Some things are just certain. Like death, taxes, and lying in the Mystery Dungeon personality tests.

Bio

No, I can't believe how little all this means to me.

I'm a long-time Roleplayer looking to do something with my life. My name is Chuuya, Chuu, or Oliver and I'm a 23 year old that lives with relatives outside Tampa. I like 2D fighting games, discovering new music on the daily, and I'm about as much of a weaboo as the next guy. At the moment, I'm currently in the middle of guerilla warfare with the roaches in my bathroom and the dumbest thing I've ever done was fly across the country for work during a national crisis. I like listening to people's problems and I sometimes think about the fanfictions that I'd like to write too. I'm also pretty good at reading people, but other than that, I'm actually pretty boring.

I don't have a preference for Roleplaying though I tend to bore very easily and get distracted by the next shiny plot that comes along. I'm open to about anything though I'm too inexperienced for smut (I have to know my partner for a minimum of a year before I feel comfortable writing it anyway). I've been Roleplaying for a little over a decade now and I'm mostly adjusted to "chat-based" Roleplays (i.e. Discord), but I'm open to new experiences. That's all I can think for now, but ask me anything and I'll be happy to share.

My best friends, @Lyly and @Tiger, also use this website.

I usually like dystopian, western, or modern Roleplays with a slight futuristic twist. I also enjoy Roleplays that happen in a pre-existing settings (ex: historical, modern, fandoms, etc) because I'm notoriously terrible at building worlds and it's probably fair to even say that I hate it. I find building worlds to be tedious with usually very little payoff in the end. Building characters, however, is a different story and I very much enjoy that. I think that the genres that I dislike the most are slice-of-life, standard medieval fantasy, and smut-based plots. I'm also not fond of Roleplays where romance is the main focus though I'm pretty flexible with that and sometimes it can be executed in a fun way too. Roleplays that have users that I like in it tend to be a plus from time-to-time too.

Also miss me with those Roleplays with real life faceclaims. I'll take my weabooism to the grave.
I'm the sort that will read over something even if I'm not familiar with the premise. Hell, an RP got me to read the Grishaverse Books.

But as to what I'm looking to write, I harbor a deep love of pulp, grit, and Mythos fiction. Urban Fantasy/Horror, Sword & Sorcery, Flintlock Fantasy, and more ethnographically diverse/different fantasy settings - I'm burned out on the Medieval Europe Fantasy Anachronism. It's everywhere.

I completely feel that last part. It's mostly why I've come to completely avoid fantasy and even refuse to list as a preferred genre. It looks like someone like you might benefit from this section, this section, or maybe this section though. You should, hopefully, with your list of interests be able to find something that suits your tastes. In the meantime, however, if you have any questions, then please don't hesitate to ask. Taboo is officially defined as "prohibited or restricted by social custom" or "place under prohibition". Topics related to taboo typically progress as quickly as human society does with the focus changing to reflect political, social, and even religious norms at the time. Writing has always been one of the mediums that tackled "taboos" even in the past where it was used to question authority or dabble into previously untreaded waters including LBGTQA+ relationships, sexism, racism, and so on. Exploring the taboo has become norm nowadays, however, and many more authors have become willing to dip their toes into the water. This, of course, includes Roleplayers.

With that said, what are topics that you still consider to be taboo and where do you personally draw your line with that content? What would you consider as "tasteless" versus actually exploring a tricky topic (ex: racism, abuse, terrorism, certain historical events, etc)? Do you think that Roleplaying is an acceptable medium to explore these topics or do you think that the vast majority of Roleplayers are too "immature" to appropriately approach these things at all? Do you think that people who are unaffected by these issues should be allowed to comment on them either? Do you prefer to write with taboo or avoid it all together when it comes to writing?

I'm very curious to hear what others think. Please feel free to use as much or as little detail as you like, but remain civil and on-topic at all times. As always, please do not violate any of the Guild's guidelines. Thank you and happy discussing.
Welcome to the Guild, @StormWolf. What Roleplays are you looking to write while here?
Welcome to the Guild, @artifeximpar.

It looks like someone like you might best benefit from this section, this section, or this section. From my understanding, Roleplays with specifically 18+ focuses are not allowed on the public form between advertisement and having a reasonable size of minor users, but you can find advertisements for them in the last section that I linked you to and are allowed in PMs. Either way, I hope that you're able to find Roleplays that suit your tastes. In the meantime, however, please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Most of us are pretty friendly and usually happy to help.
Welcome to the Guild, @goldchain. What Roleplays do you typically enjoy?
Welcome to the Guild, @MapoTofu. What kind of Roleplays are you looking to join?
@Hyde oops! sorry I missed you. I prefer to write fantasy, spice of life, or historical genres, but I've been known to do all sorts of things.

A very diverse list of interests and I'm sure that you'll easily find something here that suits your tastes. If you have any questions in the meantime, however, then please don't hesitate to ask. Most of us are pretty friendly and usually happy to help.

God of shortness alchemy.

(Also @Hyde since you included both for me, I will happily share that I prefer being called Goddess.)

Good to know! Sorry about that. Your gender identity wasn't listed in your profile and I did not want to assume.
