for later, that was for when they were safe. Now demanded action and so he rose to his full height and bounded forward, building as much speed as possible while Ghent and Rik did their attacks. Hoping to capitalize on their manoeuvres to disorientate the creature, Nareck threw himself forward into a ball and rolled for its feet in an attempt to topple it and make the eyes all the easier to reach.
The large Goron cracked his knuckles, an eager grin forming on his face as the talk of preparing and strategy went on. Finally being proactive was much more his speed and it felt good to be ready to take this beast to task for the suffering it had caused.

"I'm looking forward to facing this monster and putting an end to this. These people have been through enough without being preyed upon while being so vulnerable."
Nareck would offer a friendly wave to the children they passed. At Ghent's musings he grumbled, "I have a gut feeling someone is keeping secrets here. A town like this makes people terribly desperate."

The oddly cheerful demeanour of the woman caught him off guard but he smiled in return and squeezed to fit through the door into her house. Electing not to sit down in case he broke something, Nareck stood with his arms folded as Ghent asked his questions, adding to the end with, "Forgive my being pedantic but would you also mind giving us your version of how you found the latest victim?"
Nareck nodded along with the pairs explanation. Strange behaviour before the man's death gave him an uneasy feeling that this was more than just a random impulsive attack from some beast. Still, ruminating on theories without more information was a waste of time. With one last solemn bow of the head, the goron turned to begin his way to the house the elder directed them to in search of Relia, only vaguely looking over his shoulder to see if Ghent was following or had their own idea to pursue.

Reaching the house, he tapped his knuckle on the doorframe, trying not to surprise whoever was inside.
"You have our deepest condolences." The large goron spoke as he inclined his head to the grieving woman. "Forgive our...invasiveness, but what can you tell us of the last time you saw your husband? Was anything out of the ordinary? Had he recently argued or had any altercations with anyone? Did he work at the mill?"

He folded his massive arms across his chest as each second with the crying widow stabbed at him. He felt a chaffing resistance to just standing around talking, he wanted to move, to act, to find whatever caused this. This town had been forsaken, that much was obvious and now some abhorrent thing was preying on the already downtrodden residents. It was vile and infuriating. Taking a breath to swallow back his mounting frustration, Nareck spoke both to ease the woman and reassure himself.

"It is difficult, i have no doubt. And you have my sympathies for needing to relive such painful moments but any information you can provide will aid us in a swift end to this mystery and justice delivered for your loss."
There was a relaxing rhythm to the crunch of the groups footfalls on the dry earth as they approached, only accompanied by the whistle of wind. The area certainly felt dead, or as close to is as possible. The burly goron scooped up a rock and took a bite, cracking through the solid mass easily but spitting it out after only a few chews. It felt off, eerie, like everything here, as if the terrible events had tainted the land itself.

Nareck listened with folded arms, saying nothing but nodding in understanding as the elder explained and when Ghent volunteered them both he lay a heavy calloused hand on the hylanders shoulder and spoke in a deep, respectful tone. "Do not fear, we will uncover the cause behind all this."

CHARACTER SHEET
[Appearance Picture WIP]

Name: Nareck
Age: 46
Gender: Male
Race: Goron

Personality: Boisterous, overly jovial and jolly and completely lacking in formalities. Nareck is very personable and friendly, quick to relish in the joys of life and encourage others to do the same, whether that be a test of strength between friends, a hearty meal, or a well earned sleep. He can seem larger than life in his zeal but he's very much aware of the small details that make all the difference in peoples lives.
Quick to boast of his skills in combat and mining, he can come across as arrogant at first but he is just as quick to praise others for their own skills in much the same manner. He is simply a Goron who loves living and seeing others do the same, and will protect that joy to his own end.

Biography: Spending much of his life as a miner in Gorodon Rudrock, Nareck would've been satisfied with his lot in life had it not been for one day when he caught sight of refugees entering the city from a neighbouring village that had been attacked by monsters. Seeing the devastation and loss of their homes and way of lives sparked Nareck to act, to protect his people and so he set out with the goal of joining the prestigious Obsidian Wick.
After spending several years training and preparing, he entered himself for a place and was accepted. Believing himself to now be one of the honorable and steadfast protectors of the Eldin region, he was happy to serve. However sometime later his unit was called out to quell a skirmish between two towns and it was here Nareck learned of the harshness of his commander as they were ordered to put down several rioting Goron to "set an example."
Nareck refused, resulting in being struck for his insolence, granting him a scar across his left shoulder and cheek, and he was discharged from the Obsidian Wick.

Disillusioned and lost for what to do with himself, Nareck took odd jobs protecting merchant caravans on their way to Hyrule. One day spotting an advertisement for recruits to join the Valorbrands. Seeing it as a second chance to fulfil his goal of being an honorable protector, he set out to join up as an eager but very new member.

Notes: I've left the picture blank for now as i'm working on drawing my own of him, which i will add once it's done.
Did i see a mention of a discord being made? Could be a way to lock in people interested.
@Sho Minazuki I love Gorons, myself. And i can see this one i'm making being very Siegmeyer-ish, as if he was from Catarina. And i was wanting to ask, how much tonally will this be influenced by Souls?
